The actress who played Baby actually learned how to dance on set. Those first scenes in the movie were authentic af. Patrick, who’s mom was a dance teacher, and other dance teachers/choreographers really worked hard throughout the movie to get Baby to the final scene.
Patrick was a natural .... and the chemistry between him and ' Baby ' is a large part of the reason that this movie is considered, justifiably, a modern classic. Period. RIP Mr. Swayze
I just love that cute spin and the 'high/ drunk on energy and sexuality' vibe which Baby gives off at around the 5.53 mark, where she just looks totally dazed, nearly falling over and blissful. In the space of just a minute Johnny brings her out of her shyness and she experiences sexual chemistry and the liberation of dancing for the first time, and it just blows her mind! And the cute way she adjusts her dress when she comes back to reality and adheres to the 'properness' she's used to. Just a really well acted scene showing how one's first sexual experiences (even if its not actual sex, but just something like flirting or dancing) can be eye-opening and liberating. And Johnny, being more experienced, just walking off like a macho badass ladies man who has just shown her the time of her life and is unfazed by it is a fantastic contrast! Such a great movie!
Oh yes! Lots to discover about this movie. Two differ worlds that seem to not match..but the final dance is the climax where they mix up and It's amazing. Lots of positive messages. Not only a love story romance.. but also a social deep exploration

klarkus, I never really had to make my Boys watch it. They loved to watch movies with mom!! So on a Rainy weekend I'd be curled up in bed watching either Dirty Dancing or Grease and my Boys would come climb in bed with mom(cause dad was usually working a 12 hour graveyard or Swing Shift Shift) and they'd watch my movie with me and would enjoy it!! Now Of Course, this was Pre-Teens! LOL Cause we all know Moms n Dads grow Cooties once our kids become 12/13yrs Old!! hahahaha
