I love how honest you are, you mentioned your parents, your friend and everyone implied in this. You're speaking to us like we are your all time friend and that's fantastic, I don't know who you are but I'm happy for you! there's no much honesty around internet and content creators anymore.
I have this guitar and to get a decent tone the signal chain gets really crazy. One vst that helps a lot to get definition on the low frequencies is Gullfoss live, I pair it with Saturn from Fabfilter. That goes into any neural DSP sim and sounds a lot better than the direct input. Great video!
I just recently bought this same one and I'm blown away! Build quality, like you said, is superb! The cleans are something else and I love how it "feels". I can really feel those low tunings going through the guitar and vibrating into me. I've not tried to set mine up yet but the action is still crazy high and I'd love to play leads on it more. Such an inspiring instrument that's got the classic vibes and style but just begs for really high octane playing.
great review, and agreed on a lot of those points, pickup height can help a bit (you can cut up a mouse pad to raise the height) and also use a screwdriver to raise the pole pieces i found there's quite a bit of sympathetic ringing (above the nut and below the bridge) but that's easy enough to deal with i settled for now on a drop F# setup with light strings that really helps for clarity i think too
I bought 28" scale baritone and from the first moment i knew that it will be my all time type of guitars. This Gretsch is really grabbing my attention! Love the SLAMMING song man!!!
Finally got to see Loathe in person at Sick New World here in Vegas. 🔥 I’ve been addicted to this tone since. Very interested in hearing what new pickups would unlock for this guitar!
I also was looking for the Gretsch g5260 in Jade Metallic but settled on the Bristol Fog. To my surprise I loved the Bristol Fog ….a beauty. Thanks for the setup tips as I’m taking my low string to 100 also.
I just bought one same color a month ago! Highly recommend it! I’ve played standard guitar for over 20 years. Bartone is the way to go love the low. Yes great quality. I got it from Sweetwater.
Great video! Any chance you'll be planning on any more pickup videos? I'd love to see you maybe rewind the bridge in this baritone or something cool like that.
Baritone and Bass VI are not interchangable terms. The Bass VI is a full octave below standard guitar range, just like any other bass. Baritones are traditionally tuned B to B.
All Bass VIs are baritones, but not all baritones are Bass VIs. Baritone is just a subgroup of instrument that contains all extended range instruments. The standard tuning for baritone guitars is a perfect 5th below concert pitch (E2-e3 standard) which would actually be A-a; but perfect fourth (B-b), major 3rd (C-c) and full octave (E1-e2) are other typical ranges
Should have bought the HB JA-Baritone. Much nicer and has contours and they did a great job on the guitar. The one thing is that they rolled the fret ends. Guitar is a monster
The pickups have been the most uninspiring part of this guitar, so I ordered some BKP p90’s to change it up. Need to find some wooden dowels to glue into the cavity so I can mount the pickups but should be fun
Man i want this, but also want a squire bass vi for double drop d And while i want this more then the bass vi, i don’t know if the .25 would make it too small for it or not…
Love all the videos man. As a recent owner of a Gretsch Baritone, what action height do you recommend? When I first got mine it was super high but I lowered it recently and it suddenly sounded and played much better. Do you know of as sweet spot?
A Quad Cortex rhythm preset for E/C#AEADF# would be nice. Also I've seen people retrofit these with a regular humbucker -sized Bare Knuckle Impulse on the bridge and it sounds gnarly.
i bought this guitar last year and i love it but you're right about the low end. it gets so blurry that i've been having trouble getting a crispy articulate tone without the noise floor peeking through noticeably. whats your signal chain??
Question for anyone playing baritones for the first time - my fingers and hand are SORE! I've played bass before too and not had this hand fatigue. I wonder if it's just the action mixed with the tension. Would love thoughts
Hey there, great review! Tried one in a guitar store. Didn't like the neck profile and the body contour didn't sit right with me. Ended up getting he Squier cabronita baritone instead. Btw, what drumkit are you using for the song at the end?
Bro, for the pickups, DiMarzio just came out with new Filtertron style pickups (PAF and Super Distortion) and they could help you get a better tone Nice video, btw
Mon 1:09 PM You sent hello i hope u see this message!! my gf is a huge fan of your band (loathe) and she even has a tattoo of "I let it in and it took everything" I would like to ask if you guys can send her a birthday video greeting this Dec 1!! pls pls pls!! 😭🙏 love from the Philippines!!
NGL i REALLY dont understand where this obsession with Gretsch has come from. They are NOT metal guitars. just because its a baritone and can hold hella low tuning, people seem to think its great. 'it sounds great clean' yeah no shit buddy, its for bluesy wank. The heavies sound baggy and floppy as fuck. Im almost certain this is a fashion thing. you like them because they are a bit of a hipster brand especially in the metal scene. If erik and a couple choice other players didnt have one noone would give a shit.
Dude please let me do some vocal tracks on top of that absolute *BANGER* you just dropped on us like it’s not a big deal to compose something this good 😂 It’s free HMU if you’re interested. purely for the sake of making good music Please ? 🥲
bro played a new loathe track and thought we wouldnt notice
Even his Loathe shirt is so discreet :D

Outro track slaps so hard. Congrats on the new fiddle man!
I was only looking for baritone guitar videos, and only occasionally dabble in metal, but what a head banger I have stumbled upon.
i love the way this guitar sounds clean and then plays it with verb and delay
Ah, the sneaky rabea riff in there for taste :D
Thats a instant Subscribe right there!
I’m trying to remember which tune it was!
@@zaiaku3430it’s the Djent 2020 one 👀
@@RaynP shweet, much thanks!
could you make a video on how you get a tone like this? it sounds lovely and I'd love to know your thought process behind it all.

Try a microamp or EP booster with the Gretsch into Nameless... ;)

I love how it looks
oh that's so sick! Congrats! Song sounds dooope, love that chromatic part!
That low chug tease got me...
I’m getting one soon, so awesome to see your evaluation of it!!
I'll for sure end up getting one of these eventually. Sound SO SO SO good
Loving your channel and the vibe!
I just bought one same color a month ago! Highly recommend it! I’ve played standard guitar for over 20 years. Bartone is the way to go love the low. Yes great quality. I got it from Sweetwater.
SO here for this
only just stumbled on your content! really enjoy your set up/unboxing videos :D i think you may have sold me on baritone aswell!
Got the same one, it came set up in b standard though!! And I prefer that tuning tbh
the demo track is SO SICK. You fkin rock doggie
yay!!!
Thanks for picking it up for me while I was away hehe
I’ve been frothing at the mouth to get this exact one, my 21st coming soon lmfao so here’s hoping 🙏
Thank you Tim you the goat
squeaky clean! gorgeous guitar
Daaamnn Rayn Pickup x Gretsch already? We cooking around here damnnn
Hi Ryan , I’d love to know what drill size did you use to get the 105 gauge through? Thank you ❤.
Yesterday I bought the only gretsch baritone in Russia and I’m happy
Love the guitar. Have you tried a boost to tighten up that super low C string? A precision drive or even a TS9 might do the trick or a 5 band eq.
Beautiful sounds! What are the tune you playing at 12:12 ? Sounds so good 😢
Great video! Any chance you'll be planning on any more pickup videos? I'd love to see you maybe rewind the bridge in this baritone or something cool like that.
that's sick dude!
My friend has one and I tend to find sitting in like a classical guitar position is the best for it
love the Omori shirt!! 💖
that intro note hard af lmao
Baritone and Bass VI are not interchangable terms. The Bass VI is a full octave below standard guitar range, just like any other bass. Baritones are traditionally tuned B to B.
The difference between a 30 inch baritone and a 30 inch bass 6 is just semantics. You can tune them the same.
This is the best intro I've ever seen.
I recently found the jade grey in second hand and it's wonderful
Should have bought the HB JA-Baritone. Much nicer and has contours and they did a great job on the guitar. The one thing is that they rolled the fret ends. Guitar is a monster

Hey man, Great Video!
Have you ever thought about putting an Evertune Bridge in one of those?
Love all the videos man. As a recent owner of a Gretsch Baritone, what action height do you recommend? When I first got mine it was super high but I lowered it recently and it suddenly sounded and played much better. Do you know of as sweet spot?

Ryan pls if you rewound your pickups let us non how you did it and maybe make a pair of it that we could buy😭❤️

I beg you to tell us how did you make that clean tone
What’s the drill size? 👉🏼👈🏼
Cool!
I have the same drill! it's a good drill.
Hey there, great review!
Tried one in a guitar store. Didn't like the neck profile and the body contour didn't sit right with me. Ended up getting he Squier cabronita baritone instead.
Btw, what drumkit are you using for the song at the end?
That annoying bass frequency can be dialed down with a parametric EQ, no need to swap pickups.
Bro has the exact loathe profile they use… I wish I could achieve that 😂
How about intonation with this 105 string?
I have this guitar. Put will adler fishmans in it. Truly a great instrument
GET LOATHED
God damn I want one too, they're so fucking cool. C'mon Gretsch, make a left hand model!
WANT WANT WANT
HI RYAN LOVE YOU MISS YOU GOAT
Miss you too!!!
Instrument made for french pop and dark type stuff... Complains about literally retro specs and shape. Love it
Do u have the Subzero Baritone too?
Would be cool if they made this guitar for lefties!
If you want to have real fun, get one with a Bigsby on it 😁.
Dude I fw the Omori shirt
Rabea djent riff goes hard
Playing twelve foot ninja 3:40 i see😏
Bro, for the pickups, DiMarzio just came out with new Filtertron style pickups (PAF and Super Distortion) and they could help you get a better tone
Nice video, btw
How much does it weigh?
damn, you play some mean guitar!!!
I’d put a capo on it 😊
from that original song seems like you could have just bought a 1 string bass and been fine
Based
not a fan of that style of music at all but based you're fronting an omori shirt with multiple zoom-ins. that's fuckin rock and roll man
Noice.
I'm sorry you had to live the omori's story
buy 7s gauge strings. Tune it to E standard.
I thought Baritone was B-B
i got the red one and the build quality was fucking terrible
Mon 1:09 PM
