This a LONG shot, but has anybody here heard of Jesulink? hes a spanish artist who back in the day made a parody comic of naruto and then an original story.
Everytime i read Kagurabachi im always thinking the style reminds me of someone but could never put my finger on who, now seeing hokazono's early work i can definetly say its so similar to jesulink, im not saying theres any deeper connection but its funny seeing how 2 people on complete opposite sides of the world ended up having similar styles just by being inspired by kishimoto

I've never heard of them but it sounds like a fun coincidence! I'll pin your comment in the hopes someone else ever sees it!

Hokazono took the Best out of Naruto, Tarantino, John Wick, Vagabond, and Batman into making Kagurabachi!

@@personperson573this is not hype. These were hokazono’s stated inspirations. And if you read the manga and look at the style of how of how the paneling is drawn. it checks out.

Farewell! Cherry Boy is my favorite oneshot by Hokazono by far, when I read it the first time the twist surprised me so much I had to set it down for a second to take it in.

Sometimes I really think I've underestimated the impact that John Wick has had on newer talents that have entered Jump in the last four years or so haha. Nice video! Looks like I have some one shots to check out

Ikr!! I'll have to give at least 1 John Wick film a shot, I owe it that much. Hooe you enjoy Hokazonos oneshots!

Also as an aside, as an artist and writer myself I can definitely say it's quite understandable to not have all elements of a larger story contained in a series of other works. These stories steep with us over long, long periods of time and may not necessarily extend itself to the scope of a test project we make at the time.
With that said, this video has definitely given me more courage to go through with making some oneshots.
    Cheers

Hokazono really took the time to grow. But recently I actually got in touch with the translator who was responsible with Roku’s Pact. And it was an interesting experience for him back then.

@ it was for them tough as he said that he thought it was lame, but looks at it now years later and looks at it more fondly. They still do the scanlations of the one-shots with his recent translation for Interdimensional Cyborg Prototype Zero.
Edit: clarification he thought his translation was lame not the one-shot, I misread it. But he really did enjoy the one-shot, I swear. I can be an idiot sometimes when I don’t read the text carefully. But anyway their translations are good and they try their hardest. And they also translated the MamaYuyu authors one-shot more recently as well, but it is in Spanish.

I wouldn't be surprised if Hokazono said that he created Enten while taking some inspiration from Naruto since Naruto is one of the most well known Manga in Weekly Shonen Jump.

seeing this video be a dive into hokazonos growth as an artist and storyteller, i feel it fits to say that the growth in your videos has also been huge and really fun to see. it's esp the case for this recent one. i'm glad to have followed your videos for as long as i have and it's something i look forward to quite a bit !! your growth in presenting information and narration (is that the right word ? 😅😅) is smth i can't help but notice every time you upload something new. very very great video !!!

Though the story that he made for Chain may have been as you described it "bit more basic" compared to his other works, i think it served well to test that ARC where we see the first Main Villain of Kagurabahici go up against the prevailing group.
I don't recall the names off the top of my head since its been a good while ago when I read through those chapters.

I actually read the Roku no Meiyaku one shot when it first came out and it is cool to see where hokazono is now.
Roku no Meiyaku and Shikigami (By Kento amemiya) were my two favourite one shots of 2022 and I really wanted to see both mangaka serialized. In the end, one came back with a huge flop and the other with a huge success lol
Also , I actually guessed that roku no meiyaku would be serialized , one week before kagurabachi started.

Maybe it’s just not for you, and that’s okay, I love it because it reminds me kinda to John wick, and I really like the art, they way hokazono frames action it’s really entertaining to read

    • @TrentinArt
      @TrentinArt  2 дні тому +8

Well this videos more about Hokazonos oneshots and his work overall but Kagurabachi for me is just really well made.
It's got the surface level cool factor, some edge and a ton of action but it's pretty adept at playing around with various themes. It actually does justice to the idea of a revenge story, exploring what that means and the toll it takes on Chihiro and those around him.
The side cast is pretty strong too, especially it's antagonists and it's just a bunch of fun to read week by week! There's a ton of reasons why I like it tbh

@@AlexisMartinez-bb4deIt doesn't even really remind me of John wick it's just dynamic action SJ already has a lot of that 😂😂 also KB just hasn't had "that arc" yet tbh it's pretty boringly paced
