  • This week at Journal Club, Dr. Asa Gustafsson, Professor at the UC San Diego Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Science and Department of Pharmacology, School of Medicine presents her team's publication "Mitochondria are secreted in extracellular vesicles when lysosomal function is impaired" published in Nature Communications on 04 August, 2023. The study investigated how dysfunctional mitochondria are eliminated through large extracellular vesicles (EVs) via the endosomal pathway when lysosomal degradation is inhibited, especially in the context of cardiac health.
