Welcome to the GS3MP club! I got an EK43s to sit next to it and have never been happier! My machine is the one prior to the new connectivity things but it seems LM haven’t really pushed the envelope too far with the tech- not that it would worry me as the machinery is bulletproof and that is what truly matters! I have not been game enough to explore too much pressure profiling over the years as I struggle with enough variables as it is 😂 Enjoy your new toy!
Cheers, the new IOT app can be retrofitted to your machine soon! check out our videos to get your grind and extraction standardised, then get playing with the pressure! 💥
You don't have to remove the right panel to adjust the tea temp - it's accessible at the base of the panel while installed. Run your finger along the bottom edge and you'll feel it. Great review! Love my GS3.
Nice work! I’ve had a GS3 for about 8 years, it’s awesome and very low maintenance. I do have a couple of gripes. I do think for such an expensive machine, the feet/base of the machine is/are a bit ‘tinny’. Also the brew exhaust outlet comes with a sieved cap, which is prone to clogging and caused me some early problems. Once I removed the sieve, all was fine. The sieved cap on an exhaust outlet seems like a bit of a design flaw. But overall, great machine.
On the wifi issue, if you use something like Orbi 6, it knows how to run both 2.4 and 5GHz in the same time and switch seamlessly between them. No problems with my mini. Runs smoothly
It is a very nice machine and would make great coffee however I guess you need to decide whether you want a single group machine or a two group machine. Having a single group machine will limit the speed at which you can make and serve coffee. I'd recommend watching this video here which I think you will find very helpful: ua-cam.com/video/cNuMsQ0IPp4/v-deo.html
Thank you very much beautiful review🙏 I have the same machine how much do steamer milk should be mine is 125 "c how much yours appreciate it for your answer thank you❤🙏
Are you supposed to bleed the steam and brew boilers the first time you fire this machine up? When you triggered the steam valve 9 minutes it didn't seem like there was any water in the steam boiler? Might have been switched off though.
we did not have to bleed the boilers, on commercial machines yes you should, this machine did not have easy access to the head so i would assume LM don't want you to play too much when setting these up. Always good to have the steam wand open at first to push the air out of the boiler so it does not get trapped inside and not heat up because the pressure switch is sensing air, not steam.
My GS3's now on its way and am so excited - Sydney seemed to be cleared of GS3 stock and I couldn't get it sooner! Do you have a recommended pressure profile that you could use for most medium roasts?
@@ArtistiCoffeeRoasters sounds good as a starting point, thank you - how many seconds in each pressure level would you suggest (based on a 18-20g dose)?
Simon Holland that’s a big call for me to make the choice for you. 😂! There is $3500 difference in price. Also the price in Australia is going up in October. Like anything, if you can afford the gs3, then go for it, it has all the mini features and more!
Do you know how much the LM prices (if not just the GS3) is to go up by? I'm also in Australia, and very close to pulling the trigger on the GS3, may need to pull it a bit earlier if the increase is sizeable!
Great review, Thank you for sharing mate!! I have recently got my own GS3 mp, I have used it for over 2 months now, I didn't do the bleeding initially when I setup the machine, can I do it now? I found the max pressure is just a bit lower than 9 bar, is that because I didn't do the bleeding initially? Thank you again mate!
It could be, but your pump can go up a little. I would say it’s that more so if you have been using the machine for a while, the air should have cleared. It’s the nut on the side of the pump that you screw in or out.
Thank you. The gs3 and slayer achieve the same concept but in different ways. The build and brand of the lm is better, but the slayer is more technical in its variable pressure applied to the coffee. It’s design is also very sexy
Thanks for the excellent unboxing. I'm in geelong/vic - the leper colony atm - and am thinking of upgrading from ym fully automatic machine at home (built in) to something like this. I have one question if thats ok? Lots of reviews I've read, about various machines - seem to indicate it can be difficult to fix a machine once something goes wrong with it. Is this your experience? or , more to the point, do you think the La Marzocco GS3 would be easy to repair if something went worng? Big thanks. John
Hi John, if you stick with the better brands that have support in Australia. we do lots of servicing on LM, Giotto, quickmil and brands that have the same look as these. any brand that has a good commercial brand and does domestic gear you will be fine. in Vic coffee machine technologies can support you for servicing, tell them we sent you, they are our i-milk distributor in Vic.👍
Awesome video as usual! Is that a Precision grinder on your counter at home? I am currently considering one but not many reviews are out there, it would be great to know more about it! Keep it up! All best from Melbs.
its a cheap Chinese one that we sell, $650 on sale at $552.50 on our web store. it has all the features of a mini Mazzer but not the price tag. artisti.com.au/products/qm-60-elec-grinder
the new app is easier to change boiler temps for sure and have some brew data from your machine. This is the upgrage LM need to enable app connectivity, keep an eye out for future App updates, and see if you like the additional updates go for it. its the future for sure in more than just the linea mini and GS3.
Hi. I enjoyed your video. I got my GS3 MP a few months ago and so far I'm happy with it. Have 2 questions: 1. The temperature on your GS3 display is close to 92C. Is that the boiler temperature or the group head temperature? 2. What temperature do you recommend for a somebody like me, who is new to espresso coffee. Thank you.
glad you love your GS3. Q1- its the coffee boiler temp, the rear boiler is 127 deg. Q2: 92.5 for light roasts, 93.5 for darker roasts then when comfortable have a play in between
OK. What do the shots taste like?? All that matters. I never heard of straight 3BAR before. Why? I HAVE heard about low pressure pre-infusion, then 9 BAR, or 9BAR declining. Or 6BAR. For 8K, it seems ridiculous to have to put up with brown water in your face. I think this valve arrangement is LM trying to catch up. Do you think GS3 is worth it? Vs the Linea Mini, or stepping up to Speedster, single group Hydra MP, or Slayer? I guess you’re buying the commercial saturated group for less money than the steps up I mentioned. Now there’s so many options. Where do you think the GS3 fits? Thanks.
So many questions in this post, if you look at the decent espresso extractions they are chasing 2-3 bar and filtering the coffee puck top and bottom, now that’s getting really tech. But is it good? That’s really In the mouth of the taster. Many people love a 9 bar espresso extraction, me included! The valve, well yes it’s not pressure contrôlée by a pump or cpu, pretty sure (but don’t quote me) it was the first to have pressure variation is the high end home machines. Every machine you have mentioned has a unique focus on extraction or features they are good at making. The mini is amazing value for saturated groups and fantastic steam, hands down that in it self is worth the $5k. The gs3? Well I wanted to play more so I invested in it. I’m looking to make some visual mods to it and that’s what I personally like.
Artisti Coffee Roasters. I’m trying to pull some more content out of this. The GS3 I believe has a Strada mod, as well as people turning into a GS3+ Slayer. I’m aware of Decent profiles. I was asking about how your pull tasted. The filter papers were paired with Scott Rao type “blooming shot” and I think very fine grinds (to hold back the fines and thus prevent choking). Jim Schulman (on HB) has pulled 60 sec+ shots on his Bianca with no paper and TURKISH grind. You can’t go finer without making snuff. He roasts and for the bean in question it was delicious. So what I’m going for here, is what you’re going for, how did it work, and how you like the machine? Would you buy it again? When the GS3 first came out it was pretty much top of the line for home enthusiasts. Now there’s a lot out there.
ill do a video with different pressure profiles and assess the taste for you! i like the GS3, its alot of $ for a little bit of improvement to the mini. for me being able to customise it (ill do this when i have time and hope to video it) was a driving factor. if i sell it, i wont buy another, mainly because i change machines every few year to assess the learn more about the different models as part of my industry use/servicing growth. there are more technical machines out there, if you like the tech and can afford the $12k for a slayer, go for it, i nearly got one this time but i felt it was too bigger jump for me in $.
Artisti Coffee Roasters. If I were you (as a roaster with a shop) I would get a Decent to play with. They’re coming out with a cafe model. So you can explore your roasts. If I had a cafe, I’ll share this. I’m in Auroville , India, where we have a boutique roaster and shop : Marc’s Cafe. The guy has a string of 7 or 8 signature roasts and blends, all Indian beans, mostly locally sourced. He had an old La Pavoni commercial 3 group lever. I tried every single one of Marc’s roasts as espresso including LR single origin and NEVER HAD A BAD SHOT. More they were delicious. All of them, switched at will, single dosed in the grinder. He unfortunately switched to a commercial Astoria pump and the espresso instantly became sour and they were in the typical dilemma of just pulling espresso blend-medium dark to full second crack , and keeping everything else as brews. Quite an eye opener. I would not buy a Strada, e.g for a shop. The baristas need to be artists to pull consistent great coffee. This is especially true of Kees Van dear Westen machines. There’s nothing worse than sour espresso. Marc’s “baristas” are local Indian village girls that he trained. They can’t dial in. Yet every shot with La Pav was great. Half of so-called profiling is just chasing a lever anyway.
Why didn't you go for the king and get the Rocket R nine? Then you can do real pressure profiling. The rocket seems to get better reviews compared to the GS3.
I have had a thing for the gs3 or the slayer for years, I always wanted one. I love the idea of the custom mods on the gs3 so that won. It’s slayer was just too expensive at this time for me. The R nine I’m sure will make it’s way into the kitchen one day. 👍🏻
Thing that i dont like about this machine is it waste too much water from the pressure profiling system. I wish they divert the other water way back to the boiler instead of throw it away to drip tray.
trade up, it's the only way i did it. each year i pur $2k to a machine budget and would sell my maachine every 2 years and re invest to get my dream machine

Yes I agree, that’s why I wanted to show it. Unfortunately you can’t divert it to the the boiler as it will over fill easily.
For me that is a major drawback of this machine... imagine making gallons of SCA water only to half of it will end up in The drain 🥲
