Finishing Old Art | Slow Art Making with Surreal Collage Art

- After going through my old collage sketchbooks I realized there were a lot of abandoned artworks that I never finished. I like to keep them in mind as I create if there is something particular I am looking for. Over the past few months I have been taking the time for finishing old art that deserves to be completed!
Let's work both in analog and digitally! If I really can't find something I need and the work is almost done, I turn to my last resort of finishing it off digitally.
This video is perfect for slow art making together. Grab your supplies and let's create! We will also talk about the beauty of remixing as collage artists.

You are so gifted! I love your sense of humor- those men carrying the eggs- I couldn't stop laughing...
Haha; I'm so glad they made you laugh. I definitely enjoy humour in my artworks
It was fun to watch your process Leah. I liked both, but I vote no egg boys. That ladies have it covered 😁
Thanks for watching! I definitely agree that the ladies have it covered :P
Once again, you use so many of the same collage sources I do. The ABCs of nature book, I have two, I use all the time. I love that so much of it is actually drawn images, not photos. They have a different feel to them.
That book is the best! I'm usually not a book person but this one takes the cake. I was just using it again today. If never misses 👍 I agree about them being illustrations, it also makes them all so cohesive.
Your beautiful and so is your art
Hi Leah. I liked the egg guys but it works both ways !!!
I do love the egg guys but also love some lady independence :D Maybe I will keep them separate and make it a series! I could find them some sausages and toast to bring.
All great collages! Definitely, No egg boys! Really love the candy collage and TV collage! Thanks much, Kathleen
Thanks so much! I agree, no egg boys! I think they could have their own spin off piece.
@@flanzellaWhat a great idea! How about a series … egg boys, bacon girls, waffle dogs, coffee cats, etc,? You never know! I really enjoy your videos! Thanks again, Kathleen
I like the sounds of waffle dogs 😋 I'll be on the lookout for breakfast photos!
I vote for no egg boys. The women have all the bacon power! Love all the collages… but digital? Wow!
I couldn't agree more 😸 thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed them. I was hesitant to post the digital ones.
As usual with your collages it’s difficult to pick a favorite. But I really love the Helen Reddy vibe on that last one … woman power!
Thanks as always ❤️
No egg boys!
'Bringing home the Bacon' would be a great title for the last one... Or Going the Eggstra mile!
They are all fun collages but I do like the last one best 🤭😁💖
I am loving these titles, I may have to steal one of the them for it! Or use both and turn them into a series! Thank you!
@@flanzellayou're welcome, sometimes some old sayings come back 'in' and help!! 😁😁❤️
Oh no! Now I’m gonna have to go figure out how to do digital collage!!!! 😂😂 love the video!
You can do it! Although, I do count digital collage as "cheating" 😂 I only like to do it if the collage will never be finished otherwise.
I love to watch how your mind works on the pieces. But are they finished? What do you mount them to and how are they "finished" as an art piece? Do you mount on canvas, wood, cardboard? And how do you preserve?
I have a vlog where I prep for art shows explaining this a little. For the collages I don't "finish them" until I know they will be hung to preserve space since there are so many. I use a work fixative to protect them, and then some go on wood board, some are framed, and some I have put between two pieces of glass.
Hi Leah. Really enjoyed watching you finish old art. What is your favorite substrate? I find this to be an ongoing challenge. Thank you!!!! Susan
Hi Susan, can you elaborate on what you mean by substrate? Do you mean my cutting board? Or undertone of messaging?
Wow that was a lot of great collages and super loved the women in the jello. Also you really know how to use those scissors when cutting you even got the little parts of that butterfly I’m still working on doing good with the small parts
Thanks so much 😊 Practice does make perfect in this case! Try taking a day to cut out some difficult pieces and watch, you'll be a pro in no time!
I'd put egg boys in there for a group breakfast.
"Tweet" for the woman with the flute and the birds?
I love that idea!
When you can’t find an egg in magazines, take a picture of an egg yourself.
That's the spirit!
I love your style and seeing your process, thank you for sharing! Your works are lovely and thought provoking. Can I suggest "Bird Song" as a title? Have an inspirational day!
Great suggestion! Thank you for watching ❤️
How to make the intro motion and design?
Hi! I often use after effects for projects like this.
