Thank you for having us! Amazing shop great people. Glad I had a chance to swing through let alone be on your channel 🙏🫀
Absolute pleasure Seth! We would love to see you again very soon!
Kudos to Gray's for having Seth and I on the channel and having a chat. Risky business, giving Seth and I microphones!😀Thanks to the staff at the store and to all who might have tuned in! All Best, Joe
Our pleasure Joe! What a blast!
I wish Seth and Joe would cover their hair care products.
Spectacular podcast! Seth’s and Joes idea of recording Gray’s history is spot on. Thank you Becky, Kon and Gray’s for providing these podcasts. Thank you Seth and Joe for sharing with us. 📷☕️👏🏻
Loved Seth's comment about showing a portfolio before following some content creators because I have come to the same conclusion. I am not interested in watching content put out there by gear hawks. I want to see the experience that actual "photographers" have with this gear. The only ones I subscribe to either make a living as a photographer or show enough of their own work that I find them credible. What both Joe and Seth said about intent of the image rings true with my own experience and is something I try to encourage with people I know who are less experienced with this craft. I don't consider myself any kind of expert, but I have had some years spent getting paid to shoot for clients, and this was one of the biggest lessons learned for me. Great video. Wish I had a good excuse to be in London!
Always a pleasure to hear and see such a great gang, having this sort of discussion. Special thanks to Joe and Seth of course, for sharing their lifetimes of experience. Huge respect! ❤
A conversation for the ages! This was undoubtedly one of the greatest conversations I've ever heard on photography.
Two masters of the craft and great people too! Self Confidence is key because letting the work speak for itself.
Absolutely brilliant wee hour with Seth and Joe. If I won the lottery there wouldn't be many signs apart from a big shop at Grays and a workshop with Joe and Seth and, oh and a big house with a studio
fun chat. I was one of the assistants who never really understood most of that jargon on sets like Seth says. Anyways, we all get to where we are going in our own way.
The Interview was Tremendously Insightful, real world practical, and profoundly real!!! RE: the Store itself I have loved visiting 40 Churton Street for Years Now. One of the most Unique Havens Worldwide for Photographers!!! Again Thank you all for Your informed Perspective!!!
All my favorite people in one place!
Totally agree the best!!! I have the biggest smile on my face and learnt so much. Thank you
Thank you, thank you!
One of the best, genuine, from the heart panels you've had.
Thank you.
Most amazing Friday Chat ever!
I agree! Best video ever!
"People are always looking for something to say."
So true. I just want to say those things with my art.
Great chat with all of you. Candid and real. Love these chats.
This was pure Gold!
Absolutely marvellous great to see Joe and Seth in Grays well done Kon and Becky what a laugh cant believe there was not one coffee in sight.
I had mine on the floor...😀
Thanks. Always a pleasure.
Brilliant discussion. Lots of insights.
I really enjoyed this chat, Joe & Seth work so well together! The Nikon School workshop was absolutely fantastic and went very well as far as I was concerned, it was absolutely amazing to have Joe & Seth there on hand while we were shooting to get their input and looking at things in different ways, an amazing couple of days! Neil and Ricci did an absolutely fantastic job as always organising it all for us and the Profoto guys were amazing too and to top it all off we had some very special talent to work with in a wonderful space! I hope to see you guys in the shop again soon 😊
Thank you, Oliver! See you again next year hopefully!
@@JoeMcNally I definitely hope so Joe!!!
Wow - that was brilliant. Thanks all…
Excellent podcast. Lots of words of wisdom in there for sure.
Great Podcast!
great interview. thanks for the recommendation of joe's book.
OMG four legends together AMEN !
Iv'e followed Joe McNally for decades and I can listen to his insights all day long, he is the father of the Nikon Creative Lighting System with speed lights. I watch Seth from time to time and he has a lot of knowledge to share and doesn't put up with a lot of bull, he is a straight shooter. I'm not a big flash photographer but appreciate greatly what these 2 gentlemen offer to the world of photography. The point of people chasing specs and basically looking for technology to make them a great photographer is all too common. You have to learn by doing, experimenting, reading books and practice, practice, practice. The camera is just a tool, have your vision and know enough about your equipment to know how to use it to help produce your vision, brand doesn't matter and don't believe the B.S. that every time a new model comes out somehow you suddenly can't take great pics anymore with what you own. Pro's won't change cameras unless it makes their job easier and that saves time and money to justify the purchase, amateurs as many of us are don't always methodically justify a purchase and we are the guys the camera brands count on to spend the $$$$. Thank you Becky and Konstantin for a delightful show 5 Stars my friends. - Jeff
Well said ❤
Thanks for the kind words! It was fun bouncing ideas and viewpoints around with Kon, Becky and Seth....
Can’t say how much I’ve enjoyed this! Have learned a great deal from Seth’s demo archives, and Joe’s book has been on my wish list for months now (since April). What lovely, humble, funny, intelligent, witty chat!
Appreciate you checking out my demos thank you 🙏
@@LastXwitness - have been a subscriber of yours (& Adorama) for a couple of years or so (I don't really keep track) - thank YOU!
Really enjoyed that, thank you
Superb, Joe, the Real Deal is a great book, I will look to purchasing Sketching with Light, you are both inspirational, even to an amatuer like myself, Becky, Kon and Grey, thanks for inviting Seth and Joe to entertain and teach us at the same time on your platform 👏👏👏
Thank you! Enjoy the books....they were fun to write. (Now that they're done....😉
Never to old to learn, along with you, Moose, P, and Scot Kelby and others, my reference library of photography books is growing steadily 😊
Great Stream. Never get tired of listening to Joe and Seth.
Thank you Debra!!
Brilliant. I loved it!
Excellent, thank you all!
Enjoyed that immensely very good. I feel Christmas just came early. Well done.
The best podcast thank you for sharing 👏👏
This was wonderful, and, I might add, inspirational.
Wow! Such great dialog. Spoken from the heart. Thank you for sharing guys.
I enjoy watching videos of photographers that do the field. I really can't get out like I use too. I grew up with a camera and my dad did printing by eye on a large press. When I do shoot today. It's usually one shot and done LOL. Or I don't shoot at all because it's not something that's unique. Thank you guys for giving good content.
It was a great discussion!
Really interesting conversation.
Please ask Joe, if he's still around, to tell Nikon to re-upload the Nikon F6 promo videos he did while in Guadalajara..... the heart to Tequila. 🌵
For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about....
Joe McNally photographed the photos for the Nikon F6 brochure which were also part of a BTS promo campaign (in Jalisco, Mexico) for the F6. If remember correctly, they were originally uploaded to a Nikon F6 website back in 2005 but have since been considered 'lost media.'
Good one!
Such a great stream! Loved listening to all of you.
I thoroughly enjoyed this podcast. It's fascinating to watch four people with such a depth of knowledge exchange funny anecdotes and solid advice. Thank you all!
All best back to you Simon!
This video was needed! Very good points here everyone. Thank you for sharing!
Hello you Four, What a super chat. Only half way though this youtube and it dose show you just how good these two guests are. Allot for great points. But across in such a fun way.
Epic! 👍🏾
This is a fantastic video. The commentary from Joe and Seth is fabulous. Likewise, from Becky and Kon. The insights, thoughts, observations, whatever, are just great. Loved it. To hear working pros 'unplugged' or 'unfiltered' is a masterclass in itself. To borrow a phrase from British English, this video was "brilliant", not to mention spontaneous. That might be why it was so good. Well done to all of you, thank you. You proved your chops :)
This was an excellent video - one of your best! Seth and Joe had so much useful and sensible stuff to say and you both had the wisdom to take a back seat and let them say it. An 'interview' that I shall keep coming back to!
Genuinely a really enjoyable watch and listen. Would seriously love to see and hear them both again in this format in the near future. Its been one of those watches were I didn't want it to end. I wasn't aware that there was such a big connection between Joe and Seth. Truly love the Nikon brand and equipment, but when prices of camera bodies (and lenses I guess) started to go on a ballistic trajectory somewhere around the D3s I could no longer justify the cost of the pro bodies let alone two identical ones at a time. Very sad day when I stopped being a Nikon user. Thanks to my fantastic F4E for getting me into being a loyal Nikon user.
I'm so glad you guys talked about "chops." It's true - I can tell people the settings I use for photojournalism, knowing that doesn't also give them my perception and education. Knowing the deeper context behind image making has 100% aided my instincts in the critical moments.
Nothin' takes the place of chops. A camera can't think its way out of a tough spot.
Thanks, This was great 👍 👍!!!
Great interview. Great guests!
Well done Kon, just keep working that Becky puppet. So lifelike; great job- I don’t think anyone else noticed the strings. 😊
This conversation was a lot of fun.
Nikon f4s and Metz CT4! One of my old favorite combos!
Loved it!
Love these talks but sooo gonna miss Becky every week 😢
Kon will be fine though, and with his newfound interests in macro, flower, urban street dance, hip-hop, lace and doily photography, I think we'll be ok 🙂
Kon's just gonna have to fly Seth and I over every week.
Thankyou
Where are Ricci and Hilmer? Have you heard from them?
Supreme !
You have to tell me if you shot this video in Neutral profile or was it Flat/N-log and then graded. Picture Quality is Excellent! Cheers!
Still watching it !!! More info avaiable here then in 3 hrs' of classes :{)
Smart phones have advanced to the point that there is no more market for consumer cameras, so camera manufacturers are desperate to stay in business. The only way is to keep "improving" their products with ridiculous specs. I still shoot weddings with a pair of D750 cameras and a Z7 for portraits. I had the Z7 for 2 years and it was already "outdated" when the Z7II came out.
I have to disagree with Joe regarding adding silver modifier to light up your necks.
In contrary I like this "cave" atmosphere. Even make it a bit more dark to get more realistic. Also open fireplace and red/yellow shimmering flames tongues seen in your eyes. Crackling fire in the background. I can smell the smoke in the room. The great scenery of gathering friends talking about lighting, gears.
Great session!🤩
Good idea...that would be a cool set for sure, and hugely appropriate, esp for Seth and his wonderful wandering imagination.
