Hi girl.
Hey Hyram, cell biologist here. The fibroblast cell conditioned medium in the SkinMedica serum will have been taken from human fibroblast cells grown in cell culture in a lab. When cells are grown in the lab they are grown in what we call culture medium, this is a liquid that contains growth factors and other nutrients like glucose that the cells need to survive and divide. As they grow the fibroblast cells will release their own growth factors such as HGF, EGF and TGF, as well as matrix proteins like collagen, fibronectin, elastin etc into the medium they are growing in i.e. the cells “condition” the medium. This medium can be harvested from the cells and then used as a skincare ingredient. It would be interesting to know what fibroblast cell line they used to generate the conditioned medium and whether they characterised how much of each growth factor was present in the medium when harvested. I should think they would have but this information may be proprietary.

Bio PhD student here! Human fibroblast conditioned media means they culture human fibroblasts (type of cells) in media (you can think of this as liquid food for cells that are used in labs). The fibroblasts release growth factors into the media as it lives. I guess they used this conditioned media to enrich the product with a cocktail of growth factors - hope that was helpful!

I’ve officially made my ENTIRE skincare routine Hyram approved! I’ve literally watched all the vids and bought stuff to make my skincare routine all products hyram approves of! I’m really happy about it lol 😂

the only “bad” alcohol is denatured alcohol - and even then it’s often used as a delivery system for other ingredients on the inci list, cosmetic chemists use it often for that reason. (hyram just has a problem with it being so high on an ingredient list because it can be drying to some skin types). but there are plenty of fatty alcohols that are really great for the skin. skincare isn’t black and white.
There's nothing wrong with alcohol. Fatty alcohols are brilliant emollients, for example, and denatured alcohol is harmless (and actually beneficial in many cases!) when formulated correctly.

Just like peoples bodies get used to and dependent on alcohol, you can do the same the with sleep deprivation. Ive struggled with insomnia my whole life and it's really horrible to not get consistent sleep. You're body is asking for more rest for sure. It could take you weeks to catch up. Please be gentle with yourself and don't ever make yourself feel guilty for getting the sleep you need 💜

yeah, sleep is a NECESSITY, not a luxury! It's critical for proper functioning, cognitive performance, and health. Obviously there are times when one may have to skimp on sleep, but it shouldn't become something that's a competition or done when it's not necessary. I think everyone should read about all the things that happen during sleep and the necessary functions it does for the brain and body so they don't just think it's a relaxation routine or something they can regularly skimp on and be fine (unless they're a legitimate short sleeper, i.e. those rare people that only truly need 3 - 5 hours of sleep). Studies have found that operating on little sleep is similar to the cognitive abilities one has when drunk. Sleep is also critical for memory and processing of events and emotions. I've noticed that people who tend to consistently get 8 - 9+ hours of sleep a day (either straight through or via naps), like my mom and her mom did when they were young and middle-aged, definitely have better memory. It's amazing how much people will be focused on diet, exercise, skincare, etc but pay so little attention to sleep, which is arguably certainly more important to both physical and mental health than diet, exercise, skincare, etc. One scientist who studied the impacts of diet, exercise, and sleep said that he used to think they were equally important pillars of good health, but actually concluded through his research that sleep was the single most important pillar of health

I use their lazy day moisture pads and they’re so good! I’ve used their glass skin serum too and it made my skin really glowy. It’s expensive, but clean, fragrance-free, and all around worth it :)

I’m 11 too but my parents don’t let me buy any cleansers or serums or pretty much anything! I only have moisturizer, does anyone have any recommendations on what I can use that helps my pimples and scars?
@@zoyajohn Firstly, make sure you are using a good moisturizer and the right one for your skin type and use a facial sunscreen spf 30 or above along with it everyday - reapply it as often as you can (I think your parents won’t mind) and avoid touching your face too. You should wash your face everyday, if you can’t buy any facial cleansers use one to the body (but try to use a gentle one) and wash only at night (because body washes are to harsh for the face). Since your parents don’t let you use any serums you could try to change a little your diet, less milk and sugar and more vegetables and fruits and also wash your towels, bed sheets and pillowcases often (minimum of once a week) see if you have an improvement. If it doesn’t improve, I recommend going to a doctor (try to convince your parents) so he will prescribe something and then your parents won’t be able to say no (I guess)

I’ve gotten into this habit where if I notice you (and Susan Yara) have uploaded, I’ll wait to watch it until I’m doing my skincare routine before bed. I pop in a headphone, put my hair up, set out the products and then press play & do my routine. It’s relaxing.

Can I just say thank you for doing what you do on here? I work in Beauty at Target despite my college degree being 100% unrelated to cosmetology. Thanks to your channel, I’ve been able to recommend guests good skincare (some which we unfortunately don’t carry at Target) before directing them to your channel so that they don’t have to feel like all this skincare knowledge is something exclusive that only experts can understand.

I LOVE the makeup eraser! It’s very very soft and doesn’t feel like an actual towel at all. I use it just with water and then go in with a cleanser to get the rest of the makeup and dirt off!

Hyram I’ve been watching you for a while and it has been such a refreshing addition to my feed. I recently tried a lip balm with limonene and I had an allergic reaction on my lips to this ingredient. Without you drilling in me about these fragrant ingredients I would have never known about the cause of my allergic reaction. Thank you Hyram!

Hyram I wanted to thank you for helping save my skin. I’m 18 and have had bad breakouts since I was 12. Before I watched your channel about 8 months ago I was using neutrogena pink grape fruit face scrub, makeup wipes, clean and clear toner and clean and clear watermelon moisturizer. My mom told me not to wear sunscreen cause the sun would clear up my skin. Then I wondered why my skin was so bad. Since I noticed your channel and started doing my own research and experimenting my skin has almost completely cleared up. I use micellar water, cera ve face wash for normal to oily skin, simple 100% alcohol free toner, cera ve retinol, the ordinary niacinamide serum, mario budescu spot treatment, and cera ve am and pm moisturizers with additional sunscreen in the morning by cera ve and the ordinary aha and bha mask for 10 minutes once a week. My skin has cleared up more than I thought it ever could. I’m so thankful for your channel and all your help. You’re a complete inspiration
