The starting 5 is fast and efficient. It might be the most explosive offense of all the Ultimates. Lots of space for Mel and Big George. I'm not sure about Freddie Lewis over Mark Jackson. I think I want facilitating over scoring with this team. Nice job giving respect to ABA.
I expected Roger Brown on the starting SF spot, Mark Jackson instead of Haliburton (still early for him), Dale Davis instead of Granger as a rotation player and Clark Kellog and Don Buse among the honorable mentions.
The Raj over Paul George is heart over head. I could see a case for him over Grainger. PG, Reggie, Tyrese would stretch the defense wide open for Big George and Mel.
Netolicky is iconic as well but we're arguing for him. George is consistent, has size and a superior defender. The Pacers were pushing the Heatles with him and all respect to the Stars and Colonels. They weren't Super Teams.
Really want to see a deep dive on George McGinnis. Too much of his peak was in the ABA and some weak Nuggets teams, it seems like only the 3 years he spent with the Sixers gets any attention outside of specific ABA retrospectives. I think the way his career played out leaves him underrated historically.
Very cool video, Jonny! Reggie is one of my favorite players from the 90s and 2000s. He was such a great sharpshooter and he and Haliburton would be a great backcourt. PG would be a solid SF too. I didn't know much about McGinnis but it was great to learn about him. That's awesome how he could play both a physical style and w/finesse. A solid all around player. I don't think I heard much about Daniels either but learned more here also and think he and McGinnis would be a great frontcourt. The starting 5 brings a lot of great offense and would be a lot of fun to watch. Lewis and Oladipo would def. be a solid backcourt and (along with Granger) bring high-octane offense. I remember O'Neal (from his Blazers and Pacers days) and Smits (esp from the 2000 finals) They are definitely solid big men. The rotation players are great too. They bring solid shooting (Schrempf and Brown) and defense (Artest). I want to read up more on the Pacers and ABA. Roy got so much unfair hate from fans in his final year in Indy. It's sort of the first time I saw the Pacers fan base turn on a player for a rough stretch on the floor. The base turned on Metta but that was a different situation that lost Reggie his final shot at a Ring.

True, but I feel like a player needs to play at least a certain number of games for the team, in order to qualify. I don’t know exactly how many games, but probably more than the 135 that English played. That’s not even 2 seasons.

Putting Granger ahead of Jalen Rose is criminal. Rose didn't even make the rotation players? Rose was an all around player and Granger was a guy that had 3 good seasons on bad teams and someone always puts up good numbers in those situations because the points have to come from somewhere.
You can't start mcginnis in this ultimate league, too many turnovers. He would work better as a 6th man. You need oneals size and defence on the starting unit.
Yep, no weaknesses here, but lacking the strengths of a lot of East teams. I see Celtics, 76ers, Bucks, Bulls, Heat, Knicks, and Pistons finishing ahead of/right in the mix with them, but they should be able to grab a playoff spot.
Don Buse should be an honorable mention. Elite defensive guard and passer. He was an ABA champ and six time all defensive player between the two leagues.
If it were me constructing teams for a 2K sim, I would put the rookie versions of each player on the team they played their rookie year for, so there would be no repeated players on multiple teams. Then, I’d figure out how long each player was with each team and force them onto the next team they played for in the appropriate year. The g league would be filled with players who don’t make the team as rookies but might crack the lineup in future years. You could attempt to run a 20 year sim, young players who are on current rosters could be forced to stay on that team for the full sim. I’d make it so no rookies are added to the teams for the full duration of the sim. When too many players retire and the game crashes, it’s over. It’s basically all of nba history condensed, where everyone is a rookie at the same time, where peaks and regressions happen with age.
PG would BE ridiculous on that Squad! What he did in okc with russ, he is going to be even better with tyrese because tyrese is a better passer,, he gonna avg 25-30ppg on 50/40/90 pretty much... And in today's game, u gonna have lineups that are gonna go crazy! Tyrese PG artest granger and oneal, an inside presence on both ends, two top perimeter defenders, 3 guys that can really shoot... They not gonna win against the big sharks in a 7 game series, but they gonna make ir fun to watch

Even franchises that have been poverty for years have that, IT for the Pistons, Shaq/ Dwight for the Magic, KG for the TWolves, Ewing for the Knicks, KD for the Nets etc. Pacers have the second worst all time team just behind Hornets.

McGinnis led the Pacers to an ABA Finals appearance in 1975. He helped them win the ABA Championship in 1972 and '73.

Yep, no weaknesses here, but lacking the strengths of a lot of East teams. I see Celtics, 76ers, Bucks, Bulls, Heat, Knicks, and Pistons finishing ahead of/right in the mix with them, but they should be able to grab a playoff spot.

If it were me constructing teams for a 2K sim, I would put the rookie versions of each player on the team they played their rookie year for, so there would be no repeated players on multiple teams. Then, I’d figure out how long each player was with each team and force them onto the next team they played for in the appropriate year. The g league would be filled with players who don’t make the team as rookies but might crack the lineup in future years. You could attempt to run a 20 year sim, young players who are on current rosters could be forced to stay on that team for the full sim. I’d make it so no rookies are added to the teams for the full duration of the sim. When too many players retire and the game crashes, it’s over. It’s basically all of nba history condensed, where everyone is a rookie at the same time, where peaks and regressions happen with age.

PG would BE ridiculous on that Squad! What he did in okc with russ, he is going to be even better with tyrese because tyrese is a better passer,, he gonna avg 25-30ppg on 50/40/90 pretty much... And in today's game, u gonna have lineups that are gonna go crazy! Tyrese PG artest granger and oneal, an inside presence on both ends, two top perimeter defenders, 3 guys that can really shoot... They not gonna win against the big sharks in a 7 game series, but they gonna make ir fun to watch

@@TheIcemanthomasYeah but for this series it’s arguably the worst we’ve seen. Nobody here is cracking top 50 all time. Even franchises that have been poverty for years have that, IT for the Pistons, Shaq/ Dwight for the Magic, KG for the TWolves, Ewing for the Knicks, KD for the Nets etc. Pacers have the second worst all time team just behind Hornets.
1. Those guys should not be playing together at all. And 2. Daniels is a center, O’Neal is a PF.
