    Dear Arthur, thanks again for this tutorial which is my Sunday afternoon entertainment here in Germany (8 hours ahead). While you were sleeping I already did a nice ride on my Giant Stance e+ bike through the wonderful Fall forests. I wish you wonderful Sunday 🍀🌞👍

    I thought something was wrong with my crankset because of the left crank arm jiggle… thanks for the great walkthrough 👍

    Thank you, once again!
    I hope chain-ring replacement could be completed just by sliding it over the crank arms without removing crank arms from the bottom bracket.
    Preloading with a plastic cap (and a metal tool) is nothing short of genius. I would have easily confused this with a dust cap.

      Thanks, you should be able to replace without the extra work.

    Hi quick question when installing the grx cranks on my mason bokeh I bought the spacers as they didn’t come with the group set but the cranks spindle isn’t long enough with the spacers for the other cranks arm to push the little pin down but withough the spacers it just fits what should I do do I need the spacers ?? Or is the bb too big it’s a bbr60 as recommended

      Try without spacers. Let the bike lead you to the proper length. If it doesn’t like it it will let you know by, binding while rotating cranks for one. But mainly getting the left crank on with ease and then getting all play out successfully. All those things are your makers for a proper fit.

      Yer it’s too wide with spacer so you can run it withought ?? Aslong as it doesn’t bind

      @tilmanryder2136 yes. The spare are to be used as a needed not mandatory. Every bike is different. What I’ve learned in the bike industry is that even though the manufacturers give you directions and guidelines there’s always a percentage it Dont apply to. I’m not there with you in person so still proceed with caution.

    Very helpful!
    But shouldn’t be a spacer on the axle of the right crank?
    I have problems getting the crank together with the spacers because the plastic cap won’t reach the axle to screw in. Any tips?

      Your bike may not need the spacers at all. Think of the crankset/bottom bracket area like the headset, if you are familiar with that. We need the crank shaft to be about 3 mm below the top edge of the left crank arm not flush. No more no less. If you are coming up short there may be a added spacer or dust cover hiding on either crank arm or bb taking up space.

    Hey there -- I seem to have the same, small, incorrect preload cap. Do you happen to have a part number or know which shimano crankset the preload cap you ended up using came with? Cheers!

      Hi there, they don't make it easy to reference. I think at the time I bought multiple sizes and got lucky. I will say it is the wider diameter out of the two. Here is a link to Jensen Bikes. Call them, they may help. www.jensonusa.com/Shimano-Ultegra-FC-6800-Crank-Arm-Bolt-1-Piece?loc=usa&pt_source=googleads&pt_medium=cpc&pt_campaign=&pt_keyword=&gclid=Cj0KCQjwpcOTBhCZARIsAEAYLuXWQNbXXfAAqk6A5Yy5ab7bJSRqL7tWSsLw-iUj_qLcAdaZs8eMQ_kaAsA4EALw_wcB

    Hi Bike Teacher are these compatible if i will replace to my TREK Marlin MTB this GRX-600 I have BB-52 there or do I need to buy BB-R500 for this? Pls. advise and thanks :)

      Hi. I am not sure. That’s a research question. Couple things to look out for are the spindle diameter most importantly. The width can use spacers between the frame and bb if needed.

    What grease are you using

    • @BikeTeacher
      @BikeTeacher  Рік тому

      It should be the Park Tool poly lube, green stuff. Multi purpose. Thanks

    • @alanhickerson2345
      @alanhickerson2345 Рік тому

      @@BikeTeacher Pretty sure poly lube 1000 is white / gray lithium based stuff

    • @TheyForcedMyHandLE

      @@alanhickerson2345 The florescent green grease seen in the video is Shimano grease, whereas the dark green grease he painted on was Ploylube 1000. It's a polyurea. I'm not sure which polyurea, but, in general, it's probably safe to assume that a polyurea is going to be incompatible with other greases. It's complicated compatibility issues is the reason I stopped using PPL-1. I probably wouldn't be mixing it with the Shimano grease, as shown here.
