Just a little note, Nesta is twins with Elin from 1899. Margaret was delivered with Alan George in 1894

Hi Giles, absolutely lovely, I never thought this smoothness was possible from these diminutive 0-4-0 locos, I have two similar locos both DCC chipped and both run slightly hesitantly despite how much I clean the track, I think I shall try your trick, clean the wheels, check pickups and polish the rails with Graphite, what graphite sticks do you use, 4b, 6b etc.

Wow. I’ve seen many a review video of these locos and the one common observation is that they all certainly run quite fast for their slowest speed step. You’ve taken that soooo far from being true. But clearly, not without quite a bit of effort. Fine work! And as always, very impressive. All your work contains that high level, fine finish, to the problem solving. Thank you for the video proof of concept for these locos. May I ask, what is the type and make of DCC decoder that you are using with these locos?

Thank you Kark! The decoder was
      36-571 - 6 Pin Micro DCC Loco-Decoder
From the Bure Valley Railway Shop.

Hi Giles, thanks for sharing your work with us, tried the graphite, and it kind of worked, but i got "lumpy" running, can you tell me what type you use and the rail preparation before hand ?

If I recall, it was 2D artists graphite stick - softer would do...... regarding track, if there is anything unpleasant or dodgy, I go over it with 2000 grit wet and dry, and the, polish it with Brasso or Duraglit, buffing it up well - both the top surface, and round to the inner face. If it is new track, I just polish with the Brasso or Duraglit.
