I love the one clip that shows what it's REALLY like to get those shots 😂 if you want an epic shot walking down a beautiful landscape, you also have to climb back up to retrieve the camera 😂
I would love to join you, but my instincts tell me I have a lot more walking and weight loss to do to have the stamina. Watch this space perhaps. Put me on the 5 year plan. What a fantastic idea to follow your hiking dreams. Wishing you the best of success and for the current pandemic to go away!
Whole gear probably not, but it is very good inspiration what gear is good for which purpose and why. What parameters to look for, what are common problems while filming of photoshooting. Than you can better choose the gear even in your price range and not for such professional project
BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO FOR AWHILE. We're about to leave to backpack around the world in January so we'll have to revisit this video in a few months.
Camera cleaning kit, loving that!! Love the 6:05 scene heading back to grab the camera, I have done this countless of times on my PCT videos as well and only a few people will notice the amount of extra leg work going into that hehe :)
Tic Tac, next time use shower cap from hotels for the camera. Super Ultralight Tips from Dani. Is the stabilization on the ASIII that bad, compared to Osmo?
I literally looked back at your pct video to remind myself which mini camera you had bc I’m hoping to purchase a travel camera this week. Perfect timing thank you!!
That’s a whole bunch of stuff. Your dedication to craft never ceases to amaze me. You have turned into a fabulous documentary filmmaker. You are wonderful !!🦋
I agree 👍🏾 That's exactly what I was thinking through the last few videos I have watched from Elina. This one is so clear, concise, and enjoyable to watch and listen to.
I enjoyed taking your course on Bright Trip. I especially liked the part about giving emotions to the viewer through the video. I was also intrigued by the section about involving your peers in the documentary. These are the things that make your videos so wonderful. It would be great if you made a course on evoking emotions through video and another about engaging with people on the trail.
I remember the first time I saw your videos! It was Nov 2019. It inspired me to join the PCT groups and look forward to hiking the PCT one day. Little did we know what would happen just a few months into 2020. What a nightmare life has been since then. But I'm glad you are still making videos.
This was great and a reminder of how much work goes into your films. Smart to just take one lens to limit your choices. I filmed with a GoPro and iphone and it's good, but not anywhere near your quality. It's always a bit disappointing when I get back home. Looking forward to your next adventure.
@@treklinda1309 Pocket 2 with the Creator Combo is great… just don’t use HQ mode and Face/Active tracking together… at least not until DJI fixes it ;-)
@@ElinaOsborne The DJI Ronin is amazing…. but a monster to go backpacking. I am impressed that you take your Sony A7sIII. I normally have my Sony on the to go pile until I weigh my pack…. Then it gets replaced by a DJI Pocket and maybe a GoPro our Insta360 One R…. But I love your footage that you have capture with your Sonys on both, the PCT and also what I saw on your latest trip. Looking forward to more of your content. Cheers.
Great vid, been curious to see what you ended up using! Me, I'm a bit too obsessed with ultralight--I count grams haha--so I can't justify anything much heavier than my Sony A6400 with 24mm 1.8 lens. I do have a Sony A7C that I use with the 35mm f2.8 (very similar to your PCT setup), but I think I'm gonna actually go with the APSC camera since I'm happy with the video I get out of it...I'm going to be hiking the PCT SOBO (well part of it anyway) in a week, I've enjoyed your vids and can't wait to get out there and see it for myself! 😁Btw the Ultrapod is a great tripod! I use the Ultrapod II on all my hikes now.
Great video and details! I've given up some quality, but found the Insta360 cameras to be a weight/space saver while allowing me to not worry about framing videos either, but for a serious film maker such as yourself - that most likely would not work. But I'm def not as good a story teller as you are either. Keep up the great video work ... big fan here in Atlanta!
Your videography, editing and delightful presentation style are superb, the quality is excellent. Your videos always make a very enjoyable viewing experience for me. 😊 🌿❤️
Great vid Elina! I've just come back from filming an expedition through Fiordland (and then the rest of the S.Island) which had it's challenges to film as you can imagine. My biggest take away was that I can totally reflect on how accessible the camera needs to be! Mine was attached to my chest but in a bag (due to weather and bush bashing), but even then it took a few moments to get it out. I was wondering, did you leave the ziplock bag on in rain and still manage to use the PD clip?...either by screwing the clip on over the outside of the ziplock, or underneath and just sliding it into the mount 'though' the bag? Thanks for the time!
Really cool adventures, actually i'm going next week for a trip to American River, Sacramento, CA. I will share my video soon with you guys, same gear .. cheers!
As for keeping your camera dry on the peak design clip: try those shower caps you get in some hotels for free (or many for very little money on the internet). The have an elastic band that keeps them snug around the camera right at the clip. You may want to bring one extra though, as they are not the most durable. But they also don't weigh anything. Works for me.
Walked TA this year too. Filmed with my trusty GoPro 8, was exactly what I needed. Also took a drone to be used on special occasions, also as my power bank. I’d hate to know how much extra I did compared to my GF going back for the camera. Was stoked to chat when we crossed paths near Anne Hut, can’t wait to see your trip video.
I know all about the going back to collect the camera! Love your content, I just shot my last video for 3 months due to finishing it in a rescue helicopter
She has not uploaded it yet, but will do so in the future (hopefully soon! :D). I think she explained it in her last video, so maybe go and watch that!
Do you think a a7riii would of gotten the same job done ? (That’s what I have ) cheers ! You are by far the most entertaining hiking related UA-camr period.
You would probably get better photos on the A7riii, but video-wise the A7siii is the superior camera, but who much you will need those additional features is another question. Best of luck

P.S wanna come camping with me in Alaska?? (1 early bird spot left!)

Awesome 🙌🏼
So excited to see more films from your TA trip! Especially to hear from the hiking family you met on trail!
Who else is watching knowing very well they won't be able to afford this gear anytime soon :')
just move into your car, and give up food and you can afford it after saving a couple of months. ;-)
Whole gear probably not, but it is very good inspiration what gear is good for which purpose and why. What parameters to look for, what are common problems while filming of photoshooting. Than you can better choose the gear even in your price range and not for such professional project
The mark1 is very affordable.
AHH yes my ideal UA-cam video. Camera gear + hiking
So hyped for TA Episode 1 😩
That sun on your shoulders looks so sore. Maybe follow up with a dermatologist to be safe?
Probably a wise call. NZ sun is so harsh, pls don't make the same mistake!
That reminded me of the sunburns I'd get growing up in Connecticut back in the day. Thankfully, we've learned since then.

All the very best for your adventures!
Have a wonderful time. ❤️ 👐🏿 😊
I have the same a7siii, lens, and mic setup and I have to agree that the mic is too delicate and not a huge improvement for the price

Brilliant filming as usual Elina what an awesome filming set up you’ve got going.

Cannot waaait for the next TA video!
You've totally inspired me to film my thru-hike in October (even if mums the only one who watches it)
Please Elina ! When are you going to release Te Araroa film ?
Awesome video!
I love your videos!! Where do you get your music for them?
The going back to collect the camera feel is real! Great vid (of course)
very helpfull vid many thanks
The quality of the filming and editing of your videos are incredible!
$3000 camera helps. $1000 2016 DSLR looks OK even compared to many gopros/cellphones
That was an amazing movie fat about you

I was wondering how long it would take you to get rid of the gimbal. The Osmo Pocket is a nice little compromise... Cheers from LA.
Oh I love my Osmos.. have got both :)
WHO LET ME TALK MYSELF INTO TAKING IT 😂

Where's the film though?
Thanks for this video. You have a great eye for videography. Always watch your presentations.

Great explanations. A two person team would greatly reduce annoying walkbacks

Any chance you know when Macpac will be releasing the backpack you took?

every video of yours is awesome ...thanks for making them
Hey stranger 👋🏼 I’m looking forward to this video. 🌿
You’re awesome. Can’t wait to see your adventure! 🏔🙌🏻
Thanks for sharing your great adventures!!
Great stuff! Looking forward to the videos from this trip. :)
All I heard was, "...buttery smooth..."
Sony guy here too and I LOVE my GM 24mm.
That was nice. Good to see you. Thank you.
Gonna have to pick up that rain cover ✌️.
Great presentation of the equipment you use, just wondering where can I see this 3000km footage through New Zealand? any links available. Thx
She has not uploaded it yet, but will do so in the future (hopefully soon! :D). I think she explained it in her last video, so maybe go and watch that!
Love that the content is back

Different lense? Or did u get a bit chubby :P
Love u anyway. U have no idea how much ur PCT videoseries hooked me...
The Sunway clamp works with the Capture Clip? Awesome! That’s exactly what I’m looking for because I also use the Ultrapod!
Great video Elina! How great was the Sony A7SIII?
