    I appreciate the simple, easy to understand definitions and visual aids. My textbook has too many descriptors and it's hard to get a good idea of what it is.

    Great brief! I'm not sure some Professionals truely understand how people in mental health can become worse, and lives not worth living, after the side effects of these drugs and medication. Movement disorders are prevalent and in over 50% of users.. Painful cramps, spasms, twitches, buzzing under the skin and pulling ridiculous faces, can be most embarrassing & cause further anxiety & stress to the patient. (As if the person hasn't already got enough to contend with!)
    Patient X, real name Deborah Young, prescribed lithium, maintained her quarterly kidney function tests, is now on dialysis 3 days a week and waiting for a kidney. The rising numbers of kidney transplant patients, due to antipsychotics & antidepressants is alarming.. This briefing is so very important because these conditions are irreversible.😢
    It's just starting to come to light, the association between autism and antidepressants during conception and foetal development..
    Anti-nausea medication such as metoclopramide and others, are giving this generation "movement disorders," Tourettes and tics..
    This is where we must pay attention to, informing the patient the true meaning of "outweighing the benefits and the risks," when taking any kind of medications during pregnancy.. and especially when prescribing or taking a combination of both.
    God bless your works, whoever reads this, your knowledge is important🙏🏽

    Thank you for this. Working in mental health I would add that resting tremors is something I have seen a lot of due to a side effects of medication (whether it causes Parkinsons or just the symptoms I am not sure)

    • @kellimorrison
      @kellimorrison 2 роки тому +1

      If it is only due to medication, it is parkinsonism, not Parkinson's disease (although parkinsonism is seen with Parkinson's disease, if this makes sense). Parkinsonism is the cluster of movements, while the disease process is caused by lesions on the basal ganglia. While medications don't cause Parkinson's disease per se, they can stimulate the emergence of or worsen symptoms in those with developing Parkinson's disease.

    • @ralsharp6013
      @ralsharp6013 Рік тому

      @@kellimorrisona lot of the resting tremors and parkinsonism I've seen, are from medications.. Either directly or environmentally. Environmentally generally means perhaps one of your folks was on a medication (or could be in a home or work environment,) that affected the developing serotonin, dopamine, basal ganglia, cerebral cortex ect..
      I'm not sure if you've seen Gil Hedley's sruff? I love picking his brains😂

    As a person that has lived with Myoclonus Dystonia for 55 years , I sooner of died at birth. I'll donate my brain and body to science but honestly it is the most frustrating of lives to live in a body that WON'T stop moving.

      I could’ve written this 6 months ago. My shakes were so bad it’s like I was being electrocuted. I worked with my mind to start decoding the bad signals, getting more and more tolerant to the pain so I could “listen” to my nervous system. With lots of intention I started to learn to talk to my nerves, hearing them scream and then teaching them this was okay and we wernt dying!
      From there my mind started going to the source of the impulses, and I would start to have experiences like “okay my foot hurts, but why? Ohh it’s cuz there’s a nerve running from my neck to it but really it’s my neck. So why does my neck hurt? Because it’s all twisted up.” And then the source of the pain would start to straighten out.
      Its been a lot of worked but I dropped my pain by about 80%. I can walk much more normally and even started weight lifting again! I am starting to notice I can wear the dystonia out to the point that it’s not strong enough to make me shake anymore!
      Push hard. Doctors will tell you there’s no reason to fight but they are wrong!

    Intriguing. After developing & recovering from rheumatic fever with Sydenham's chorea when i was 12, to being relatively recently diagnosed with generalised dystonia just before 30 the differences and similarities are interesting. Would love to know if the infection in my brain had any impact or influence on my later diagnoses....i strongly suspect so, but neurology dont seem to agree.

      Intriguing. I had so much strep as a kid and im blaming the dystonia that started in my 20s on it 😅
      Whats actually interesting to me is that the journey to recover from dystonia has led me to a place where Im seeing all sorts of very old, bad feelings finally go away. I feel better than at any time in my life and it makes me wonder if sll the strep didnt affect my neurology 🤔

    Sorry for my bad English
    My doc. Cant find what movement disorder i have, so i wll explain it here. When im at rest(not moving) and then move suddenly my half left body experience uncontrollable movement and jerk for 5-10 seconds it happens on my right too.
    Its day to day struggle for me but i manage somehow and hide it to everybody at my workplace until last month they saw me having an attck i was close on hitting the ground and jerk for 5sec i told them that im just dizzy since im doing my best to hide it and then they reviewed the cctv and i was there i told them dont because i dont want to feel embarrass.When they reviewing all them is laughing so I LAUGH SO HARD TOO because i dont know what to say and then someone take a vid. I really dont know what i felt that time its just my emotion is too confused to express it. But days later i told to my manger that it happens to me everytime i move when im at rest.
    I dont know what kind of involuntary movement disorder i have but i really wanna know the causes, i hope someone like me experience this to. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME READING AND UNDERSTANDING MY ENGLISH:)

      @@ronniewoodring9171 i did eeg and I went to neurologist and they told me that my brain functions fine but I'm still scared for my movement disorder, it happens in many of my muscles but it's worst in neck. Ehen I move from time to time my neck will sudenly jerk and it would be pretty scary but it never happens when I'm not moving my muscles and it looks like intentional myoclonus but like my psychologist chiropraxtor psychitrist and neurologist think it's because of anxiety/tech neck, but I'm always thinking like what if that was reaction to trauma from when my father died of cancer in 2018 ehen I was 17 or from some bad weed or alchocol expirience, so it's so fucking annoying, so I'm trying to find answer anywhere tp ease my anxiety. So what's your opinion? Am I trippin and should I just believe everybody or am I fucked up.
