Cast Iron Wednesday 04-17-2024: Cornbread Night!

We’re only a little more than one week away from the National Cornbread Festival, which takes place each April in the home town of Lodge Cast Iron! Aod so, to get excited for the festival, we’ll be making cornbread tonight on UA-cam Live, using several cast iron pans made especially for…cornbread, of course. We’ll be pitting Northern cornbread (with sugar) against Southern cornbread (no sugar!), and even making some blue cornbread! Cornbread and cast iron have had a special relationship, so much so that several cast iron pans were designed over the years especially for making cornbread. This gives us a reason to talk about the history of these cornbread pans, including why we can find a cornbread pan at just about any antique store across the entire country. And, as always, we’re encouraging everyone in our UA-cam Live discussion to take part. Tell us about your favorite cornbread, your own corn bread pans, and how you like to make and eat cornbread. We like left-over cornbread for breakfast, with butter and maple syrup.

In Texas , many times we add a small can of green mixed chiles. The result is so very good!
