Early Diesels in Scotland - 1960s

Although Scotland's railways became some of the first lines to oust steam locomotives from their trains, the changeover process was slow. Lots of new diesel designs in the late 1950s and early 1960s were tried out in Scotland so the variety of different types was extensive.
Some were more successful than others. Some went on for decades but others, like the North British locos and the diesel railbuses, had only short working lives.

Not many pointed their cameras at the NB class 21s or the class 06 shunters back in the early 60s. Great stuff, what is lacking in quality (and sound) is made up for by atmosphere and sheer rarity!

Any of the Class 24/25 hybrids which had big lamps on front for Far North work to Thurso and Wick?

Highland Class 24s, D5114-32. Inverness from new until reallocated to Haymarket in 1974 and withdrawal by 1976.

Hybrids? What was 'hybrid' about them? The headlamps were fitted much later, not in this era of footage.
