You also get like 700 prlz for useing the same color chips. I'm not sure if it's catigory based but I did a run with just range chips and it gave me much more then I would have if I did random colors
@@A3ONY it's like a chain. The more you use of the same color the higher the reward. However getting one different in the chain breaks it. So it helps to get room change hack to increase chip color you want.
As a Salmon Run enthousiast the big enemy crowds don't bother me so much. Playing Salmon Run for years sure is an advantage to me when it comes to enemy crowds in Side Order. I just treat every floor like Salmon Run. Crowd Control and objective. Most floors don't even need much crowd control at all though
Beaten side order 3 times and from my personal experience how i got through was focussing more on the lucky chains and having sticky ink. Turfing the ground before attacking the jelletons help weaken them faster and get through the levels quicker. Pearls disc pieces helps so much during hard/rigorous levels. So getting lucky chain helps in those situations.
The splat bomb became my main weapon in my winning run. The vending machines gave me so much ink saver sub that I could use 4 in one ink tank. It was amazing for the portal levels and especially for clearing out large groups of enemies. Sub weapons are just as important as your main!
It's cool how many skills you think are trash that turn out to be broken when maxed out. I had a run with brella where I maxed rush attack, and was able to kill the final boss by shooting the brella canopy at it then running away.
One of the Rigorous levels that has you covering two zones is SO EASY if you have a backline weapon. You can ink both from where you're standing and just Splat Jelleton after Jelleton. And I'm just a casual player who doesn't use motion controls!
@scratch_hare have fun playing that level on rigorous with 2 danger modifiers that go in tandem with each other, like ink floor and dark, or stronger jellos and missles, and if you are going lucky+drone, no items or drone. You sweet summer child, you have no idea what you are talking about.
honestly, getting the poison ink REALLY helps. also if your playing the blaster, try and get the weapon firing rate chip. it literally destroys the portals so easily
I would say, don't be discouraged by certain palettes and weapons. Surprisingly, I beat the tower first with my most disliked weapons, and learned to love some of the specials and subs I've never used before. Don't be afraid to experiment or switch up your subs and specials from the vending machine, cause that can be a huge game changer.
I always make sure to have enough to reset the level selection. Going from a rigorous danger level to a normal or even hard danger level can save your run completely, especially if you’re _really_ not confident about trying it.
For weapons like the roller that cannot move quickly, you should get the curling bomb as your sub weapon as soon as you can unlock it from the Vending machine. It will be especially helpful on Level 30 against the final boss. The best specials to have are Inkzooka and Tri-Strike because of their range. You should get those as well if you weapon doesn't already have them.
I often ignore the Jellotons on purpose but like.. actually on purpose. After you've cleared the tower once or twice and have gotten familiar with the levels and objectives, the enemies are really not that much of an obstacle anymore unless you're in a hard or rigorous level, imo. I also got two floors in a row where all 3 choices were rigorous despite the fact that I played a few hard levels just before that. For some reason it didn't balance things out. But can we just talk about how incredibly annoying the sniper towers are? They fire so fast, practically non-stop.. you have to constantly keep moving and can't get to the objective until you take them out. They're the worst 😆 Those big blob fishes that keep firing missiles, too. Both of those should definitely be taken out asap if you get the chance. I even had the final boss throw out a couple of those snipers once.. Only once, he hasn't done it again and I've finished the tower with all weapons except the Eight Palette.
i never noticed that you could go back in the elevator after u already selected a level and only noticed after i saw it in a tumblr post… my friends didnt know either.. 😭
I havent beaten side order with any weapon yet, but ive gotten close so here are my tips Dont forget you can glide. They tell you really early and i promptly forgot about it. This can be really good with the chip that makes you jump up when your armor breaks or with the springy enemies so you can reposition to a better spot Focus on the flying enemies in zones. The other enemies dont spread ink nearly as quickly. Even rigorous zones can be quite easy if you just focus on them. In zones and tower, take your time if you need to. You arent punished if the zone is taken, it just needs to be held for a certain amount of time, and the tower doesnt go backwards The big fish get distracted by the infinity ball and sometimes can set it in place for you. Also the balls cannot fall off the stage so these levels should be very easy If you see poison ink, get it if you can. It combos really well with coverage up and sticky ink and will make later big swarms of enemies much easier to deal with
Thank you for making the Salmon Run comparison. I luckily didn't have too much trouble with the first tower climb because I usually function at about 200 to 250 EVP and the types of split second life-saving decision making that is required there carries over HEAVILY.
Pro Tip: DO NOT DO SPLAT ZONE LEVELS. Ever. Not even if there’s a good chip. It’s not worth it. It’s NEVER worth it. ESPECIALLY if it’s a danger floor. This is, without fail, a run-ender.

I once had a level give me danger effects even though I could've sworn it didn't say "danger" when I selected it, but maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention.. I've also gotten 2 danger effects in 1 level twice: lights out + ink coating at the same time. I'm also curious how "bonus" works, because sometimes bonus means a bonus objective for extra points, while other times it just gives you a ton of color chips as a bonus to help you complete the level. Wonder if that's just random.
I often end up underestimating the final boss a lot until one of my most recent runs where he managed to splat me a whopping SEVEN times on his final phase alone! The lesson here is keep your guard up to the very end because some of the Final Boss' attacks can get ya by surprise.
In my experience I recommend getting keys from bosses, so at least to floor 10 if you can. Once I obtained my main weapon I cleared the tower no problem as I was very experienced with it. Take down the Jelliton snipers ASAP. I personally find them super annoying to deal with. Never back yourself into the corner/edge of the map. one hit + panicking can get you killed. (Some common sense there) I find Ink mine really useful in the DLC, and Inkstrike for the pearl drone is good. (Also if anyone has tips for using the Charger in the DLC, let me know because I do not know how to go about using it!)
Splat Gang, let's goo! I think mistakes I commonly do is forgetting that you can swap out levels that aren't great. Whether it be due to the rewards or the stages, you can always rotate them out for something better, especially during the late game. I remember on Twitter, not a lot of people go for the "Disc-Drop" chip. It's honestly good to get, as completing the disc will disable all portals and push enemies away at a far radius. Very useful for all stages and levels. I think Reefslider and Killer Wail can be pretty decent specials. Reefslider allows for a fast getaway if you don't have curling bombs/roller/brush weapon. Killer Wail can pierce through walls and multiple enemies. There are better specials, yeah, but these two are okay to hang on to if the vending machines don't give you a good stock.
Depending on your goal for a run, you will want to adjust the color chip bias hack. I have completed all of the palettes, so now I am trying to get all of the color chip logs. For example, the Brella is biased towards Drone, then power, so the support chip Brella Respawn (violet) may not show up if you set the bias back to high.
The pearl drone upgrade chips are only good when you're just running around the enemies Also they are really annoying when doing an infinity ball level Also if you don't have them unlocked they don't show up thus helping you get better chips and make better builds (imo any crowd control chip is way better than the drone 1s)
For those who are in the later half of the DLC, you can 'fish' for color chips by using the floor reset hack, and vending machine reset hack. The vending machine hacks are all really OP as the vending machine lets you swap your kit around, or lets you buy multiple chips. You can also get the 25F vending machine, and then spend all your membucks on prlz and resets, so you don't waste them.
While I’ve noticed that the rigorous are harder it’s generally manageable depending on the objective and weather or not stronger jellotons + another danger are involved
I do not recommend risky pearls. I did a risky x3 and was disappointed with the total amount of pearls i got in the end. Definitely not worth it especially with how much I personally struggled with it.😅 Its definitely the most challenging run ive faced. You can easily have a good amount of hacks and buy the pearls from the vending machine. 🎉

I see that you dont have ink mines on the pearl drone ink mines are really good on pearl drone she can place it on really good spot and if you get cornered pearl can place a ink mine infront of you snd let you a good opportunity to escape
The TL;DR: NEVER FORGET YOU CAN ALWAYS TURN AROUND AND RETURN TO THE ELEVATOR! It will cost you a heavy membux toll to do so but if you enter a floor and decide you don't like it, especially what a Danger floor's extra challenge is, then you can always turn around and walk away! I had this harsh lesson happen to me not too long ago, it was the run I thought I'd clear Eight's Palette with since it had all of the chips I thought would be ideal, a good mix of power and mobility with a some luck and Pearl Drone chips drones picked up early in the run too! It was actually pretty fun to use! But I have nobody else to blame but myself for forgetting one thing: If I enter a floor I always have the option to "Nope!" outta there. I say this because I went into a Danger floor with Stronger Jelletons and Arpeggio Barrage. Needless to say, despite my confidence in my palette that killed the run... Floor 26 too. On a side note: I did manage to beat the Eight Palette on my next run with... Perhaps the most painful palette I've ever played. I'm talking most of the run being where the most chips went into stupid shit like Hindrance Damage and Poison Ink, I got a lot of random support chips and, get this, Sound-Wave Damage popping up and NOT ONCE did Drone Killer Wail show up! I was already past Floor 20 when I STARTED getting other forms of damage (Ink Damage and such) and practically no mobility chips. Oh, and the last two chips? Lucky Bomb and Pearl Drone Splat Bomb. PEARL DID ALMOST NOTHING BUT GLIDE ASSIST THE ENTIRE RUN. I WAS ON MY OWN FOR THE DINKIEST, MOST CURSED RUN I'VE EVER HAD! It was torture! AND THIS WAS THE ONE THAT DID IT?! I'm still confused to this day...
I always use Pearl's song at the wrong time. I'll wipe out all the enemies then get the final disk piece. I haven't managed to use it well at all yet, so it might be useless any way, I don't know.
it closes all portals for a short amount of time, giving you extra time to complete the objective without enemies spawning. so it definitely isn't useless.
Meanwhile I'm trying to get all the character logs for the color chips. I know all the floors and what map it is due to diligence. That being said, do NOT attempt Risky Rewards unless you are familiar with your weapon (referring to no hack runs), but it is a great way to get a LOT of prlz along with stacking chips. I find Rigorous Portals the easiest for me to do, due to many ways you can power through (even with the lack of power chips in mind) but if you are going to go for Rigorous Zones, focus on chips that help with coverage/ink efficiency. It'll make things a bit easier. Bonus if you have Auto Aim, you can prevent certain enemies from reaching and painting your zones.
My guess would say don't buy stuff from the shop with prlz and save them for the hacks, hacks can help you when playing side order and the more good you be the helpful to get upgrades and then after you can spend prlz ( but that's you choice what you want to spend on prlz )
I don’t have a lot of time to play, but last night I actually got to 30F. Alas Order took me out even though I had walked in there with 3 lives. I know I need a little more Prlz to replay the level so I might do that tonight after work. I have one other tip that I discovered from that run to 30F I just mentioned above. For stages that can give you more membux can be interesting and relatively not too challenging to not use your sub weapon or not to jump. I came across one that said I could get more membux for not using my main weapon. I couldn’t remember what difficulty it was, but I think it was normal. I tried using my sub weapon a couple of times before I gave up and just used my main weapon as it wasn’t worth it for the extra membux which I did get some but not the max amount.
I did the final palette and I didn't find a single pearl drone chip that was game changing (taking into account I was doing a no hack run for its sticker requirements I figured it would have) which led to basically becoming far better than having an OP assist. Also, I do tend to forget my sub weapon, especially if I have a LOT of main weapon chip, but explosion-based subs have a natural knockback that can send some jelletons flying off the map
I have a really bad habit of relying on Pearl, whom I can often hyperfixate on turning into the perfect killing machine Then I get hit with a ‘no drone’ danger and I struggle. It’s even worse if I get hit with a ‘no drone OR Item Drops’ I’ve worked past this but the first time I wiped to that it truly was a come to Jesus moment.
My mistake i kept doing and didn't notice until this video was the first 1, take care of the jelitons, imma try that in my easy to medium difficulty of my personal skills
My biggest mistake was farming pearls through risky rewards instead of one tone pallets, easier and in my experience give a little more or equal pearls that x3 would
Oh also I had the opposite issue of what was mentioned in the video, over estimating rigorous levels and avoiding them at all costs Fast forward to now and I can do most rigorous levels without any color chips, especially the one where there’s three portals to destroy and it’s a big ol loop, it’s easier than some normal levels once you get the hang of it
Pearl Drone is 0/10 because she keeps throwing Splat Bombs at the Panicking Alla Mambos whenever I'm about to Jill them with Booyah Bomb, causing me to lose.
I almost beat the 30th floor with the umbrella but I got swarmed by the gelatins while I was shooting the last spawning tentacle on phase 3 and when I died I was like NNNOOO DAMNIT!!! 😮💨
i honestly never have too much of a problem with rigorous lebels unless its a double splat zones. honestly, i forget a lot of people even need these kinds of tips bc i already play a good amount of roguelikes anyway
I made it to the 30th floor and finished order on my first try I was telling myself wait I'm not prepared for this or fully decked Out but it was with the splatter shot so I'm pretty good with that weapon 🔫
i triee to do a pearl drone and luck only palette as a challenge. i was doing great until 28f when i got a danger floor that was no drone AND no item drops. i lasted about 5 minutes.
Splatgang :) btw the splatana is perfect for me BCS most frequent chips are drone and luck, and literally I have a clip where I just don’t do nothing because my drone charges itself and over and over again and danger is no problem BCS I have luck chips that they help me so literally perfect.
When you get to Eight's Palette in the post-game, don't be freaked out when it reduces your color chips based on your active hacks...chances are, you probably have enough hacks to only need 6 color chips, and, if not, you can always farm Prlz to get more hacks, and you don't even have to do risky rewards, especially since Eight's Palette and risky rewards work the same way, making it pointless, and, you'll get plenty on a normal run anyway...I made this mistake the first time I tried Eight's Palette...R E G R E T...
Zones is by far the hardest, choose is whenever you can at the start as then you will get fewer at the top. Portals is not too hard, Turbine tower is ok, and most chasers levels are easy along with all of the Infinity ball levels.
Maybe im the only one, but in my early side order runs, i used to forget that i could reroll the level choice, wich sometimes led me to choose difficult levels that i didn't want to play ( typically any rigorous splat zones level 🥲 ) and i ended up loosing my streak. So try to get hacks that reduce the price you have to pay in order ( haha ) to reroll the level choice, it really helps

Funny enough a single Inkstrike Gets rid of one of them. That Special is BROKEN in side Order.

I always go for bonus dangerous or rigorous if the chip is right, since you can sometimes get those super chip events and just steamroll the level
The pearl drone upgrade chips are only good when you're just running around the enemies
Also they are really annoying when doing an infinity ball level
Also if you don't have them unlocked they don't show up thus helping you get better chips and make better builds (imo any crowd control chip is way better than the drone 1s)
For those who are in the later half of the DLC, you can 'fish' for color chips by using the floor reset hack, and vending machine reset hack. The vending machine hacks are all really OP as the vending machine lets you swap your kit around, or lets you buy multiple chips. You can also get the 25F vending machine, and then spend all your membucks on prlz and resets, so you don't waste them.
The mistake I made was that hacks will make a problem once you get agent 8's pelette.

I find foxusing on a pallets primary and secondary tones leads to amazing results.
While I’ve noticed that the rigorous are harder it’s generally manageable depending on the objective and weather or not stronger jellotons + another danger are involved
Before a run you can decide if you want to use the drone or not: disabling the drone hacks give you slightly more chance to get everything else.
Pearl drone is a second player that can basically just spam partial specials a bombs
Sometimes you have to clear the levels quickly so the enemies won’t stack up.
I do not recommend risky pearls. I did a risky x3 and was disappointed with the total amount of pearls i got in the end. Definitely not worth it especially with how much I personally struggled with it.😅 Its definitely the most challenging run ive faced. You can easily have a good amount of hacks and buy the pearls from the vending machine. 🎉
Yeah those Rigorous levels are hard even for me I'm a Good splatoon player but those are hard
This! I'm S/S+ in ranked multiplayer and my highest Salmon Run rank is EVP 840-or-so but those Rigorous levels are no joke 😬

@@MastarSigma I tried a few, and they weren’t too bad. Although I have been a Salmon Run only player since Splatoon 2, so I have experience with clearing out hoards of enemies, meaning I can’t fairly judge them

One major mistake I made during the final boss was focusing on just the portals and not overlords attacks. Costed me a few runs.
I see that you dont have ink mines on the pearl drone ink mines are really good on pearl drone she can place it on really good spot and if you get cornered pearl can place a ink mine infront of you snd let you a good opportunity to escape
I got 947 prlz by filling my palette with all color chips of the same color, it's worth it if you want to buy hacks/items form the shop
The TL;DR: NEVER FORGET YOU CAN ALWAYS TURN AROUND AND RETURN TO THE ELEVATOR! It will cost you a heavy membux toll to do so but if you enter a floor and decide you don't like it, especially what a Danger floor's extra challenge is, then you can always turn around and walk away!
I had this harsh lesson happen to me not too long ago, it was the run I thought I'd clear Eight's Palette with since it had all of the chips I thought would be ideal, a good mix of power and mobility with a some luck and Pearl Drone chips drones picked up early in the run too! It was actually pretty fun to use! But I have nobody else to blame but myself for forgetting one thing: If I enter a floor I always have the option to "Nope!" outta there. I say this because I went into a Danger floor with Stronger Jelletons and Arpeggio Barrage. Needless to say, despite my confidence in my palette that killed the run... Floor 26 too.
On a side note: I did manage to beat the Eight Palette on my next run with... Perhaps the most painful palette I've ever played. I'm talking most of the run being where the most chips went into stupid shit like Hindrance Damage and Poison Ink, I got a lot of random support chips and, get this, Sound-Wave Damage popping up and NOT ONCE did Drone Killer Wail show up! I was already past Floor 20 when I STARTED getting other forms of damage (Ink Damage and such) and practically no mobility chips. Oh, and the last two chips? Lucky Bomb and Pearl Drone Splat Bomb. PEARL DID ALMOST NOTHING BUT GLIDE ASSIST THE ENTIRE RUN. I WAS ON MY OWN FOR THE DINKIEST, MOST CURSED RUN I'VE EVER HAD! It was torture!

I always use Pearl's song at the wrong time. I'll wipe out all the enemies then get the final disk piece. I haven't managed to use it well at all yet, so it might be useless any way, I don't know.
it closes all portals for a short amount of time, giving you extra time to complete the objective without enemies spawning. so it definitely isn't useless.

I'd say the only time it's okay to not use the Pearl chips is if you're going for something where you only use 1 colour
Throwing sprinklers in the middle of narow paths slow down and even roadblocks enemies.
Meanwhile I'm trying to get all the character logs for the color chips. I know all the floors and what map it is due to diligence. That being said, do NOT attempt Risky Rewards unless you are familiar with your weapon (referring to no hack runs), but it is a great way to get a LOT of prlz along with stacking chips.
I find Rigorous Portals the easiest for me to do, due to many ways you can power through (even with the lack of power chips in mind) but if you are going to go for Rigorous Zones, focus on chips that help with coverage/ink efficiency. It'll make things a bit easier. Bonus if you have Auto Aim, you can prevent certain enemies from reaching and painting your zones.
My guess would say don't buy stuff from the shop with prlz and save them for the hacks, hacks can help you when playing side order and the more good you be the helpful to get upgrades and then after you can spend prlz ( but that's you choice what you want to spend on prlz )
I don’t have a lot of time to play, but last night I actually got to 30F. Alas Order took me out even though I had walked in there with 3 lives. I know I need a little more Prlz to replay the level so I might do that tonight after work.
I have one other tip that I discovered from that run to 30F I just mentioned above. For stages that can give you more membux can be interesting and relatively not too challenging to not use your sub weapon or not to jump. I came across one that said I could get more membux for not using my main weapon. I couldn’t remember what difficulty it was, but I think it was normal. I tried using my sub weapon a couple of times before I gave up and just used my main weapon as it wasn’t worth it for the extra membux which I did get some but not the max amount.

I did the final palette and I didn't find a single pearl drone chip that was game changing (taking into account I was doing a no hack run for its sticker requirements I figured it would have) which led to basically becoming far better than having an OP assist.
Also, I do tend to forget my sub weapon, especially if I have a LOT of main weapon chip, but explosion-based subs have a natural knockback that can send some jelletons flying off the map

I have a really bad habit of relying on Pearl, whom I can often hyperfixate on turning into the perfect killing machine
Then I get hit with a ‘no drone’ danger and I struggle. It’s even worse if I get hit with a ‘no drone OR Item Drops’
I’ve worked past this but the first time I wiped to that it truly was a come to Jesus moment.
The only mistake about sub weapon is to not pick sprinkler over anything else

My mistake i kept doing and didn't notice until this video was the first 1, take care of the jelitons, imma try that in my easy to medium difficulty of my personal skills
My biggest mistake was farming pearls through risky rewards instead of one tone pallets, easier and in my experience give a little more or equal pearls that x3 would
Oh also I had the opposite issue of what was mentioned in the video, over estimating rigorous levels and avoiding them at all costs
Fast forward to now and I can do most rigorous levels without any color chips, especially the one where there’s three portals to destroy and it’s a big ol loop, it’s easier than some normal levels once you get the hang of it
Playing with only orange chips is so fun and mixing it with green ones
I actually never saw the danger level more than once per screen so I don’t bother with it if it’s on hard and/or doesn’t have a chip I want
Pearl Drone is 0/10 because she keeps throwing Splat Bombs at the Panicking Alla Mambos whenever I'm about to Jill them with Booyah Bomb, causing me to lose.
monochrome Pearl levels are the easiest with the drawback that you have no idea what's going on
I have watched a video where the drone itself killed the final boss on its own, GET DRONE CHIPS
I almost beat the 30th floor with the umbrella but I got swarmed by the gelatins while I was shooting the last spawning tentacle on phase 3 and when I died I was like NNNOOO DAMNIT!!! 😮💨

i honestly never have too much of a problem with rigorous lebels unless its a double splat zones. honestly, i forget a lot of people even need these kinds of tips bc i already play a good amount of roguelikes anyway
I made it to the 30th floor and finished order on my first try I was telling myself wait I'm not prepared for this or fully decked Out but it was with the splatter shot so I'm pretty good with that weapon 🔫
i triee to do a pearl drone and luck only palette as a challenge. i was doing great until 28f when i got a danger floor that was no drone AND no item drops.
i lasted about 5 minutes.
Splatgang :) btw the splatana is perfect for me BCS most frequent chips are drone and luck, and literally I have a clip where I just don’t do nothing because my drone charges itself and over and over again and danger is no problem BCS I have luck chips that they help me so literally perfect.

When you get to Eight's Palette in the post-game, don't be freaked out when it reduces your color chips based on your active hacks...chances are, you probably have enough hacks to only need 6 color chips, and, if not, you can always farm Prlz to get more hacks, and you don't even have to do risky rewards, especially since Eight's Palette and risky rewards work the same way, making it pointless, and, you'll get plenty on a normal run anyway...I made this mistake the first time I tried Eight's Palette...R E G R E T...

Nah buffing your main weapon is more important, mainly because you can't control Pearl so she's not that useful.

Zones is by far the hardest, choose is whenever you can at the start as then you will get fewer at the top. Portals is not too hard, Turbine tower is ok, and most chasers levels are easy along with all of the Infinity ball levels.

Maybe im the only one, but in my early side order runs, i used to forget that i could reroll the level choice, wich sometimes led me to choose difficult levels that i didn't want to play ( typically any rigorous splat zones level 🥲 ) and i ended up loosing my streak. So try to get hacks that reduce the price you have to pay in order ( haha ) to reroll the level choice, it really helps
