- Apple is rumored to be working on a new iPhone model called the iPhone 17 Slim to be released in fall 2025. And here’s what you can expect.
As the name suggests, the 17 Slim will have a significantly thinner design with an aluminum chassis rather than titanium. Today, the iPhone 15 Pro is about 8.2mm thick, the 17 Slim could reduce that thickness to just 5mm. Which is almost 40% thinner and would make it thinnest Apple product ever.
I would prefer calling it “iPhone Air” rather than “Slim” to be honest.
Given Apple‘s naming strategy it will probably be air or ultra, not slim.

Making a slim iPhone is an interesting design move - I can’t imagine anyone has ever complained about their iPhone being too thick, only too large.

The iPhone 6 is way thinner and lighter than the 15 pro, it feels nice holding a super thin and light phone compared to more recent iPhones.

I LOVE this. It solves the camera rocking issue when you set it down, makes Dynamic Island less disruptive, and finally, has a more durable screen, but WHY ON EARTH DO WE NEED A THINNER iPHONE??!?
we need to push one way, and that is slimmer. But honestly, the 14 Pro thickness is perfect for me, without a case it actually feels like a slab of technology. Almost like holding a glass panel. Honestly think we've peaked at design and looks, only thing now is no bezels, and a camera hole like the one on the slim.

Vivo x5 max was smaller and didn't have bending issues. Also Ipad Pro M4 is 5.1mm and no bending issues.
I feel like bending shouldn’t be a problem if you treat the phones right, I collect old phones and get many iPhone 6/6 Plus and none of them have bent.

iPhone 15 Pro Max has 8GB of ram. Also, the camera array of the rumored 17 Slim would not work for the Vision Pro in Landscape orientation. It’s unlikely you could only use that feature in portrait.
Did anyone notice that the camera set up on the iPhone 17 Slim looks very similar to the camera set up on the Google Pixel phone?

I'd guess it's going to perform as the 15 pro. Bigger width and height, but slimmer equaling in battery size as the normal pro, so not any lower battery life then the 15/16 pro.

I am guessing that they will do a redesign and a ton of upgrades, as well as having maybe 4, 200mp cameras.
@@zeruxcheats They would never incorporate 200mp sensors, it's just waste of production cost for nothing. There isn't much more upgrades you could do than a zoom system with mechanical lenses and better battery tech.

nah. the note 7 didn't blast because it was thin. it blasted because it had battery issues. moreover the iPad pro is also 5 mm thin and there have been no complaints about the battery so far. So i don't think we would see a note 7 issue on the iPhone.

The 17 Air will correspond to the then-6.3” (currently 6.1” display). There will be a 7.2” model with a larger display which will correspond to the then-6.9” (currently 6.7” model).
If the iPhone 17 comes with a very thin design, it might require the removal of Face ID. Face ID technology needs additional components like the front camera and depth sensors, which could impact the ability to make the device extremely thin. However, this is just a hypothesis, and there could be new technologies that allow for maintaining Face ID in a slim design

With the phone this slim, I doubt that it will withstand extensive use and heavy gaming without overheating. Theres not enough room for the cooling mechanism to fit in the Slim
