Nice to see actual Temp Readings for an OEM Heater. Don't own/use Block Heaters on my Vehicles... But have been trying to setup a Smart Plug/Automation to basically automatically turn on/off a Device when the Temperature in a Room(s) are above/below certain Temps. Suppose for people with a Block Heater... If they remember to Plug it in... They could set it to Turn On when the Outside Temperature (at your location/city) drops say to 20F and only run say 30 minutes (just before your planned departure time)... and if say 10F (-10F)for 60 (90) minutes, etc. etc.
Thanks for stopping by! An on/off switch based on temp sounds really interesting, you should make a YT video on it once you figure it out! I’ve read online that some folks have theirs plugged into a timer, programmed to automatically turn on at a certain time. But I think a switch based on temp takes it to the next level.
@MidwestF150 Since you mentioned a Menards in your Area... You might consider trying the Black Friday sale on Smart Plugs ($7.99 -4 pack) from Sylvania... Those are one of the Plugs I'm considering trying this year. Has the Automation options for Temp/Weather/Time options.
Wyze (Some folks from Amazon) has some great home automation. I have used their smart plugs with humidifiers, fans and space heaters Their cameras rock and very affordable.
I use mine all winter for about 1 hour or 2 if it's colder than 0 or -16 like today before I start the truck. It may cost 20 to 40 cents in electricity per day but it's better than burning $1 per day in gas to get up to the same starting temp as being plugged in plus no dry starts do to cold oil,
Outstanding
@@Snowcrash1966 hey Snowcrash, thanks for checking out another video!

@@Snowcrash1966 hey thanks for sharing!!! Appreciate it!
Nice find. It's designed to preheat the oil in the pan.
@@usocrazy6133 thanks! It’s nice!

Hi Mars! Thanks for stopping by. I like your approach! That’s what I’ll likely be doing.
