Topanga is finally here!!!! The future Mr. and Mrs. Cory Matthews meet for the first time as they are teamed up for a school project.
Danielle, Rider, and Will are joined by writer, producer and director extraordinaire, David Trainer to discuss Episode 4. This is the one where Topanga does her iconic dance and Cory has hair issues. Danielle reveals not only the origin of the dance but the secrets to her own hair!!

Seeing Rider shovel his lunch was so satisfying to watch in sitcoms when most people leave full breakfast spreads untouched. It was a fantastic decision.
Eric and Topanga are both those kind of supporting characters that made the show something far and above.
What if Shawn's sister was a "step sister." As if Chet had a girlfriend, and he just used sister as a quicker explanation around the kids with "normal" families.

@@allison3852 no Shawn really doesn’t have a sister he just got lines from someone else that had a sister kind of like how Topanga had a sister for one episode and then never had a sister again
I like that explanation... maybe him and Verna were on a break we didn't know about cause the show wasn't focused on them yet, and that's why Verna eventually left lol
BTW Ryder eating was always great. He just seemed so real and non caring what people thought. It really was part of his character to me.
More recently, Amy and Bernadette changed The Big Bang Theory drastically. Amy didn't appear until season 4, and I believe Bernadette was season 3.
Erin on THE OFFICE was a breakout character.
Thank you guys for doing this. I won't bore you with the same 'grew up with you' shpeal. But it's super fun recapping this with you all! I cant wait for more episodes!

I just found out this podcast even exists because I had decided to binge watch the show on Disney plus and came to UA-cam to search out some bloopers. I am a few episodes into this podcast and it’s sooo good and it’s amazing how y’all are still so close and you are all so so cool and down to earth 😊

Anyone else remember when the cast of Boy Meets World hosted the ABC Saturday morning preview? Danielle came in with her natural non-crimped hair and Ben mentioned that it looked different. She explained that it what her hair looked like in real life and Ben said he was going to let her have it that way on the show. She asked if he could do that and he said yes because he's the star of the show.

As both an aspiring scriptwriter and a fan, I absolutely love this podcast! Learning and seeing it from their perspective is incredible!
I always thought Topanga made a heart on her face with the lipstick and then the cross was like a broken heart. It’s like making up the lyrics to a song and finding out you were wrong for a bazillion years 😄

It was in a later season that Topey made the lipstick heart.
It's because in Season.... 6 I think, whenever Josh is born - Topanga recreates a small portion of that dance, and she draws a heart on her face with lipstick and then Cory's. So you are probably remembering that one, and then you think it must have been in the original too, even though it wasn't, it was a circle.
Thanks guys-I remember discovering BMW when I was a young adult-and thinking “that Ben kid is a really poised actor (maybe more talented than his older brother),” Then catching a couple more episodes and identifying with so much from the show. In middle and high school, I remember being a floater between the weirdo Topenga table and the Cory/Sean table. In the end, I probably identified more with the weirdos, but had a hard time admitting it. Ahh, the insecurities of adolescence!!
My 15 year old daughter has finished binge-watching the entire show, and is now listening to the podcast with me. She has an interest in stage acting through church, school, and community theater, so It’s super fun for her to listen to your stories and technical talk as you discuss your experiences as young actors. What a great thing to share with my daughter. She (we) especially enjoy the comments from Ryder’s son, Indy (sorry about spelling if I messed it up).
It’s rare to have a show that balances wholesomeness, cornball-kid, and adult appeal for multi-generational viewing.
I don’t know if you have discussed this yet, but if you haven’t maybe you can in a later podcast: How did you all avoid those child actor pitfalls that make the news so often? You all seem to have grown up to be such humble, mature, and grounded individuals. Was this just coincidence, or was there something about your production that protected you from growing up too quickly and being caught up in the self-destructive behaviors that tempt many child actors?

I love watching David as he just watches you talk about the episode. The pride he has for you three is so evident. It's like a proud parent. So sweet watching him have so much pride for how amazing you three are. As actors, and just as human beings.
I'm sure it's been said many times, but thank you for making this pod show. One of those "I didn't know I needed this till it was here" moments, and I'm not ashamed to say I may have squealed like a 5 year old when I saw the first one pop up in my recommendeds. You were my childhood! And I still secretly wish I had a Mr. Feeny in my life. He will always be one of my all time favorite characters of all time. And I still have a magnet on my fridge of Danielle from when the internet was still young, and there was a website called celebritysightings that had all the young actors and actresses come on and talk to fans in chatrooms.
Great show, great pod, great people! Thank you for loving it as much as we did.
I wish you guys went into/talked about meeting Danielle for the first time, like first impressions or if you remember what it was like acting together for the first time - like u did in the previous episodes with Will and Rider, and Bill/Bonnie, but this was still a great listen/watch anyways, very informative and fun! thank you for sharing this with us here (even if I'm a few months late lol) I'll be here for whenever u pick up the next season and so-on forth.
I truly love that you guys still mention Ben and give us nuggets about him and appreciate him. It makes me wonder what Ben would share if he did this podcast and im glad we get to hear some things from you guys.

Idk if it’s a copyright issue but you should include clips from the show that your talking about. That way we kind of all watch again together. Most of us haven’t seen it since the 90s or early 2000s either. That would enhance the experience 10x

I was watching this episode last night, it's really really good.
I rewatched this episode and something I found ironic. The report Shawn and Cory give actually wasn’t terrible or as Feeny said stinks.
In all honestly it was actually pretty good, Keeping in mind they are 11 years old and in elementary school.
They research geography of the two cities, mention the terrain of Rocky Mountains and elevation for Denver, Delaware basin and sea level for Philadelphia.
They then transition it to mentioning how this effects the air quality in both cities and then make a decent transition and tie it in with why 6th graders should care and what that would mean to the average kid by applying it to baseball team in both cities and give stats from the sports teams and use terms like acceleration and velocity.
For an 11 year old to give facts, then transition it and tie it in (ignoring the pointers) And keep in mind they are 11 speaking in front of the class something older kids have trouble with and they have great voice inflation, aren’t reading from notes and have solid eye contact; don’t see how that stinks and in actuality would warrant a B if not better
We absolutely know you love it, I wholeheartedly believe you wouldn't put out podcast without all the love in the world of showing both sides being open and honest communication. Growing up with Boy Meets World this is a side I think is important to see as we grow up we all learn from the past, and I love hearing all of the sides to be able to build a cohesive picture of what it was like to make this show it makes me love it more, yes because all of its important the good and the bad

Hi ! I love the podcast and ive been a fan of the show since I was little watching alongside my older brother, im now 26! I have watched the entire series probably 3 times haha . I just wanted to make a small suggestion for the podcast that im not even sure is possible but i thought id give it a shot. I was wondering if its possible to insert clips of the scenes you guys discuss, when you talk about some moments in the scene that sound so interesting I keep wishing that I could see what youre talking about without having to dig into it and fast forward lol. That would be awesome! For example sometimes you mention how the characters had to stand at a certain angle or a certain prop was used . Thank you!!!
So often you hear about child actors that are damaged from terrible experiences they had being famous so young. It’s so refreshing to hear about child actors that actually had a great experience, stayed grounded and out of trouble, and being in Hollywood didn’t mess up their lives. All of you grew up to productive adults with fond memories of their time on this great show. I’m so glad I had a show like yours to watch while I was growing up. I don’t think TV will ever be the same again.
Danielle says in an interview that Marc Jacobs wanted a protective family setting for his cast and crew. Everyone looked out for each other. They were very lucky.
I watch it from the very beginning when it originally aired. And Topanga was just the wierd girl in Cory's class at first. Until she kissed him and his hair stood up like Einstein.
I really loved the wcting you guys did. It will always be my favorite show ever. There has been nothing like it since.
I’m surprised they comment on so many things that wouldn’t be okay today, but Cory and Topanga’s first kiss they say nothing… if u switch their genders, there would be a lot more people making a much bigger fuss about it

Here’s what I would do with the relationship to of Cory and Topanga to make it more realistic. Cory would support Topanga in her decision to go to Yale. Shawn would date Teresa (and break up before graduation)- but find Angela in college. Minkus and Topanga would compete in a Jeopardy type competition to see who would get to be VD at the graduation. Mr. Feeney would retire, with Turner taking his place as Principal. Amy and Allen would announce the pregnancy- giving birth to Joshua a season later, (with the whole 9 months thing- giving Morgan an opportunity to grow as a character as well- being an older sibling and the coping with the fact that her two older brothers are out of the house.) and adjusting to a fourth child. Eric l- after taking a gap year to improve his personhood, moves in with Jack at college, (and comes out to his parents as gay). Jack volunteers at an orphanage, as he’s an education major, which would bring in the story arch with Tommy. Rachel would be the RA in Corey’s dorm hall at Pembroke where he and Shawn would be roommates.
Thus giving a fine conclusion to those characters we have been so long with, whilst giving an introduction to the new, and character arches to the recurring. As it is, at least for me- Boy Meets World was good for the first 5 seasons. Then, it just kind of faded out. The ladder seasons had some good ideas, but they felt half-baked in the execution and the writers felt they didn’t want to do it anymore, but they had to because it was a hit.
The circled plus sign is actually a symbol for Earth. I always thought that was intentional.
Rewatching this show again and it feels like yesterday. Hahaha. I really love Cory’s natural acting and Topanga’s character and Erics pretty face conceited character (he is actually a pretty boy) and Shawn’s bad influence to Cory. Hahaha

Yeah, sounds like he's just using the built in mic on his webcam. But he's only there for 2 shows, for him probably one continuous session, so he would have ended up buying a mic for a podcast and likely never using it again.

I caught up with the podcast, and I'm so proud of all of you and couldn't be more excited to see more, I love learning about stories that you guys didn't know about and I feel so bad for the female writers and would love to learn more about that side. at first i was like "come on how could you not know that about hair" but then i had to think about it.....white boys just dont understand. as someone who has had his hair braided since being a pre-teen, its just common sense that TYING your hair will create waves. it doesnt just magically go back to its default pattern once the braid is gone lol. so cute

I believe they're all there just labeled a little confusingly.
The only ones that are missing so far are the ones that are audio only (1x02 and William Russ's Interview).

I just re watched the whole 7 seasons again I remember watching it all the time growing up in the 90s and to go back and re watch all of it and be able to take in more of the lessons as an adult and seeing one filming mistake in erics interview with dean rivers and he stands up and he says I wanna go here, you can see the microphone from the boom arm a just barley but it is there.
This was awesome! I can't wait to hear more about a show that help shape us

Listening to this podcast, it's lovely to hear every episode at the start of it how much they love Ben. I wish he could have been apart of the podcast, but I know he has a bunch going on irl to be on the podcast as a regular.
