Wow this is a blast from the past! I was in this series as Neil Tennant from Pet Shop Boys and Bobby Darin won the episode I was on, I was sat in the Audience watching this final, we had a big party afterwards at the Priory opposite the TV Studios!
@@SpeckyBecky27 if my memory is correct we did it over 2 days. Day one was staging and rehearsals. Day 2 was studio audience and filming and we each did 2 performances so they could use best of two!
@azraelabandon1771 just seeing this now - thank you for the reply 😊 that's really interesting. When I was a kid I had it in my head it would be done over months 😄 It must have been so much fun to do!
My mum loved this show i liked it also i think i was aged 9/10 when this episode came out randy Crawford was one if my faves but she sang that whole song with her eyes closed
I could we wrong but it seems to me that this show only allowed genuine/reasonably talented individuals, unlike The X-Factor and Britain's Got Talent, which seem to exploit the deluded, vulnerable and mentally ill for laughs, ridicules and ratings.
It is. Or maybe Stepdad. But he raised Luke from what I understand. Just discovered this myself. No wonder he's got vocal chops. He was obviously too young at this point. Not even sure if he was born at this point.
@@chicalibre8684 sorry for my confusion, It's just I saw someone else's comment on another post saying it was his stepdad and as I don't know the situation very well I figured they must have been right. Should have just stuck to "Yes this is dad" . Again sorry for my confusion.
Honestly never realized how amazing life was back then I miss it terribly

That's class! So was it all filmed over the course of a few days?

@@krystalgorman86 aw. I’ll let her know. X☺️
@@biancahaughton6203 thank you 😊
A lot better than the Stars in their Eyes with Harry Hill which was broadcasted in 2015
Been waiting ages for this final.... and worth the wait :D Feel for Bono, he knew he messed up a bit early on.

BGT does have some good acts TBF, and is by far a better format than X Factor. But Stars was definitely, largely real performers.
What's happened to those happier days you hardly see anyone smiling and laughing nowadays...
Liked how they were able to fit the National Lottery results in there as well!
its very 90s
ITV do it every Saturday night show now.
Jesus, Mariah was great!
This is definitely when Saturday night television was well worth properly watching it is just a real shame that it is a whole different era nowadays
Is this Luke Newton's dad?

He was born in 1993.. his mum remarried in 2006 so that's really his dad, not his stepdad.. I'm lost😂@@Loulizabeth
