As a black kid who went to private school, they don’t give af about you there either. They set you up to fail at both. Magnet public school was pretty great tho
Public schools where you have teachers that look like you are the absolute best. I have never felt unwanted in a school and I'm in Mississippi. But teachers know things about the world that you don't. And they somehow prepare you for the world without you knowing it
I never been to private school but I feel like there would be added pressure for minorities because people want to them to fail the white people don't want competition and the black people feel like you think your better then the average person. Those are the minorities that run to be Republican the most I think.

Because it was basically 99% black I can't say any of the teachers were unfair in fact most of the staff all around was also black. There was never a feeling of "you don't deserve to be here". I also think the focus on making sure we knew black history and accomplishments as well as the curriculum of standard american classes is part of why I never had an inferiority complex or felt the need to overcompensate with/for my blackness. I think more private schools and/or charter/public schools that focus on education not indoctrination are needed in out communities. In general the public school system doesn't care about you or your future, you are just a number and a check to them. But everything is case by case.

Black and brown children going to private school isn’t all that great. There’s still racism and discrimination. The teachers are harder on us as far as punishment goes. Private schools also aren’t necessarily giving children a better education just a better facility. I went to both and for high school at least I’d choose a decent public school over private.
My kids went to both and you're correct. Private schools penalize black and brown kids just as bad as public schools. They also don't share information about resources available to minorities for college. There are pros and cons for both but I lean towards public.

It all depends on experience I went to a great private school. I feel like the public education system is funded by the government who doesn't care about black people. It's a direct result of systematic racism. If you can afford to go to private school then money talks more but that just my experience 🤷🏿♂️
Same! I had good experiences when I went to public and private in elementary school. But my private experience in high school was bad and I ended up going to my home school, one of the “worst” schools in my area and I had a great experience. 🤷🏾♀️
ShockwaveITB I think that’s so cool you got that kind of experience at a private school. I live in the South and went to predominantly white Christian private school which is mostly what we have in my state I think. I think the staffing and demographic of the student population makes a big difference as well

When Meg was talking about Public School, all I could think is, “Meg is wrong.” I went to multiple public and private school, and public schools are better for minorities. Private school is built into the advancement of the rich and socially elite.
Depends on the private school tbh. One of the reasons they make everyone dress the same is to avoid that. I lived by a couple of large private schools that were as laid back socially as public schools. Then there are also cases where there is no mixing of the races in public schools. Shit varies case by case

Private schools aren't held to state standards and are funded by *private* money. Public schools depend on taxpayers dollars.

A good public school with connections beats most private schools to me. I feel like with private schools, like college, you are paying more for the name or reputation and you know race factors into things depending on where you are.
Bruce wayne actually has more money then tony stark. Tony's company focus mostly on tech but bruce wayne's company makes everything in gotham. But black panther has more money then both of them combined

I am very into astrology and the horoscopes that people get online a lot of times are just generalizations based on the current planetary positions. They have to be overly simplified and generalized because hundreds of thousands if not millions of people look at them daily. If you really want to dive deep into your zodiac I recommend getting a birth chart reading. They are free on café astrology and they go into depth about The exact placement of the moon and planets when you were born. Most of the time when we refer to our zodiac sign we are only referring to our sun sign and we have more signs in our chart than that. Reading the wrong horoscope was hilarious LOL. It’s funny because Meg is a real Taurus she is productive, has good management skills, creative, loyal, and highly intelligent.
But even that’s not 100% because planets move within astrology so somethings are not exactly set in stone...and if you get your birth chart read, you may have one reader who says “this” about the planets in the respective houses and another reader who say “that” about the planets in their respective houses. I’ve had 4 different readings and nothing was ever concrete or cohesive between the different readers besides the sun, moon and rising signs and their house. Everything else was different among the 4 astrologers...so even with having your natal chart read or a symmetry chart between you and someone, it’s not exactly 100%...at least not for me.
And then it also depends on Vedic vs tropical astrology as well and the readers...which further denotes how it’s not 100%
INTJ, EdD that’s true but, every reader reads differently. Some may just tell you aspects of your personality, some may tell you how the current planetary energy is impacting you, some may focus on a particular topic or question, some may focus on the meaning of the planetor only the meaning of the house, some focus on the numerology aspect of the number of the house, some may focus on the aspects, then you have some intuitive or psychic readers who use Astrology but also channel messages. So much of it is open to interpretation. I never said it was 100% because we also have factors at play in like childhood experiences, trauma that all impact who we are today. I think birth chart readings are interesting and can be helpful but, it’s not an easy guide to navigating your life. It’s there to help you figure out how to work with your characteristics in a way that supports your growth.

Public schools in the hood care more about black children, especially the kids who want to learn. As someone who has been to both, and left private school because they didn’t treat me fairly. When I went to public school the teachers really cared about me learning, and my well being.

I love what Kev said about getting something out of the military. I'm Mexican and grew up a few miles from the border in California where drugs and gangs were rampant. I joined the military to get away from it. Through that, the GI bill paid for my MBA and several technical IT certifications. Sadly, most people don't use their benefits though even though they are easily and readily available to them.
So true. I prepared myself like I was getting out when I went in. From day 1, I started saving money and took CLEPs. Now 6 years in, I'm half-way through my MBA.
My public school had an international baccalaureate program and a magnet program and a communications and broadcasting magnet program and when I graduated they added a national honor society. Public schools aren’t the worst option for black and brown kids, I agree with Pat.

When it comes to astrology signs i dont look at daily readings,but i do like the description of each sign because those are fairly more on point and unique .Also i dont think the description 100% describes you as a person but i think it helps you understand why you go through what you go through mentally/spiritually as an individual because its the package of emotions & mental mindset you came into the world with 🙏
