I'm hopefully picking up a 2016 model in rally colours. Only has 640kms on the clock so its virtually brand new. Good to know its great for the long term
Didnt come across any ignition problems. Actually there was once or twice where i turned the key but the ignition didnt turn on. But turning it off and on again solved it. No big major issues there
Hi, Thank you for your video. Questions: 1. Do you still own your 2016 Africa Twin? 2. You mentioned that the controls stick because of rain. What did you do to fix the problem with these controls?
@@John-zb2kw hey buddy. Still own the bike @ 208000kms now. Did not do anything to fix. I find that they only 'stick' after some wet weather riding. But all you have to do is to like press it again when it sticks and all is well. Bike just did another 1800km ride. No issues.
Good video, I've been wondering what the long term reliability was like and if anyone was having issues with a common thing. I'm seriously considering buying a 2016 AT myself with 15,000 KM on it. It's in great shape. I rode a friends AT a few years ago and loved it. I currently have a DR650 and my old Harley Heritage Softail. I'd like to reduce what I have to maintain and find a bike that will be capable of easily running longer trips on pavement occasionally with a passenger and be equally at home doing 52KM of gravel road every day going to work. My DR650 is good for the gravel but falls short on the pavement and in my opinion isn't suited to having a passenger. My old Heritage is nice on the highway and can carry a passenger but it is NOT good on gravel roads. I'm hoping an AT will bridge those two worlds well. I subscribed too😁🍻
Thank you for the sub! Till date the AT has been superb in terms of reliability so far. Mostly pavements and then the occasional camping trips off road some bad falls but keeping it in good condition honestly wasn't too expensive at all. At about 140k mileage she feels like she's ready for another 140k! Pretty sure you will love this bike!
Giday Mate I had the same bikes as You have,I have a 2007 model Harley Davidson Heritage and have had 3 Suzuki dr 650s I am hoping to find the right bike to do All that I want, so I am now thinking about purchasing a Honda Africa Twin, have You already purchased a Honda Africa Twin if Yes are You happy with it All the Best stay safe and safe travels regards Brian
nope. never had any breakdowns with the bike (except for once when wheel bearings broke) only problem i had was the need to replace the grounding wires due to corrosion. (dtc error 6-2) even with that i could still ride the bike with no issues. guess the most important thing is to not skip your routine maintenance.
Hi bro just to check the cost 1.8k service valve clearance and what else should we do? don't mind to share more new, rider here loving it on how smooth it is. What else is there to take note on servicing the bike which garage did you go to and also more on just daily commute to work. Thanks in advance.
This is awesome. I have a chance to buy well maintenaied AT with 50000km and I was concerned about it. After this wideo I se that those kilometres are silly for this holly bike!
I have 100000km on mine, zero mechanical issues. I change the oil around every 5000km and oil filter at 10000km and clean airfilter around 10-15000km Theres a bike in germany with 300000km. Its a low compression engine so its built for longevity. Id happily buy a well maintained AT with over 100 000km.

Would you recommend getting a Lithium Battery Charger (2018 model) to carry on long trips; especially to remote areas?

The best is of course to download the manual and follow the servicing instructions! Thats what i used as a guideline!
Just to ask what riding glove is that looks sleek and not bulky 😅
Are your handlebars high enough to lanesplit without worries during peak hours?
yes my friend. they are high enough. until u meet two hiaces side by side close to each other 😂
