Today, we have a really nice Bryston 4B NRB power amplifier that came in for repair. The problem with this power amplifier was with one of the channels, as the mains fuse kept blowing up on the customer. After some investigation, we find the source of the problem and bring back this dinosaur to life. The customer was happy with the outcome of this repair!

Well, dude, 8:14, the remaining insulators are stuck to the chassis... And interesting, I was told for the 4B bias target was 12mV, and take an average over the two sets of test points; therefore if one was 11mV, the other 13mV, it's good - the amp does get fairly warm at this setting though.

3AG is the fuse type
3AG - 7 means a 3AG type fuse with a 7 amp rating!
The 250 V is the is voltage rating not the unit.
mica insulators and thermal paste transfer heat better than silicone thermal pads.

Yea, I figured. Apologies if I had said the reverse thing. I did mean to say that it was a 7 AMP 250V fuse. Also, I used the silicone thermal pads since it was what I had. I did put some good quality thermal paste with the pads.

We all have to start at some point, I look at some of my early videos and cringe somewhat. Personally, I cannot understand people being rude, it's not very helpful. I tend not to take rude comments down, luckily, I get very few. I let people judge if the comments are valid or not.
I fully understand the effort it takes to produce videos for You Tube, the bloody tripod is ALWAYS in the way. My favorite trick is to forget to pin the mic back on and only notice it after 15 minuets filming. I find a 15 min video takes almost all day to film and edit. One or two of mine are almost quite good. lol@@Mr.ElectroniCET

i remember repairing my 8B-ST, Bryston wanted $30 each for their "proprietary" transistors. i ended up buying MJ21193/94 pairs for much cheaper price. i prefer these devices than 1502x devices since their current gain is much more flatter across both NPN/PNP and collector current
I'm still not sure what exact model of Motorola power transistors Bryston is using, but I don't think that they are anything too special. The ones I used in this guy are the Motorola MJ15022 and MJ15023 and seemed to work just fine.

@@Mr.ElectroniCET i have no idea too. proprietary numbers are hard to track unless someone put the originals into transistor tracer. from there we might be able to determine which transistor came the closest to those proprietary stuffs. they could be 15003/4 too
