It's the European Championship.
We are the best losers and we are proud of it hahahah, join the party !!! - Rob from the Netherlands
Speak for yourself, to me there is absolutely no pride in loosing 3 finals.
Maar je hebt wel gelijk, But you are soo right.
@@afcansf5996 sourpuss ( zuurpruim) Ga lekker Padellen ofzo 😂
@@afcansf5996 there's no pride in losing 3 finals. There's pride in reaching 3 finals tho 😉 Just gotta flip the script and look at it differently.
I was just a kid in 1974 and 1978. Stopped watching football after that.. 😂
The soccer style the Dutch were know for is called "total football". Stemming from the Cruijff era, 1970/80. He intoduced it in Barcelona, who perfected it, while being their coach, which resulted in the probably more infamous "tiki taka" style.
If I remember correctly, it was their manager "General" Rinus Michels who introduced said style of total football?
We have the European Cup now it started last week...
The dutch crowd is amazing...all and everyone in orange...
Watch it on UA-cam..
Greetings from The Netherlands
In the 70th years the Dutch football team had a very succesfull trainer (coach) and a football player(s) who was the best of the world...
The trainer with his techniques of playstyle (Rinus Michels) and a football player Johan Cruijff, which was unstoppable these days.
Today it is a EK in Germany, In 1988 we did win the EK and this was also in Germany, so we do have good hope to win this championship... (A hope we have every 4 years with the EK and every 4 years with the WK).
The Euro is not the World Cup. Spot the difference.
This is what the world must be. Respect, love, party and freedom. Enjoy our culture and learn.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
World cup and Euro cup are different
Not that different its basicly only brazil argentina and one other ocasional high fying team that are missing
I was -2 years old when we won the European Championship in 1988, it has been a tough time ever since
EM Not WM 😅
We Dutch are born with love for soccer..Holland has always been playing attractive soccer..not scared like some countries with all 11 players on their own side
Sorry, but no... I'm Dutch and I don't like soccer at all, never understood the hype for it.
We like football too.
Maybe in Holland. I don't live in Holland. I live in Drenthe so maybe that's why I don't feel the love for football.
@@LaReganto pfffff..... dat Holland gedoe weer. Ik heb me wel eens afgevraagd of er echt mensen zijn die daar moeilijk over doen. Klaarblijkelijk.
Nou: HUP HOLLAND HUP
You should do a followup of the Dutch fans at Hamburg 🍻naar links....naar rechts...lalalalalalalalalalala😂

It's not the World Cup, it's the European Championship that's taking place now
Back in the 60's and 70's most teams played a pretty defensive style. But then the Dutch came with a whole new style of football, what is today called as 'Total Football'. That explains like you need a team of players that are so comfortable on the ball, that each player can take over the position of another player. If a defender moves up on the pitch, a midfielder would take over his defensive position for example. Also they introduced nthe 'offside trap' and the 'flying keeper' in that tournament.
See also the orange streets in Holland, just for this tournament 😊
1:41 "I wonder what they mean by their style", is a style of football invented by Rinus Michels the Dutch coach from that era, and is closely associated with the Ajax team from Amsterdam. The game strategy is/was called "Total Football". It has to do with using the space of the football pitch and the fluidity of the game how the ball is played. For example, in Latin America they do a lot more dribbling with the ball and they play the ball to their best player. This has tactic can often have a fumbling effect. The Dutch way, every player counts to pass the ball when they are attacking, and they must try to pass the ball to the next available player that has used an open space to make himself available. The players often make either a triangle or diamond shape to outplay their opponent. This has an explosive effect as it must be done as quickly as possible to pass the ball. In defense mode they tighten the open spaces. These passes are fast and are often done by touching the ball ONCE. The name of this tactic is "One Touch Football" which makes part of "Total Football". This game strategy was adopted by the football team from Barcelona and they called it "Tiki Taka" thanks to Johan Cruijff who first introduced it to the team when he served as coach between 1988 to 1996. Total Football was later evolved by another Dutch coach Louis van Gaal and Pep Guardiola took it to the next level. There is more to the story, but if you search in UA-cam for "Total Football" and "One Touch Football" you should a much better idea.
Here's a great reference, notice how the ball is touched once as they pass the ball to the next player. Hence, "One Touch Football".

Here you have the best Dutch football player of all-time, Johan Cruijff, who even though comes from humble beginnings, many like myself view him as a genius in his own right. His Dutch quotes are legendary. It was via Johan Cruijff that many Dutch players came to play in Barcelona. They mention in this video clip, "Barcelona always train in tight spaces", which is slightly different to Dutch football, but the principle is the same.

I hope I managed to give you a better insight about the Dutch way of playing football. BTW, great UA-cam channel! Regards from the Netherlands.
I am slightly embarrassed to say that I didn't even know what total football actually meant. Now I do. Thank you.
@@PetraStaal - Which is understandable as it was a game strategy that the Dutch started to play back in 1974. It took some decades for it to evolve to the point we know it now. 👍
As a Dane, I remember the 1974 cup when the Netherlands played that match against Germany. I was on a ferry between Sweden and Finland with my parents.
Lots of people watching the match. Everybody cheered for the Netherlands except two, they were, of course, German.🤫🙂
@Charlie the euros 2024 are now ongoing.. look at this clip from the Dutch before their first game in Hamburg
To be fair; we love our German neighbours. It took a while, especially for our grandparents but today we are great mates, many Dutchmen live in Germany (and viceversa) and we interrmarry a lot.
That's one of the reasons I don't understand the American slavery reparations thing. If we can forgive the Germans within a few decades, why not do the same ? And more importantly; why would you blame innocent people who had nothing to do with it in the first place ?
Anyways,
Keep up the great work Charlie and cheers from tha Low Countries.
European championship is not the world cup. Its a national tournament involving all of Europe.. hence the name EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP.
You should honestly raise a fundraiser for you and your family to visit the Netherlands. Eventhough we're greedy, i'm pretty sure you will reach your goal since we love people like you showing interest in our country.
We party already before our game start 😂😂. Now the European cup is happening. We will see how far we'll go.. xD

New videos of the orange legion in Germany now on UA-cam
We need a European win after the Eurovision debacle, and we are pleasently surprised after the meh-ness of the national team ever since lots of good exoerienced players stopped at the same time and they had to kinda start all over again. Not too long ago they had great difficulty to even find a coach willing to take in the challenge. And I saw this game and was like: whoah what did I miss?! Yay i can finally be excited again and not a. Fall asleep because of the counterfootball or b.getting annoyed by useless missed opportunities
Their style is: "tikkietakkie"
implying its world cup. fuckin hell
I only watch when they are in the finals!
Once in 40 years 😂😂😂
No no Germans are very welcome here 😁 😊 They are our friends 🇳🇱🤝🇩🇪
Yes, the Dutch revolutionized football. We call it Total Football. The Dutch were the first to use it. And every other team was dumbfounded. Today Total Football is adopted by nearly all big teams. But then, nobody saw this and the Dutch schould have won the title in both 1974 and 1978. We also should have won in 2010. But a Spanish goalkeeper did'nt clip his toes and saved with this unclipped toe a certain goal from Robben. We still don't like to talk about it... But winning the European Championship will do us a lot af good! 😂😂
haha no mate euro cup is now only for europe in about 2 years we have the world cup again :)
That style is called the Dutch school. It's a very recognizable way of playing soccer.
No, it´s called TOTAL FOOTBALL.
Yes, aka the Dutch school....
I think ALL european countrys are the same at football!
