Interesting results! I have mc30’s and quad ii’s that I run a klipschorn/mx110 set up. I never really compared them with a A/B switcher, but to me the difference between the two tube amps is pretty obvious. The McIntosh has more authority in the lower frequencies. The quad is a little leaner and a little brighter. This test makes me want to get an AB switch to properly compare.

Thanks for the comments today. What Quad amp ? The mx110, khorns and mc30's are a nice set up. Having a nearly immediate switching is the only way to do an a/b test. If you have the levels matched you will probably discover very little difference in the sound, other than maybe hum or hiss with not music playing.

@@vintageaudioreview the quad ii mono blocks. Yeah I’ll have to figure out how. I actually keep the mc30’s hooked up to the klipshorns and the quad ii’s hooked up to esl57’s. And an a/b rca switch from the mx110 to the power amps to switch between the two systems

    I enjoyed that, thanks...................
I was especially interested in that Bryston, as I've commented before. Most impressive was that you were able to herd 8 Audio-Cats, all of which no doubt, with well "seasoned" preferences to uniformly participate. Well done.

Thanks for taking the time to comment- and so creatively! What I have found is that with most things folks are passionate about, "Audio cats" are like to discuss audio related topics and share the experiences they have had with current and former gear. The food/drink aspect was very good as well. We will be getting together, probably in September sometime and hopefully more of us, to do and A/B test between a Speaker cable that I will make from 12ga OFC wire and an $8k (when new) speaker cable- the kind with arrows to show you how to connect it 😁It will be using just 1 speaker, I think it is made by Usher, but don't know the model, and the bryston 2blp will be amp, and it will be at a different home. Not sure I will make it into a video yet....

Do you have a preference between Audio Research or Bryston amplifier’s?

Thanks for the question. I have only listened to one AR amp- and integrated one- and it sounded fine with the speakers. As long as the as the amp has enough power for your speakers, either should be fine. I have not heard a difference between the sound of the few amps I have a/b'd.

What is the name of that remote controlled amp switcher?

Thanks for the question. It works great for a/b'ing speakers and amps, or just as switcher. I will be using it to a/b an $8000/pair speaker cable vs a $14 speaker cable I made, this weekend- probably will do a video on that as well. I did a write-up on the A/B switcher and posted it here:
