Raven is the reason big E performed poorly. TSM on the whole actually, but specially Evan. Why tf is he on defensive legends when he is one of the best fraggers in the game? Reps should play that role, not Evan. Huge mistake by Raven to flatline Evan like that and it spiraled into shitty comps, bad rotations, and bad plays. TSM is the BEST when they are aggressive. Raven saying Evan can't play aggressive is absolute braindead trash.
Are you deaf? Or are you brain dead? Raven addressed that directly. He DIDN’T MAKE EVAN DO ANYTHING. HE DOESN’T CONTROL THEIR LEGEND CHOICE OR ROLES. Evan naturally plays defensive and was more comfortable there. He ALWAYS HAS. He absolutely CAN roll people, he’s an amazing player, he’s a massive asset to TSM, but go watch him back when he first joined, go watch him before he was with TSM, he is and ALWAYS has been a defensive player. He’s NEVER been the aggressive entry fragger, unless he’s been forced into it. And TSM did so unbelievably better with Raven. Go back and watch them before Raven and after, the difference is clear as day. They might’ve placed better before they had him, but any random diamond player would curb stomp professional teams from back then, the game has reached a different level of competitive now. TSM would not be around without Raven, gun skills don’t cut it anymore.
@@Spectrasweapon1 Right I completely agree with you. I don’t think it a fair portrayal that Raven is giving of Evan’s role on the team especially when he isn’t explaining ways he tried to adjust his role.

If all of TSM literally says they likes Raven and thinks he was a great coach then our opinion should be somewhat the same. They have time with him we don't
Imagine that, metas change and people try new things. Shocking, really. He should really use his crystal ball to see the future and know exactly what every team ever is going to do for all of time.
What does Raven actually do? After being with this team for as long as he has and all I hear is "I don't know" is not what you want to hear if you are looking to hire someone to help your team. I know he knows the game, and he makes sense in a lot of the things he says about it, but this split was doomed months ago and not a whole lot was done to change it. It was like it was tunnel vision from the beginning with how things were going to be. I know they mixed it up a little but settle on a meta that was not the strength of the players, according to Raven himself and forced it. He talks about how we as viewers that watch these guys play all the time don't understand their play style. After placing 17th, I don't think he did either. Yes, the players are to blame I as well get that. But as a coach it's going to fall back on you. I will be honest I am not sure what an "Apex Esport Coach" actually does or if they actually have any say over the team at all? Is it different for each organization? Are they being there to moderate the players egos. Do they Coach? Are they strategist? Are they organizers? I have coached traditional sports for over 20 years, yes, it's different I know. The reason I watch is I play Apex and my son plays at a high level (not a pro).
Are you expecting Raven to be as in-depth on a twitch stream as he is during his “working” hours? Why would he give away his secrets for free? I’m not a rider of any coach, but no esport coach really goes that deep into the game as they do behind the scenes
I would guess that most of his job is analytics, information, and strategy not so much a player or training coach. He'll be the one to watch 12 hours of POVs from nearby teams to learn their rotations and timings that can be explained to the players in an hour. He is the one digging or finding the information about zone exclusion areas, POI loot weights, and heat map the highest winning% starting POIs. Lastly, I'm sure hes always trying to keep up with what the next meta might be, counters, etc...
The role of a coach varies from team to team depending on how involved they want the coach to be, but I can say that even when Raven (or any other coach) misses, the difference in playstyle between teams with them and without them is like night and day - Teams without coaches look like they're playing ranked, with minimal strategy and widely varying results. Coaches generally will plan your macro (Among other things) so that the IGL and other players can focus more on fight-to-fight moments. Things like loot pathing, choosing a POI, rotation choices, awareness of surrounding teams, anticipating enemy rotations, how to properly challenge contests, vod reviewing, team composition, correcting utility usage... all things that can be done by a coach so the players can focus on shooting their gun and winning fights. Actual teamfighting (So aiming, and positioning) is probably not micromanaged in the same way you might micromanage people in traditional sports unless somebody is making a serious mistake - This stuff is more left to the player's discretion. In traditional sports it would be more equivilent to choosing the formation and strategy, writing the playbook before the game starts, making players aware of their role within the team, and making the captain (IGL) aware of what plan he must execute, much less to do with play-by-play coaching and corrections. The key difference probably being that esports coaches cannot communicate with their team during the games.
There's just something about Raven I don't trust. Hard to put my finger on it. Things like 23:16 hyping up how he was laughing so hard at 2R1C's play and he's clearly visible in the background zero reaction, 23:39 feels so much like forced laughter/cope... And in the last video where he's talking about how he left TSM to get a bigger bag, but there's a non zero chance of him going back to TSM, but no he's not going back, can you guess who he's going to chat? No not them. No not them. No not them. Well it will all make sense soon! I dunno, it just seems like he's trying to sell this image of who he thinks he is, or who he wants other people to think he is, rather than being genuine. Maybe I'm crazy.
