    This is just incredible. The first time we saw the BTS of Oblivion’s environment back in 2013, it just really blew our minds away!

    Hey guy, congradulation, it seem when you look at what you did, it's the same path as the first car that was electric in the 1900's but finally came back to the 2000's to be the best of all solution. As with the volume you can look back at films such as King Kong 1933, where screen projection was the most important fx in the success of this film outside stop motion, so it seem again in 2023, almost 100 year to get back to this technic that is the best solution to everything. I understand all the challenges you came accross to create this. Amazing work keep going, the future now look bright for FX using Lux Machina !!!

      They can. As stated in the video, it doesn't have to be as big as this set. It's as simple as having one projector screen and render whatever background you want in real time, using Unreal engine. You can scale as your budget/funds increases. Look at the underlying principle, rather than the scale of what was shown in this video.

      Film Riot did it with a version with a green screen, and a version with a short-throw projector. There's no excuses anymore!

    Please reconsider lowering the perpetual license a bit to make this a more competative solution alternative to the other options. Right now it is more affordable to switch to Vive setup. But I love your effort and using this old tech.

    So basically, all of this is done just as to integrate physical actors into a 3D virtual set. Seems to me it would be more efficient in the long term to simply virtualize actors and render everything in silico.

    I have an electrical question... If I were building a 50'x17' video wall, say using 300 500mm x 500mm LED cabinet/panels in a studio, what 40watts per LED module, so that's 160watts per LED cabinet/panel, we're looking at 40kw at that scale, what would a breaker configuration look like? What would I tell a studio owner to tell his electrician? Yes, if you've read a little bit between the lines, I do possess a knowledge gap on how the power works on these LED walls. I am trying hard to fill those gaps. Wondered if you would elaborate on what you had to do for power during this build. - Thanks!

    • @gamerfam8727
      @gamerfam8727 2 роки тому +1

      To make it sound a little easier. You would tell the studio you want 2 separate 300amp Services running in two different Distros to power your wall. 10 soca, with each line powering each row of Led, each soca has 5 fan outs. 500x500 cabinets are most likely 3.9 or maybe 2.6. So you can definitely power up to 22 tiles per leg.

      Your display Hz should be equivalent to your camera's frame rate. For most film work, this will usually be 24 Hz.
      They're using the ROE Black Pearl 2 panels, the same that were used on The Mandalorian, which have a pixel pitch of 2.84mm. Pixel pitch is the distance between the center of a pixel to the center of the pixel next to it. So there's 2.84mm between pixels. This can be used to determine the best viewing distance while avoiding moire by using this formula:
      Optimal viewing distance (in feet) = Pixel pitch x 8
      So for an LED volume with a pixel pitch of 2.8mm, you should place your talent about 20ft in front of the wall, or else the camera will focus on the individual LEDs on the wall (casuing a moiré pattern).

    Maybe I'm just not understanding what they're saying, but I fail to see what's so amazing about this. It's basically just CGI in real time, right? Seems to be an extension of the George Lucas mindset of the prequel era. I still miss the days of practical effects and real craftsmen and set decorators bringing visions to life.

  • @АнтонНикитин-о1н

    Very soon, AI will leave all these studios out of work. Get ready. It will be enough just to describe the scenario to it and the AI will draw and visualize everything without a bunch of expensive and complex equipment, without a team of hundreds of people. This is not a fairy tale - this is the real future.
