- When hyenas hunt an animal that is bigger than themselves, they may hunt in packs and take down the prey by biting and dragging it to the ground. If they are after smaller prey, they will hunt alone in a fox-like matter.

There is a magic button on camera. It's called zoom in.
😂😂😂 indeed
I must admit it takes a real sick mind to want to get close up shots of an animal clearly suffering
@House Guest not really.
If you're going go record, then you should do it right. Get all the action and best shots.
@@houseguest4534Thats why we are all here, We want to hear the Crunch as well 👏🏼
What a terrible way to go, one hyena eating you alive. At least if there was a whole pack it would be a lot quicker.
Lions also eat prey alive.
@PEDRO JOSÉ GOMES MUCH less often though.
@@201085PEDRO rarely they always strangle first before diving in
@@BoskiM UA-cam is full of home videos of lions eating their prey alive. Too bad they will never be linked in documentaries, which built the false image of felines as "noble killers".
@@201085PEDRO A wild life University lecturer as entered the chat. I never saw any lions in this video.
Can’t take a nap while hyenas are around …
The Hyena's very own Thanksgiving meal.
You keep saying Hyenas hunt by chasing prey to exhaustion but you have never shown the chase? 🤔
@@TheBloodWyrmCaraxes you ever heard of editing? They never showed even 1min of a hyena chasing anything
Leave hyenas alone
They showed one video of a hyena clan chasing down and hunting a zebra a time ago
“Spotted hyenas are endurance hunters, that is, they don’t stalk their prey like lions or leopards, but hunt it to exhaustion. They are extremely well adapted to this strategy and their hunting success is high when they manage to pursue their prey over a long distance. They have exceptional stamina and their heart is very large for their body size. Furthermore, their muzzle is long and filled with a network of small blood vessels that are exposed to the air the hyenas breathe, which cools down their body temperature in a highly efficient way. This allows hyenas to immediately start feeding on their prey after an enduring and intensive hunt - a big advantage in a world full of hungry competitors such as other hyenas and lions. And they are always hungry: they can devour up to 15 kg of meat and bones in one single meal, which corresponds to about 25% of their body mass.” (Ngorongoro Crater Hyena Project)
How did that Topi let the hyena get so close to it? They're usually fast runners. Must have caught it by surprise.
IThe topi was sleeping on the ground, the hyena sneaked catching it by surprise.
It says at 1:05 that hyenas chase their prey until exhaustion. Hyenas can run a long time without getting tired.
It’s called stamina and endurance, it’s not that hard to figure out
It's left front leg is broken. You can see it swinging at 51 seconds.
I thought I saw that too.
With only very rare exceptions, this is how it ends for most prey animals.
sucks to be prey animal.
*if they are hunted by wild dogs or hyenas. Other predators aren't that successful.
@@BigBrotherTheWatcher1984 cheetahs are most successful than hyenas.

@@BigBrotherTheWatcher1984 What is their preferred pronoun?🤔
At what point does shock take over these prey animals? Do they ever faint in these situations?
For shock to set in you must do a lot of damage fast. It happens more quickly if the prey is outmatched enough. A clan of hyenas would kill the topi perhaps faster than a couple of lions due to the sheer amount of trauma but now it's just a single hyena.
The worst videos are when the prey animals get into shock and manage to wake up again because they still aren't dead yet. Really bums me out.
@@An_Actual_Rat Yikes to the last part. Thanks for the details
Don't you have a much far far away angle than this?
Seriously zoom. Heard of it??
It must have been very delicious - hyena couldn't wait to start eating.
Like buffalo sauce on delicious wings.
That's how hyenas hunt. They start eating before it dies... That's their method.

FRESH MEAT
Crazy a lone hyena can do this. That would be hard for a leopard or cheetah to do on its own
A leopard could do it much more efficiently than this. A cheetah would not...
A leopard 🐆 would kill it first then take it up in a tree & eat it at its leisure, away from other predators.
A leopard wouldn't even hunt in such an open grassland when there are seemingly no trees around.
Fucking hyenas are powerhouses. Those things are tireless.
The topi became the top of the morning meal.
What a ridiculous comment to make about another animals pain and suffering!!!!

Hynas & Dogs are so cruel animals
They're not. If you're talking about how they eat prey alive then almost all predators do that.
That`s nonsense! You shouldn`t humanize them, let them be animals on their own terms.
If you are talking about cruel no animal comes even 0000.1 closer as humans in this world. Humans talking about cruelity is like hunter talking about peace.
Hyenas and wild dogs have to eat fast so other predators dont steal their kill
What dogs? Domestic dogs hunt like wolves and go for the neck.
These Weakest animals, who don't know how to hunt, the coward hyenas easiely hunt this beautiful topi because it is already tired and exhausted!!! But in other videos even they are numerous but they always missed to hit even a small kudu!!!

“Spotted hyenas are skilled and powerful hunters that can kill a wide variety of prey. In the Ngorongoro Crater, their preferred prey are wildebeests and buffalo calves, medium-sized herbivores weighing between 50 and 180 kg. @@karotsweetheartI get my information from both the MSU Hyena Project and the Ngorongoro Crater Hyena Project, which means my information is correct.
Hyenas are the most coward and weakest animals in the animal kingdom.. Because they are the most abundant land Predators in the African wildlife..But they are always left behind...Why? Wild dogs who are vulnerable and endangered species but remained the top as the most successful hunters Followed by black footed cats and then the fastest, sweet cheetahs and Followed by Graceful leopards!! Hyenas clan is naturally larger than lion pride..It consists mainly of 60-80 members and even 100.members...But it is the magnificent lions who are the top Predators, top on the food chain and Africa's most powerful Predators.at all..And lions according to National Geographic, are the number one safari animals even they are not the most abundant...So where are your beloved hyenas now?
