The maps folder is My Documents\Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data\Maps. Each map (together with all other files that come with the map) needs to be in a folder that has the same name as the map. For example: If the map name is Last Stand_8, the path would be as follows: My Documents\Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data\Maps\Last Stand_8. Ingame, the custom maps will show up under the "Unofficial Maps" tab in the map selection section of the skirmish menu. To access them, you have to switch from "Official Maps" to "Unofficial Maps" by clicking the "Unofficial Maps" tab.

@autochessid849 The official multiplayer servers (GameSpy) were shut down many years ago, but there is a community made and managed server. It's called cnc-online and is your best option for Generals Zero Hour online multiplayer.
