In this video I show you how to swap an input shaft on a Ford NP273 transfer case. I swapped in a Dodge 23 spline input shaft so that I can use my 47rh transmission with this Ford t-case for my 2008 "Fummins" Build.
Dodge trucks with the Cummins diesels use the same NP271 and NP273 cases, so this process will be the same with those trucks.
Swapping the input shaft involves completely tearing down the transfer case, so even if you are not swapping the input shaft you will learn how to disassemble and reassemble this case.
Thanks for watching and help support the channel by using my product links, I appreciate it!

Well that looked pretty easy and pretty much confirmed what case I’m gonna put in my 1500 dodge off-road build. Tired of breaking 231’s and the rear slip.
Bro thanks for posting !!
Thanks for the video! This is exactly what I was looking for. Have a 2007 f-250 with a 12 valve. 5r110 just took a crap today. Going with a 47rh, was trying to decide if I should use Dodge t-case or see if a Dodge input would fit the Ford t-case.
No problem, couldn't find very much info when I was doing it so made this video for everyone else that wanted to go this route. Working perfect so far, no leaks no problems
Was very helpful thank you
Nice video! Keep up the great work! Thanks for sharing...👍
Nice job and very helpful.
Can i swap both the input and output shaft so i can convert the 271f to be a 271d? Thanks
I’m sorry but is there a link to the gear you bought? I’m doing the same conversion, also any drive shaft mods? Thanks
What are you going to do with the adapter play the fly wheel that went to the Ford transmission
how did everything work out. I’m looking at doing the exact same transmission.
Still holding up no problems
Anyway you can explain to me how you got that transfer case extension housing off?
Hey so what if my outer synchro ring broke the 3 tabs what would happen
You don't need to take that big snap ring on the ring gear off
So the Ford and Dodge use the same front case half on the NP273?
hey guys could you help me with transfer case rebuild kit, 2006 ram 3500 cummins electric shifter, best web site to get it? thanks
is there any fitment issue with the ford front t-case to the dodge transmission?
Nope fit perfect. Just need a seal spacer for the output seal on the transmission otherwise atf will leak in between the tranny and t case
I’m curious what this spacer is that you’re referring to? Looking to do the same thing but to a nv4500 soon.
nice
Is it for sale
NVM. Do not beat in parts😢😢😂😂😂😂😅😅😅😅😅
Or just move it farther off the table. So the shaft wasn't on the table
Is the ford and dodge uses the same front cas?
