Tbh, I would rather wait for a Retaliator review after we have hireable crew or working computer aim systems. Otherwise it’s either a ship for a medium amount of players to crew with not versatility. I love the ship myself, but atm it’s not in a good spot, also will likely get a rework as it’s basically just a short range bomber with beds and nothing else.
Oh, I just had to pause at 1:58 to say that concise stat page is awesome, the claiming time is very very very rarely talked about, and it really changes how the game is played. Well done!

Your videos are more helpful than almost anything I've seen. I love the completely unbiased and factual overviews and I hope that never stops. This ship was my first big purchase in SC. Despite its flaws, it remains one of three ships I will not go without, 600i and MISC MIS being the others. Love it.
@@SubliminaLstv I think my smallest ship is the Eclipse and Pisces that came with the Carrack. Other than that, I have the Cutlass Red and Blue. That's about as small as I go, but I'm thinking about getting the Razor EX if it goes on sale. Seems like a fun recon/scout ship.
it was mine as well. its a general workhorse. I have a cat if i want to go large cargo, but for most content. this is my ship of choice. I like to think of it as a larger version of the cutlass. both are in the same multi-role just a bit bigger.
I own a Constellation Phoenix (which is essentially an Andromeda with less missiles & less SCU) at the cost of an interior, so I can add some decent advice & points to Subliminal's good review. 1- All the Constellations handle like slow, sluggish beasts, which honestly is fine considering its design and size). As such, fixed s5 guns is a terrible idea unless you are shooting at something really big. You need to have the guns floating (not in auto gimbal) to track smaller ships. Trying to steer to keeps quick moving ships in front of you is really hard, but the gimbals let you move the guns faster thanyou can steer. So I recommend keeping s4 gimbal unless you know you will be going up against large, slow moving targets. 2- The Constellations have the worst shield holes in the game of all ships. The cockpit nose, cockpit fins, the engines, and the guns ALL extened outside of the shields. This will obviously be fixed eventually when the figure out shields in the game, but until then, and because of the damage states, you get hit too hard & you are dead in no time to much smaller ships or pilots who know where to aim. Also, the side mounted missile racks stick out of he shields too, so keep them folded until you need to start firing missiles & be ready to lose them. 3- I like struts on cockpits (I think they add character to a ship) but the Constellations have too many obtrusive struts. It is silly, honestly and I hope this gets tweaked. (See note at the end), 4- The bottom turret had really poor arc & visibility. I would actually recommend using a cannon or scattergun to either try to get luck shots or just send buckshot to harrass ships. Top turret is fine with repeaters. 5- With the size of the engines, the Constellations should be a bit faster in space, but it does accelerate well with afterrburners. 6- Right now, the hull is a bit fragile and bits get blown off a lot, it when they implement armour, the Andromeda (and Phoenix) will have very good armour apparently. Finally 7-The ship's landing gear is very far back, so you have to make sure you do two things when you land. (A) Land with nose pointed up by about 5 degrees so that the landing gear touches in the back first & (B) Land slowly & softly. Failing to do either A or B will result in the nose tilting forward & hitting the ground/platform and damaging the ship (even blowing it up) --- remember, the nose pokes through the shields. Above I said "See note". Here it is - A lot of the problems the Constellations have is due to unfinished, missing or poorly implemented game mechanics, so in theory, once CIG gets flight mechanics, shields, armour, missiles, etc sorted out and completed, a lot will be much better and the series will mot be as poorly considered as it is now. All that said, Subliminal is 100% correct in saying your best bet would be to buy the Taurus & fly the loaner Andromeda while waiting. Avoid paying full price for the ship until you know you really want it. Cheers!
I agree, keep the gimbaled Rhinos. Hopefully, they will fix the missiles soon especially since it does not fly like a Prowler. This is on my list of possible purchase. I agree with all of the components except the turrets, I will use NBDs instead.
@@gld1010 for the Andromeda, Try using NOT the Top Rack .. its Bugged ^^ Use the Sidemounted ^^ They work like 50% .. on the Phoenix it workes ~99%. For Normal i use Revanant Weapons on the Connis for now i leave the Omnisky ^^ They are Insane good in my opinion.
You are forgetting one annoying problem with the Connie. It's HUD will sometimes just vanish if you run on medium or low settings because of its render distance from your head.

Hello, I have watched most of your videos now to try to figure on what to buy in SC... I like everything that you talk about in the Andromeda... your videos and have it is easier on which ship i would want to pick... Keep doing these videos cause I plan on watching more of them
12:22 this is suboptimal. Let me introduce you to EHP (Effective HP, per minute). FR-76 + Rampart has 56,878 HP, 483 HP/s regen. That is 483 * 60 = 28,980 HP regen of fresh "free extra hitpoints" per minute in combat. 56,878 + 28,980 = *85,858 EHP* per combat minute. Now onto FR-76 + FR-76 instead.. Twin FR-76 has 49,586 HP, 620 HP/s regen. That is 620 * 60 = 37,200 + 49,586 = *86,786 EHP* per combat minute. So in short, twin FR-76 is better in every way (except for power / stealth concerns). And will only cost you like 5000 UEC in extra cost compared to the Rampart. You get higher EHP, and faster regen. This is one area where, CIG simply havent done their math. Yes, components are "meant" to have pros and cons, but in many cases with placeholder stats, right now even in 2020 writing this as of alpha 3.11.x, twin FR-76 are still objectively BETTER than a hybrid approach. Potential exception if you pair it with a Sukoran, but you cant buy those in ingame shops.
I picked up the green paint job as well and I'm loving it. It adds a more militaristic feeling to my constellation Andromeda, which I feel is appropriate for a missile boat!

I just bought the Taurus. A Cyclone and an Ursa onboard.. It does everything so well once upgraded. It's amazing It will fit 2 Ursa Rovers if needed too.

I allways had a soft spot for the Constellation series ever since I first pledged for SC back in 2014 and even though the Constellation have alot of flaws I somehow keep coming back to them. The Connie is actually the only non Drake ship that I enjoy flying, mainly due to them also having this kinda "no nonsense" utilitarian feel to them(except for the Constellation Phoenix, wich is a bit too posh for my liking), like most Drake ships do.

Hey dude just a suggestion, but I was thinking that a future video about the pros and cons of higher tier components would be pretty well received, like, which QT drives have the best efficiency/ range as opposed to which ones are the fastest or most reliable? Some people might want range/reliability over performance/speed, and I just thought it would be a cool video idea. Keep up the great work dude, I always look forward to each video you put out. I'm not sure that that idea specifically would work I'd be just reading from Erkul. However after 3.9 I'm gonna start working on a components guide to educate the viewer on what all those numbers on erkul actually mean. I love the Andromeda. I burn through VHRT missions as quick as they appear. All the points mentioned about size and speed are true - PvP but playing PvE/NPC this ship is incredible. To be honest I now rarely ever need to use a single missile and might consider the Taurus for the bigger cargo bay, though I just cant see me letting this baby go!

I was looking for a ship that had the most pilot DPS and I was between this and the Freelancer Mis. I bought this because of your video and I love the way The Constellation looks.
I love iconic look of Connies and i will most likely use my Taurus for some hauling when it arrives. I just hope when it arrives all of those classic connie bugs would be a old memory fading away.
Giving Sub a sub because he agrees with me again😀 I've just melted a DUR into the Taurus without seeing this video, just like I did when I melted my Mustang into the DUR. I'm just disappointed that I wasn't able to retain the maelstrom, crossfield, dual ramparts & snowpacks to fit to it even though I removed them before melting it. My other issue is that I can't apply the ILW skin even though I bought it at the same time, only the green paint appears as a selection. But I couldn't ignore the chance to get a Connie for only a £15 upgrade.
I had an Andromeda for about a week but just CCU to a Warden today. When they fix the missiles and shields, I will purchase a new one. I really liked it. So now, I have a Prowler, Warden, Cutty Black, 325A (Customized without default package) and Cyclone 325A. Lastly, $75 to go until High Admiral Concierge.

I love my Connie but I cant wait for a rework, its a great firepower ship, right now the shield holes hurt its ability so much. As of now I fee l like the Andromeda is the best of the Connies as of now with role focus in mind, thats not to say it wont change in the future. Anyhow great video im sure after this week people will be looking at this stuff abunch more.
For what you get in a Connie it really is a great deal for $225 (Andromeda), you basically get a medium-large class warship for the just slightly more than some of the single seat fighter like the Hornet Tracker. But because of that, it is very popular with new players and there are a LOT of them out there and you might sometimes get dissed as a "newb" flying the "poor man's battle ship".
I prefer the XL-1 drive. Yeah, it's expensive, but it's also hilariously fast, and has really fast spooling and cooldown. Meanwhile, the Crossfield is 60k and the XL-1 is 94 k. If you are already spending that much, 34k more isn't a big leap for the convenience and fun of the XL-1.
Upgrading that QT drive to the Crossfield or similar is an absolute must. My QT times are cut in half now! Before I could mow my entire lawn in the time it took to commute from PO to Microtech. Now I just wish CIG would rework the Constellations to fix the myriad of bugs and poor performance.
942 m/s is an oddly specific number for a top speed, wouldn't you agree? Lol. I wonder how CIG balances their stuff - some of their decisions literally appear to be motivated by a whim or some RNG outcome, because they make no sense at all...
I think the Operator mode and missile rework will make the Andromeda an amazing ship with two people piloting and just launching an insane barrage of missiles
Lol I actually just melted my Taurus for a Freelancer MAX. I think the Constellations will be fine ships to fly, eventually, but right now they’re awful to fly and it is not unusual to have an engine or thruster blown off after taking pretty minor damage. The obvious choice for a claim jumper mission shouldn’t be the Freelancer loaner over the Constellation, but for me it was never even a tough call. Right now I would say that if you want something that’s going to do about everything the Andromeda is supposed to do, get a Freelancer MIS instead and save some money. Especially now that they’ve said they’re not planning any kind of rework for these things, which they really need.
I bought all three last night for the 120 month insurance but will probably only keep the Taurus (maybe),but will have the ability to buy them back later with 120 month insurance with buy-back tokens after melting and buying more ships.
I adore the connie andromeda, awesome ship for variable playstyles. You and your friends can take on just about any mission out there. That said, as potent as her armament is, she has got to have escort or players will tear you up.
Great video! I like the invictus skin, though I wish it had that kick ass logo. The Andromeda used to have size 2 badgers as stock for the turrets and the Berhing size 4s on the nacelles. I believe the Connie's are getting a slight rework for the release of the Taurus.
I kinda be waiting to buy back the Taurus, as I'm hoping they make it a rustic old version of the ship and you can see the diffrence from it to what is now in production in the Andromeda versions.
So I know this comment is late, but I just got the Andromeda and was in the process of upgrading it. I dont know if something recently changed for the Andromeda but apparently it already comes with the Badger Repeaters on the turrets. I bought 2 only to realize that the ship already had them and not the M4A Laser Cannons as described in this vid.
Your component recommendations aren't taking in the fact of how visible you are i.e. what signature you are giving off. okay that functionality maybe not in play currently but you will of course have to update your recomendations as the mechanics come out. good stuff
Nah stealth will never be to the point where you can turn a ship the size of a Connie into something that can sneak up on something. you would need way too much power and heat for it to even move. My thoughts are if you cant become invisible within weapon striking range then stealth becomes situational and not something I would consider in a general load-out. I will however add a disclaimer to my next vids explaining that.
@@SubliminaLstv I agree with your first point at a shorter distance / engagement range. But you're not considering a Long-range scanning, where your signature will be important. Especially for any ship when you want to to keep a low profile on your cargo run/mission. Long Range Scanning isn't in just yet but its coming
@@SubliminaLstv Wrong. Not being visible to a Retaliator or other heavyweight punchers from 30km+ is a huge deal. Yours and all your crew's life can depend on this. It's true that it can never be a stealth ship, but it can be one that is not picked up on scanners from the other end of the verse.
FIRST? I love the Blue! Imagining (qty4) size 5 fixed weapons... shudder. the Connies and the Freelancers all have 4 beds each, how did you get a crew of 5? Another drawback, I would mention the bottom turret has some horrible viability, and limited range of motion.

I'm semi interested in a connie, I have a Phoenix buyback token as I previously had one. Being one of star citizens iconic ships I think it is in line to get a nice rework to make it more viable in the future, that is the only reason I would buy one now, hope that they fix it in the future
The website is not a great place to get info... Except for concept ships... Because well no one knows what it will have for certain, as their mind can change at anytime. The website says all 4 weapons and one turret. Sure this news makes you happy.
I have to note that the freelancer turret arms didn't have collision last time I tried them. I think it was done since the turret rail wasn't animated (yet?). Just worth noting.

I picked up the green paint job as well and I'm loving it. It adds a more militaristic feeling to my constellation Andromeda, which I feel is appropriate for a missile boat!

I allways had a soft spot for the Constellation series ever since I first pledged for SC back in 2014 and even though the Constellation have alot of flaws I somehow keep coming back to them. The Connie is actually the only non Drake ship that I enjoy flying, mainly due to them also having this kinda "no nonsense" utilitarian feel to them(except for the Constellation Phoenix, wich is a bit too posh for my liking), like most Drake ships do.

Hey dude just a suggestion, but I was thinking that a future video about the pros and cons of higher tier components would be pretty well received, like, which QT drives have the best efficiency/ range as opposed to which ones are the fastest or most reliable? Some people might want range/reliability over performance/speed, and I just thought it would be a cool video idea. Keep up the great work dude, I always look forward to each video you put out. Hands down the best SC content out there.
I'm not sure that that idea specifically would work I'd be just reading from Erkul. However after 3.9 I'm gonna start working on a components guide to educate the viewer on what all those numbers on erkul actually mean. That way you can decide what components are best for whatever situation you might be in. Give a man a fish feed him for a night... Teach a man to fish feed him for a lifetime!

@@iiMrNiceGuyii I couldn't get it to work myself, not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if it's broken atm, but no matter what seat I was in or what I tried, could not click on table to raise. Table highlights for me but interacting with it just makes me stand up.
I love the Andromeda. I burn through VHRT missions as quick as they appear. All the points mentioned about size and speed are true - PvP but playing PvE/NPC this ship is incredible. To be honest I now rarely ever need to use a single missile and might consider the Taurus for the bigger cargo bay, though I just cant see me letting this baby go!

I love iconic look of Connies and i will most likely use my Taurus for some hauling when it arrives. I just hope when it arrives all of those classic connie bugs would be a old memory fading away.

Giving Sub a sub because he agrees with me again😀 I've just melted a DUR into the Taurus without seeing this video, just like I did when I melted my Mustang into the DUR. I'm just disappointed that I wasn't able to retain the maelstrom, crossfield, dual ramparts & snowpacks to fit to it even though I removed them before melting it. My other issue is that I can't apply the ILW skin even though I bought it at the same time, only the green paint appears as a selection. But I couldn't ignore the chance to get a Connie for only a £15 upgrade.

I had an Andromeda for about a week but just CCU to a Warden today. When they fix the missiles and shields, I will purchase a new one. I really liked it. So now, I have a Prowler, Warden, Cutty Black, 325A (Customized without default package) and Cyclone 325A. Lastly, $75 to go until High Admiral Concierge.

I love my Connie but I cant wait for a rework, its a great firepower ship, right now the shield holes hurt its ability so much.
As of now I fee l like the Andromeda is the best of the Connies as of now with role focus in mind, thats not to say it wont change in the future.

For what you get in a Connie it really is a great deal for $225 (Andromeda), you basically get a medium-large class warship for the just slightly more than some of the single seat fighter like the Hornet Tracker. But because of that, it is very popular with new players and there are a LOT of them out there and you might sometimes get dissed as a "newb" flying the "poor man's battle ship".
I prefer the XL-1 drive. Yeah, it's expensive, but it's also hilariously fast, and has really fast spooling and cooldown. Meanwhile, the Crossfield is 60k and the XL-1 is 94 k. If you are already spending that much, 34k more isn't a big leap for the convenience and fun of the XL-1.

Upgrading that QT drive to the Crossfield or similar is an absolute must. My QT times are cut in half now! Before I could mow my entire lawn in the time it took to commute from PO to Microtech. Now I just wish CIG would rework the Constellations to fix the myriad of bugs and poor performance.

I think the Operator mode and missile rework will make the Andromeda an amazing ship with two people piloting and just launching an insane barrage of missiles
Lol I actually just melted my Taurus for a Freelancer MAX. I think the Constellations will be fine ships to fly, eventually, but right now they’re awful to fly and it is not unusual to have an engine or thruster blown off after taking pretty minor damage. The obvious choice for a claim jumper mission shouldn’t be the Freelancer loaner over the Constellation, but for me it was never even a tough call. Right now I would say that if you want something that’s going to do about everything the Andromeda is supposed to do, get a Freelancer MIS instead and save some money. Especially now that they’ve said they’re not planning any kind of rework for these things, which they really need.
I bought all three last night for the 120 month insurance but will probably only keep the Taurus (maybe),but will have the ability to buy them back later with 120 month insurance with buy-back tokens after melting and buying more ships.

I adore the connie andromeda, awesome ship for variable playstyles. You and your friends can take on just about any mission out there. That said, as potent as her armament is, she has got to have escort or players will tear you up.

Great video! I like the invictus skin, though I wish it had that kick ass logo. The Andromeda used to have size 2 badgers as stock for the turrets and the Berhing size 4s on the nacelles. I believe the Connie's are getting a slight rework for the release of the Taurus.

I kinda be waiting to buy back the Taurus, as I'm hoping they make it a rustic old version of the ship and you can see the diffrence from it to what is now in production in the Andromeda versions.
So I know this comment is late, but I just got the Andromeda and was in the process of upgrading it. I dont know if something recently changed for the Andromeda but apparently it already comes with the Badger Repeaters on the turrets. I bought 2 only to realize that the ship already had them and not the M4A Laser Cannons as described in this vid.

Your component recommendations aren't taking in the fact of how visible you are i.e. what signature you are giving off. okay that functionality maybe not in play currently but you will of course have to update your recomendations as the mechanics come out. good stuff
Nah stealth will never be to the point where you can turn a ship the size of a Connie into something that can sneak up on something. you would need way too much power and heat for it to even move. My thoughts are if you cant become invisible within weapon striking range then stealth becomes situational and not something I would consider in a general load-out. I will however add a disclaimer to my next vids explaining that.
@@SubliminaLstv I agree with your first point at a shorter distance / engagement range. But you're not considering a Long-range scanning, where your signature will be important. Especially for any ship when you want to to keep a low profile on your cargo run/mission. Long Range Scanning isn't in just yet but its coming
@@SubliminaLstv Wrong. Not being visible to a Retaliator or other heavyweight punchers from 30km+ is a huge deal. Yours and all your crew's life can depend on this. It's true that it can never be a stealth ship, but it can be one that is not picked up on scanners from the other end of the verse.

Can't put 4x S5 guns on it. Only 2 of the gimbals can be changed to S5 fixed. Other ones are locked to S4 gimbal

I'm semi interested in a connie, I have a Phoenix buyback token as I previously had one. Being one of star citizens iconic ships I think it is in line to get a nice rework to make it more viable in the future, that is the only reason I would buy one now, hope that they fix it in the future

The website is not a great place to get info... Except for concept ships... Because well no one knows what it will have for certain, as their mind can change at anytime. The website says all 4 weapons and one turret. Sure this news makes you happy.
I have to note that the freelancer turret arms didn't have collision last time I tried them. I think it was done since the turret rail wasn't animated (yet?). Just worth noting.
