Only defensive player to win the Heisman, that alone gives him a case. Not saying he is, but it at least makes the suggestion one that is not outlandish. And before anyone says, "But he played WR too, blah blah blah". He did, but not really as much as people make it out to be. Still, his impact there and on special teams bolster his case. In Michigan's biggest games that year he came up huge. On the road at night against #2 Penn State be had a Rec TD, against #4 OSU he had a punt return TD and INT in Michigan's own endzone keeping points off the scoreboard, and against #7 Washington St in the Rose Bowl he again had a INT in their own endzone. He came up huge in the biggest games. Almost forgot to add his god-mode INT in East Lansing against the Spartans.
My favorite player to watch ever. An absolute monster every week. I wish he’d got one with the Raiders, but as a Packer fan I’m so glad he could get one with us.
I’ll always remember the game he had against the Cowboys back in 2009. He had a sack, forced two fumbles (both recovered by the Packers), and an INT at the goal line. He singlehandedly beat the Cowboys that day
As an Eagles fan I’ve seen some great DBs over the years, Eric Allen, Troy Vincent, Brian Dawkins, Malcolm Jenkins and I’ll even throw Darrell Green in there despite him playing in Washington. This video was great as I missed Most of Woodson’s career, but wow what instinct!
Luke Kuechly is up there with CWood in terms of smarts, but otherwise I wholeheartedly agree. For my money, Woodson is the GOAT DB, no doubt in my mind.
I think Ray Lewis and Ed Reed, and Polamalu for that matter, often get put up at the top of smartest defensive players and deservedly so. You don't often here Woodson in the same sentence but he deserves to be.
Top 5 in interception only player with 50+ picks and 20 sacks and tied for most defensive touchdowns, ROTY,DPOY, HIESMAN TROPHY WINNER and to top it off a SuperBowl champ. GOAT
Charles Woodson is the MJ of nfl safties..just never gave up and knew (thought/believed) he was better than all other players on the field. #Confidence
Not a Raiders or Packers fan but Woodson has always been one of my favorite corners to ever play. Early in his career when he had speed he was so dangerous.
Never liked any of the teams he played for from Michigan to Oakland/Green Bay but I’ve always loved the way he played the game, plus he’s from the same area of NW Ohio as I am so I’ve always rooted for him 💪🏼
Woodson and Rodger’s my ALL time favorite players. What they aren’t telling you, is that All these plays are vs HOF players or future HOF players. INSANE!
Thank so you much Charles Woodson for your leadership and inhuman effort! You sir deserve your spot in the HOF. Thanks you so much C.W. #24! I only wish we could have won that darn Gruden Bowl, not to mention the TUCK RULE game . Boy o boy why does the NFL hate the diversity of the Raiders that they Bring to the NFL. The best people, music, food, tailgate, etc
How are you not going to show the diving one handed foot tackle of Ray Rice inside the 5? One of the most insane things you'll ever see from anyone, much less a cornerback.
Easily my fav football player of all time... my fav thing about him was on defense he never really got in stance he would just stand there not really giving the qb or wr a read of wtf he was about to do. I feel like he was a Packer longer than 4 years. That was it? Damn
Just flip the two names and then you’ve got it. Jaire just doesn’t have that Ball Hawk instinct tho. Yeah he can make interceptions, but I feel his primary thought is incompletion first, Int second-which is smart cause you don’t want to be attacking the ball but giving up the completion cause you over extended yourself.
Stupid take. Yeah let's just erase his entire 13 years as a Raider and say that his 4 years on the Packers made him a first ballot HOF. Derp. Do you even know football??
Unfortunately he was a little too honest and outspoken about management for the liking of Green Bay hierarchy so they cut him after 2011. Thought he was washed up. So he goes on to be defensive player of the year.
He's highlighting those 4 years because like he said, he was one of, if not the best defensive player in the league at that time, and if it wasn't for those four years, he may still have been a hall of famer, but certainly not first ballot.
He's one of the best football players ever period.
I think he is the greatest college football player of all time.

RAIDERS/PACKERS well deserved first ballot hall of famer

Him and Prime my 2 favorite DBs ever to lace em up
Dont think there's ever been a smarter defensive player in the NFL. And then to be blessed physically as well? Sheesh. Absolute First ballot Lock.

Ed Reed and Troy Polamalu.

Woodson should have won the superbowl the year he stip sacked brady but the refs bailed the pats out.
He still got one with the packers though. Go Pack Go!
RAAAIDERRRS
weird way to say that the refs enforced a stupid rule correctly

He’s a football player. Plain and simple
I loved to watch him play. Mr Woodson is one of the best DBs ever. I'm glad Green Bay got him a Super Bowl ring.
He loved going against Calvin Johnson
For me, he goes in a Packer. Won his Super Bowl Championship as a Packer. Won his DPOY as a Packer. Played his best football as a Packer.
I love the commentary B! Charles Woodson & Steve Smith the goats
