    Thank you all for tuning in to this two part series! I know that cliff hanger in part 1 got some of y’all ready to square up but I hope the end result was worth the wait.
    Also I just have to say, throughout the process of making this video I spent hours and hours watching old film, looking up obscure stats and facts that only us basketball fans would appreciate, and watched clips of legendary moments and after awhile I caught myself getting lost in these old videos, in amazement at how incredible these players are and how awesome this sport is. Because of y’all I get to watch, dissect and analyze basketball for a living and I CANNOT thank y’all enough. This is truly the best job in the world and I’m going to continue to create this stories and videos for us to watch, share and enjoy. I Appreciate all of you 💯

And yes, even when they lose a series I don't really feel that those teams can beat the Spurs. However, the Lakers were different, and it's all because of that man. Kobe, similar to Duncan, I believe will always show up night in and night out.

      The ‘70s was a weak era so Kareem didn’t have much competition during that time, which helped him get his MVPs. Yes he was a great player during his prime. But if he started in the ‘80s or ‘90s, Kareem would be Tier 3 or 4. He often had great teammates, Oscar Robertson in Bucks, and of course Magic & Worthy in Lakers. Kareem didn’t have killer instinct & clutch gene like MJ, Bird, & Kobe. He just played forever & got his points, like LeBron will. Some people say he is GOAT lol but if you look at every factor logically he is really a Tier 3.

    As soon as Bird got to the Celtics, they went from doormat to NBA Finals or Conference Finals 8 out of the next 9 seasons (winning 3 rings). That stopped the year Bird got hurt and Boston was never the same after his injury. I don't think some people understand just how impactful he was and the kind of overall player he was. Even when he was old and injured he was still dragging them to the playoffs every year.

      Not to mention, Larry and Magic was a huge and close rivalry through the years, but Magic is a tier above him here. I mean, I guess you could say Magic had the edge, but Larry came from a nobody college and dominated. Now, as for who to replace, it’s hard to tell. But yeah, Larry Bird completely revolutionized basketball with his all around game and he deserves more credit.

    • @jubjubhenry5612
      @jubjubhenry5612 2 роки тому +3

      Yeah Larry in his 3rd tier is just ridic. Literally the best all around player the league has ever seen and putting Magic above him is kinda strange as Larry was clearly the better baller with a distinctly inferior supporting cast plus Len Bias RIP.

    • @zeriel9148
      @zeriel9148 2 роки тому +6

      The fact that Jordan's message to Bird when he retired was "thank god" says it all, I always find it funny when fans think players are worse than the people who actually played against them, which is a major issue new fans seem to have. Trash talking 80s players while lionizing other players who outright say they were as good as them or better.

      For those saying Bill and Wilt. Bill averaged 15 ppg and was just a defensive player who played in a era where the average height was 6'5 and often times his teammates won MVP or finals MVP. And Wilt was a regular season wonder, he went from averaging 30 ppg in the regular season against bad and mediocre teams to 22ppg in the playoffs Also having teammates who won MVP and Finals MVP ahead of him. He even averaged 14ppg in his 2nd finals win. Jordan, Kobe and Kareem are the only players in history to play ELITE offense, ELITE defense and win a ton of titles. What sets Jordan apart is that he led his team to all of his titles averaging almost double the points of the second best player on his team ( Pippen 16 ppg) . Shaq won regular season MVP and 3 finals MVPs with Kobe, and Magic won regular season mvp and 3 finals MVP with Kareem. Not to mention on the video where they ask 23 legends who was the GOAT Jordan won the vote. These 3 players should be the only ones mentioned with GOAT title. Lebron might be one of the greatest offensive players ever but he played defense about 1/3 of his career, and what makes it worse is that we know he is capable and just chose not to. Also the Mavericks finals lol. Jordan was the best off/def player of his era and won the most as the #1 on his team. Case closed no one else in history can say that . 10 scoring titles (most ever) 9x 1st team defense ( tied most ever).

    Magic and Bird should be on the same tier, they are way too close to each other to separate them, and I'd say Magic should be Tier 3 with Bird. also I would move Wilt to Tier 2 in Magic's place, because even though he won only 2 titles, he still was so much more better than anyone during his time, that it's almost unreal. And he is probably the only superstar of the 60s that you can be sure would have dominated the game even today if he was born nowadays. He is the most athletically gifted player of all time and his records are way to incredible to have him so low just because of his era.

      AnkleTaker 2 There are non perfect players, but a handful are so well rounded that they don’t have a weakness. Your Jordans, Kobes, KDs and Larry Birds. They can hit and create shots at will from anywhere, playmake, be a positive impact on D, drain free throws, drive, pull up, don’t allow the defender to sag off from 3, deliver in the clutch, play in an equal opportunity system and off the ball. Most likely missing a couple players but the list is much shorter than many fans would believe, these players truly had no weakness in their game.

      If you look at every player in NBA history who scored 30,000 points you'll see that:
      1. Kareem - Laker
      2. Malone - Laker at very end of his career
      3. Lebron - Laker
      4. Kobe - Laker
      5. Jordan - Never a laker
      6. Wilt - Laker
      7. Dirk - never a laker

    Im biased being a Laker fan. But Kobe's Tier 1. No matter what, Kobe has Jordans records, he won with A LOT worse teams in one of the most difficult eras in basketball. Not to mention averaging 35... 35!!! In one of the most difficult scoring eras ever. Its only been topped once in the NEXT era and nothing has come close since Wilt Chamberlain (and Rick Barry). Kobe's Kobe. Nobody shouts Jordan when they shoot a shot they know they won't make but somehow do. They shout Kobe. 💪🏾 Oh and he beat the Superteam Celtics for their back to back championship with players that weren't even close to being considered the top 50 best players IN THE NBA AT THE TIME. Give that man his respect. Nobody gives you the electrifying fire feeling that whenever you watch his game they're going to win every time, but Kobe. His greatness is obviously burned in to NBA history but what he did for the game off basketball OFF the court is second to none. RIP the true goat. It still hurts my heart today. Thank you Kobe. Also I hope you read this Jimmy 🙏🏾 Even though its been 2 years.

    I wish MJ didn’t go to baseball. I wish he played earlier. If he had more seasons I have no doubt he would have surpassed all the stats such as scoring. Then there would be no argument

      Who knows how much college taught him though. I think it's fine how he was, the best to ever do it. Lebron has to do some crazy shit for the next couple of seasons to even tie him (imo).

      You could make an "if only" for more than half the players in this pyramid. If not for a few bouts of luck or chance, many of them could have been goat

      Adeesh I'm a LeBron guy, but the difference here is that MJ leaving wasn't luck. He just left. He didn't have to, he just did it. I love toying the MJ-LBJ line, but I have to admit that if Jordan stayed there wouldn't be the debate there currently is.

      Straight up^ this was made before he won but if it had been after I think it woulda been different. If you look at his accomplishments (2 titles, finals MVP for both, 5 time all star, 2 time DPOY etc) plus his ability to lead a team/determination to win he'd have to sneak into tier 5

    Great pyramid. What I can add is when rating all these player for greatness, one factor I use for myself to separate them is- Did this player transcend the sport? I can talk about 90's onward only as you had to be alive and see for yourself to asses overall greatness compared between different times. As someone that lived in post communist Eastern Europe, you could go to a village where there was one TV in the mayors house in the early 90's and old people that didn't know what NBA is or what even basketball is, but they would have heard about Jordan. That's how big of a name he was at that time. No other basketball player ever had that recognition on a level outside the sport. I would put him on the level of worldwide recognition with Maradona, Pele or Ronaldo in the 90's. So I agree with him on top.
    Next was Shaq, when it was talked about basketball after Jordan he was the big worldwide name people will recognize or kids playing that didn't saw Jordan will want to be when playing. After Shaq came Kobe and I would agree with this pyramid again, Kobe was bigger name than Shaq, whole generation that grew up used and sill use the phrase "Kobe" for doing something accurate. This transcends the sport. Next after Kobe should be LeBron, but I personally don't see him on the same level of fame/recognition outside basketball.
    Of course that doesn't mean that much if the goal is to find the best basketball player, people that are knowledgeable about NBA should not discount stats, championships, skill etc. For people that watch the sport even casually I find this pyramid spot on.
