This was an excellent overview when just getting started in investigating the hike. Also, I'd never considered making popcorn, great idea.

I am loving your content and appreciate the extra effort you go to to share your hikes and experiences - all the camera work and editing👌 I have been inspired to get myself some hiking boots, a day pack and have implemented a plan to get fit enough to start spending time in nature. I wish you all the best in your planning and walking the Te Araroa trail. I will be watching your progress🙌

Thanks so much for your kind words Janna, I really do appreciate them 💚 My best tip on getting fit and time in nature, don’t overthink it, open your front door, step outside and walk around the block. Works for me especially when I “think” I’m too busy 😅. Hope to see you on the trails one day 🫶

I’m about to book my first great walk for early next year. Honestly, you’ve helped inspire me to come and visit New Zealand. I used far out for section hiking a portion of the Appalachian trail earlier this year, it really was invaluable and worth every penny. It was very accurate on the critical water sources and places to camp.

Oh wow that is so exciting Steve, I’m thrilled for you! Let me know how you get on with the Bookings as many of the Great Walks sell out immediately, if so, keep trying as people cancel. I’ll probably be in the neighbourhood and happy to catch up if it works. DM me over on Insta if you’ve any questions.
Yes, the FarOut App is very detailed though you’ll not find lack of water sources the issue here 🌦️☔️😆

Just booked two nights on the Routeburn. I’m over the moon at this one. I was online and booking as soon as reservations opened. Would love to check in with you if we are in the same area.

That’s fantastic Steve, I love the Routeburn, it’s an outstanding experience. Be sure to watch out for the cheeky Kea 🦜, they’ll pinch anything not tied down 😅. Let me know your dates and I’ll see where I’ll likely be 👌

4 seasons in one day.. I had to laugh at that because it is so true. Nz weather is so unpredictable at times. But yes... all that information will be very helpful if one day I decide to follow in your footsteps .. Wishing you all the best on your journey. Take good care of you on this adventure of a lifetime... 🤗💚🌴🌳🌻🌳🌴💚

Very nice tent I owned the same Best to wrap some duct tape at the hollow end's off your tent poles They tend too shift about in high winds prone to cracking

Thanks for sharing your experience Peter, I had the exact same issue with a Kathmandu tent on a night with no wind. Needless to say, those poles have been duct taped ever since to hold them together 🤔🏕️
