Dude- just want to thank you for the detailed explanation on the synchro keys etc- couldn't find info anywhere else. Helped me to get everything done pretty quick for my 241 for my jeep!!
In the middle of my swap now. T Case input is just about the last thing I needed to do before I install the trans. I figured I blotched the input shaft bearing depth when I saw the cain was off centered. Your video saved me tearing it all back down. Great info.
I’m about to do an nv4500 swap on my 1996 12 valve from the 47re and I’m just curious to know if you had to change your rear drive shaft as well? I know you have to change the front driveshaft but it’s hit and miss for information about the rear shaft
I ran the rear shaft. It is about 3/4 inch short if i recall. However lots of room on the slip yoke. Front shaft would have worked If i did not have a levelling kit. I never had proper length control arms at that time so it was short. You may get away with the front shaft working as well.
Thanks, great video, I just finished putting a kit in my DHD and was about to put the back cover on when I saw here that you need to get that tapered shifter in with the taper down, so will check that. Did you use a O ring on the end of the oil pickup tube? Seems like that might be important but I don't recall seeing one one when I took it apart, and I think the exploded view I have of it shows one. I might find one at the hardware store, should I look for one that fits real snug?
Thanks for the comment, i appreciate the feedback! Honestly i am not sure on the oil pickup tube. It was so long ago now that i can’t remember. I know when it was off i never seen anything and when i got it back on i have had no issues. There could have very well been one stuck on the tube that we didn’t see.
Question: I'm using the same manual you are. The dld assembly portion doesn't mention aligning teeth/struts, but the dhd section does. For the dld is this a necessary step? I just put my TC back together and not sure how struts are aligned. Thanks.
The chain will be like that. Once you install the back half of the case you need to install a snap ring on the output like i show and that pulls the chain straight. It is completely fine.
Schneids15 i calmed them and they got me the right one but it’s a little steep in price I was wondering if someone else makes a decent input without breaking the bank.

Thanks for posting this. Question-- why/how was getting the cover on tricky?
Lining up the oil pump pickup in the case and all parts.

Where did you get the page for the install ?
I have a shop manual.
My chain is not straight with the case just like yours. Does yours work fine, no issues? I just feel that the chain should be straight with the case.

@@Schneids15 thanks for the prompted response.
Great video if you’d hold still ha
Hey brother I was wondering if you can share a link for the rebuild kit? Also is the kit year specific?
All i did was swap the input shaft ( no rebuild) so i can’t lead you to that sorry.
@@Schneids15 alright thank you for the response
Are you supposed to press the cap and bearing all the way in until it's against splined section? thanks any help is appreciated !
Yep go til she bottoms out then the bearing. Meant to take a video of that but i got frustrated and skipped that. Lol
No problem. I am pretty sure mine was tight the whole way. I honestly do not remember though. Let me know how the swap goes👍🏻
Do you have a link to the manual u used?
Hey David i don’t sorry. I think i found it on cummins forum or something as a free download.
I just started and failed minute one... Any idea why my linkage seal bore is 23mm but all the seals are 25mm?
I should say also, it had a nylon ring on top of an oring for a seal?
Do you have a link for the input shaft you used?
I don’t sorry. I ordered from a company called Kingomatic. Has to come through a dealer for them though. If you are in the states try quad4x4.com

Mine wasn’t terrible..... think somewhere around 120$ i can’t remember.
This case keeps popping into neutral, what do i do?
The mode fork is bad, mine was doing the same thing
