I'm female, in my mid-40s, and am stronger than I have ever been since listening to Mind Pump. I started incorporating 3-5 rep sets and although I have not gained a ton of muscle mass, I've gained a ton of strength. I went from 15lb dumbbell press to 40lbs. I struggled doing 12lb bicep curls and am now doing 22.5lbs! Thank you!

It's not easy for a woman to put on a lot of muscle mass in general. We have an unhealthy view of muscular women due to social media and performance enhancing drugs. The strength you are developing is wonderfull though so keep up the good work.

    • @evec2022

@@FoereaperGaming Most older women know that they should have started building muscle a long time ago. We know so much about how muscle is protective against illnesses and older men and women are benefitting from the information. Young women should know better but I guess they will find out in a few decades!

I started lifting weights in my early 20's. I am 60 and have to agree with you. Most people think I am in my mid to late 40's. I am strong but could be stronger. 😊

@@brennand933 They haven't really increased, but during this same period of about 4 months I went from 115lbs bodyweight to 105lbs, at about 2200 calories a day. I'm still eating between 2000-2500 calories a day, high carb. I get about 90-100g of protein a day. The strength gains came mostly when I started lifting heavier. I spent about 2 months in the 3-5 rep range and now I mix it up. I can do 2 chin-ups with 20lbs!

Just hit 42 , recovered anorexic. Thanks to listening to your show, I've been focusing on getting stronger for the past 4 months and I'm putting on muscle. Most importantly to me, is the mindset changes. I had to go up a size in pants, and for the first time in 42 years, I didn't freak out. I was proud of the work I had done. Thanks for teaching in a way that could get through to me :)

47 year old female. This year I've lost 45lbs, reversed type 2 diabetes (no meds) and metabolic health overall.
I started listening to this channel a few months ago when I decided i wanted to get strong after improving my health. The inspiration, motivation and knowledge I've gained is truly amazing, massive thanks to you guys and all those that comment and call in.
I do compound exercises at home, using dumbbells only 2-3 times a week.
    Keep up the good work.
Would love an episode covering diabetes and strength training.

I wish people like yourself could just stand of the rooftops and shout out your story for everyone to hear... Particularly the medical community. It is so hard to convince people who suffer from diabetes to lift weights. The medical community keeps pushing drugs and disregards the evidence that being serious about lifting weights can reverse the disease. Tell everyone you can, especially your doctors!! I think what would be helpful to have from Mind Pump would be a list of studies that categorically state how building muscle can reverse diabetes in most people. I've tried to find this but it's hard to find. These studies won't get published because pharma won't allow it. I would love to have a bunch of resources and literature that I can send people, especially my mom who is severely under-muscled and is on metformin.

@@evec2022often people are told it's progressive and it will only get worse. In some cases that's true if you don't change lifestyle ect.
Although I'm managing mine, I know I'm likely to be sensitive to carbs but lifting has changed my life and given me more choice.
I know, there isn't much information out there, sadly.
I rave on about the impact lifting has had. Wish I had done it sooner.
TBH it was daunting at first, I didn't have a clue where to start until I found this channel.
All the best to your mum, hope she gives it a try.

will be 46 in a few days. I have been active all my life. even though I have 20+ years of competitive sports behind me, I still don't feel any significant changes due to aging. I don't have chronic pain or anything like that... I never get sick. the exception is the rupture of the longer head of the biceps, from ten years ago, but it does not limit me in anything. i can still do 12-15 pull ups with 225 lb body weight. I can still handle a decent volume of training. I feel overall stronger than when I was, say, 25 years old. the only thing I lost was some explosive power. so I can't clean/jerk anymore like I used to. but my deadlift is bigger than ever. my routine consists of hiking and lifting. I have been following your content for a while and I especially like it because it helps me motivate my friends

@@strongerbetterfitness3776 it might sound weird but I always heard that weights don’t give you a “feminine” look and I always thought that lifting with weights would make me more bulky or “manly”. I grew up reading cosmo magazines that would talk about not using more than 5 pound weights to keep from getting bulky. I think for me personally it was listening to all the wrong people and just having no idea what lifting weights actually does for the body. I’m not gonna lie I was worried up until til I went for it and started with some 25lb dumbbells I had laying around. I’ve already doubled the weight, I don’t have to cut calories anymore to maintainy weight and I’ve lost 2 sizes since starting 4 months ago. And I’m not bulky lol

I'm 39 and want to be in the best shape of my life at 40. I'm setting myself up for success and have been checking off a lot of boxes to make sure I get there. Love MP material. I've been watching for about a year now.

Started watching your show a few months ago. It's really good and centered and nuanced advice. I'm turning 50 soon and I'll be looking at that new 40+ program..

I’m so thankful to you guys. I have been training for a long time doing strength training and a bunch of cardio and never understood why I couldn’t build muscle. I recently started anabolic and I can see the difference. My legs and glutes have gotten tone and muscular. I can’t believe how strong I am now. After anabolic my plan is to do performance. If anyone is on the fence about the MAPS program, I highly recommend trying them out. You will love it! Can’t wait to try this new program in the summer.Thank you guys!

I love that this new program is designed by 40 yr old incredibly fit people - you totally get that workouts have to be effective and efficient, no time to waste. No doubt this will help improve so many lives, (including mine, with 3 kids) can’t wait to try it. ♥️

Just hit the big 5-0 and discovered your channel in August-kicking myself for not tuning in sooner! Transitioned from Peloton's strength programs to your Anabolic program and wow, what a difference. Found the Foundational and trigger sessions to be exactly what I needed. Just got the 40+ program, excited to start it after Anabolic. Thanks for sharing your wisdom!

Love you guys from podcast to workouts. I have done maps anabolic a few times but considering this one atm but due to a hand injury no weights in hands for 2 months. Got my wife to do her very first ever program with maps 30.

This is going to be my first program from you guys!! I am really hoping and praying I can at least feel a little normal, I used to be so energetic before, this lethargy that comes with menopause has me struggling with my identity. Husband thinking I’m weak minded doesn’t help 🙇🏻‍♀️

When I was 38, my knees had a lot of problems. If I was going to kneel, I I’d have to drift to the ground before I posted my hand to my other knee to get up. I couldn’t change direction and get back up mid motion if I wanted to. I’ve been resistance training and watching my diet since then. I’m now 43. I lost 75 lbs and can move like I was in my early 30s including changing levels on my knees in an athletic manner. And now I’m looking to get back into amateur wrestling. I don’t have a MAPS program yet but I’m pretty interested in this one. Keep up the good work guys. You’ve taught me a lot already.

I’ve dumped the weighs for suspension training. Much easier on the joints and the results are as effective as dumbbells. Providing you use the correct form, rep & set count and time under tension. And I love the fact your core is continually engaged with every exercise. Effectively providing a total body workout. Love it!

I started getting more serious about my health in my 50's. I am now 63 and now stronger than I ever was in my twenties. Thanks, in part, to Mind Pump I am attacking my fitness with a plan. It is a struggle because injuries last longer and I have to build in rest days--whether I want to or not.

Such an awesome episode !!!! After listening to you guys for a year, I was able to convince my parents, who are in their 60's, to start strength training. I got them Resistance and Prime Pro and didnt know where to go next with them. It's good to see that there's another program I could get them that could help them on their fitness journey along with preparing me for my 40's when I get there; keep up the great work and making excellent content !

Can't wait for this program. Had a new baby in the hospital ways from home for several months and fell waaay off the wagon with eating, sleep, stress and everything in between. Now that he's finally at home, (few months) I'm ready to get back on it. Excited to grab this program as I'm 41!! Us geezers needed this to come out. Lol

I always learn something unexpected from you all, one of the reasons i love listening. I introduced cold showers to my routine a couple months ago and i love to hate them. The past couple weeks I've been struggling with sleep. Turns out they might be the reason since i switched to doing them at night. Back to mornings in hopes of getting that sleep back to normal.

I’m 51 and a personal trainer for more than 10 years. I teach group fitness classes and personally trained clients. I can completely relate to this. Our bodies change drastically after 40, energy levels, sleep, fat burning and muscle growth are all different factors that play a role here.
I can’t wait to try your maps40 program!

My wife and I just had a discussion about being FIT and getting in our best shape ever in our 40's! Looking forward to this program and what it provides. Definitely can't perform workouts like I did in high school and it takes a toll, hopeful this programming will help with what is most important to focus on as we age. Thanks MindPump, Sal, Adam, and Justin for all you do!

Just want to thank you for MAPS Powerlift. It is really cool to have the rep ranges and percentages of ORM laid out. I've always used body-part style training so it is a great learning experience. Even at 54, there are always things to learn, even after 40 years under the bar.

So you guys just released this program at the right time😅. Save me the worry of trying to figure out the best program for him considering his in his 60s. Thank you ☺️ 😂😂
