Wait, a UA-cam suggestion for an actually useful app? 👌 This looks extremely cool but at 120$ a year also quite pricey... I will definitely give it a try though since Google search has become such a mess lately 😵
I have been a really happy Kagi user for a while now, truly unmatched in the grand scheme of things. I totally get that $10/mo is a lot to some people, they do have multiple tiers with limited searches per month. I believe that people have been trained to not understand value when it comes to the internet and software; it is not free, never has been and never will be, just let that sink in. I know, no one would be able to afford everything they use if every product/service starts charging, but just pick your battles and put thought into how you spend your money.
Great video and great product. I've been a loyal customer for a year and a half now, and I'm not going anywhere else any time soon. It's not just the company's mission (which is great) but it's also just a superior PRODUCT. Such a rare combo.
Is there a way to set a lens or some wiget to ensure zero AI results are returned? Im one of those people who do not think AI has "my" best interests at heart
We'll pass it on to our devs! It's something we are certainly considerig, but will require us to tread that path very-carefully and with our users as a first priority.
Hi, will you consider implementing a Purchasing-Power Parity pricing? 10 USD per month is huge in India. 3 USD would be appropriate. Use Parity Deals from Stripe and we will sign up in droves.
@ unless I’m mistaken from your demo. You’re adding steps and complexity. Your competition is in the midst of doing the opposite. Hell I even probably now use ChatGPT for answers as much as a search engine.
Your branding team appears to have skipped doing proper research (quite ironic for a search company). In many Portuguese-speaking countries like Portugal, Brazil, Angola, and Mozambique, "Kagi" resembles the word "caguei" (pronounced kah-gay or kah-gee in Brazilian Portuguese). This is the past tense of the verb "cagar," meaning "to defecate." Literally translated, "caguei" means "I pooped," and it's often used informally or humorously, sometimes with a dismissive tone, like saying "I don’t care" or "Whatever." A little search could have saved you from this! For context, Portuguese is spoken by approximately 260 million people worldwide, quite a substantial audience to alienate unintentionally. As for your product, it's an interesting idea, but it's very expensive for most developing countries. Bring the cost down to something reasonable, like $1 or $2 per month, and make a clear, public promise that you'll never collect and sell user data-ever!!. If you can ensure reasonable pricing and privacy for your users now and in the future, I don’t see why millions of people wouldn’t jump on board. The idea is solid; it just needs better execution and accessibility.
Kagi can mean many things, in many countries. It also translates to "Key" in Japanese which is another reason why we chose this brand name as our goal is to open the door to the internet's information without distractions and without tracking. $1/$2 is not possible, but we are looking into the possibility of purchasing-power parity.
@@KagiInc "Kagi can mean many things in many countries"-that's exactly why you needed to do a proper market research. Anyway, why isn't $1 or $2 per month possible? Even capturing just 10% of Google Search's active users would generate nearly half a billion dollars monthly, assuming you pick $1 per month. That’s more than enough to run a highly sustainable business with a robust infrastructure and hundreds of employees.
WAY too expensive. When thhe competition is more well establishhed and can thrive on fractions of an advertising cent per user theres no way to justify $10 / month per user for this.
It depends how much you find the distractions get in your way, I'm thinking it may be worth it. There's definitely a space for this solution when considering user pain points. Probably not "the future of search" for everyone though.
Ooooh, pretty neat to have videos like this!
Thanks! There will be more coming throughout 2025.
Great to have a video like this! Been using Kagi for over a year now and I love it.
Thank you so much for being a loyal customer! :)
Wonderful product. Paying subscriber for 2 years now..
Wow, thanks so much!

Thanks so much Dann, that's super appreciated!
Good video, didn't realize what custom lenses could do (or that they were a thing)! Will be of great use for me in the future :)
Thank you, and enjoy Lenses! :)

The one dislike here came from Google...
Thumbs up to Academic Search Toggle!
❤
The one thing I am missing, that Google has, is a "products"/"shopping" tab. Would be really valueble in a no ad search engine

🤯 I've been saying the name wrong this whole time. I was going with a 'zhi' for the G.
I still use "zhi" because the correct pronunciation sounds like "cague" in Portuguese, which is the imperative of "shit".
I like the emphasis on focus and traction here = probably give it a try.
If you do give it a go, please let us know what you think!
@@KagiInc hehe just visited the website, love the brand personality and the dog graphic across the price points
Interesting but aren't you worried to contribute to create informational bubbles ? Are you adding a dose of random diversification of the results ?
Yes.
@@KagiInc Ok, cool ! 😊
im going to have to askjeeves about kagi. i kid i kid
Noooo 😂
I knew I recognised you from Retro Dodo! Great addition to the team.
👋
The irony is someone's building search engines in 2025.
Kagi used to process credit card payments

Yes, that is something we are looking into!
Without Ads, how do you generate revenue?
We are a paid search engine. $10/m gets you unlimited searches.
How do you make money then?
We are a paid search engine. $10/m for unlimited searches.
So you’ve made a more complicated search engine right at the time the whole search industry is moving to ai, apps and agents? 🤔🧐
We're making the most efficient, user-friendly search engine in the world.

Too long to get explanation
We have a shorter version coming soon.

I pay for the highest tier (25 USD) because the search is so much better than all alternatives, and I get multiple chatbot models in Assistant.
