Film opens at the North Carolina Agriculture Building; barker with top hat; people in line for tickets; scenes following one family throughout; fair scenes; important people getting onto Ferris Wheel; nighttime scenes; Bob Hope and a beauty queen; Hope meets the family's little girl; barker again; end credits. The Century Film Productions "North Carolina State Fair" series contains raw film and soundtrack elements, workprints, and final prints of the short promotional film about the annual state fair in Raleigh, North Carolina. The film includes brief highlights from years past, but mainly follows one family throughout their day at the fair. Several of these film elements received conservation treatments and were copied as part of a 2014 National Film Preservation Foundation Grant, which resulted in the creation of a preservation mag track, a preservation color internegative, a preservation positive optical track, a preservation negative optical track, and a New Answer Print. The NFPF Grant funding was secured largely due to the efforts of film historian and archivist Melissa Dollman, who processed the Century Film Collection and worked with Dr. Devin Orgeron’s film studies class at NC State University to research the studio and the work of the owner and filmmaker O. B. Garris.

I kinda wish they still had banger races at the fair.
Since the quarter-mile track was decommissioned, most of it was converted into a paved midway. The first straightway, grandstands and restrooms are still there, and they do have tractor pulls during the fair.

Since 1968 the 1st time was 84 is was about 15 then remembering the the suppose to be the guerilla woman bk then I was afraid as well as the glass house bk then also but my favorite ride was the flying bob and the Himalaya went there last yr it didn't feel the same giant turkey leg was my favorite

I miss the sideshows and the barkers. "Gorilla gorilla gorilla girl!" Comes to mind.
