CLIP DESCRIPTION:
The dance hall goes wild with a provocative dance led by Johnny (Patrick Swayze).
FILM DESCRIPTION:
A teenage girl learns about love, adult responsibility, and how to do The Dirty Boogie in this romantic drama. In 1963, "Baby" Houseman (Jennifer Grey) is a 17-year-old spending the summer with her family at a resort hotel in the Catskills; she plans on being in the Peace Corps next summer, so this is expected to be her last summer as a carefree adolescent. Baby doesn't get along with her older sister, Lisa (Jane Brucker), and she's bored to tears by most of the older guests at the resort. However, one night Baby hears what sounds like a party going on in the employee's dormitory, and she pokes her head in to discover most of the hotel staff enjoying the sort of close dancing that would get you kicked out of the senior prom in no time flat. Baby is particularly struck by handsome Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze), a dancer in the resort's floor show, and falls head over heels in love, wanting to be near him. When Johnny's dance partner, Penny (Cynthia Rhodes), finds herself pregnant after a fling with one of the waiters, Baby volunteers to learn her steps and take her place; however, Baby's father, Dr. Jake Houseman (Jerry Orbach), will have none of it, convinced that Johnny is a low life and that his daughter is too young to understand her own feelings. Dirty Dancing was a surprise box-office hit, and the soundtrack album was an even bigger success, spawning several hit singles and inspiring a top-drawing concert tour featuring several of its artists.

Patrick Swayze was electrifying. One of the sexiest, most manly and gifted dancers in history.
still hard to believe he is gone from us, a great actor and a great movie, I could watch over and over

His memory and legacy lives on.
Sooooo True!!!❤
I think most people got introduced to this movie by their mom's 😂 and when I have kids I'm willing to show this to my sons or daughters.
sons?
Same
@@craigcotter7476 yes,any problem with that (?)
Vanessa Nolan yes I did, this is my mom’s favorite movie of all time!
Mee tooo i love this movies from India🇮🇳
The fact we lost him makes so much more precious. He was a gift. Thank you, Patrick.
2009 was such a rough year for celebrity loses.
We'll never forget his endeavours with Bubbles and Rick
My god, the talent of Patrick Swayze is just unmatched. Is there anything he couldn't do? He was in his own league. A renaissance man, talented in many fields. He set a very high bar, which is almost impossible to reach for most people. A true legend. You will never see another Patrick Swayze, a guy like this was that rare!
And he's deeply missed. You simply don't have any iconic actors and performers like him today. None.
@@BXtremP Very true.. when you try to think of a comparison, you draw blanks, there simply isn't any.
Live laugh LOVE patrick swayze. Not only was he iconic him as a person was anazing
We're a rare breed these days... I love to dance..my buddies give me crap...but guess who always has the women around him?😂 And the idiots can't figure it out😂
Stop smoking
After Patrick Swayzes death they said in a documentary that he and Jennifer Grey didn't like each other at all and that especially Patrick didn't want to act with her. Amazing how they managed to change their actual feelings in front of the camera.
I heard he's the one that persuaded her to act in this movie with him though :)
ya, they made it DEFFINTLY believable
But she went to his funeral... I'm not denying they hated each other, I'm just saying they probably made up...
Patrick Swayze said in an interview years later that they didn't hate each other. The problem was they were doing 20 hour shoots because the budget only allowed them something like a month and a half to get it all done. That made everyone irritable after awhile which is fully understandable
Really? I never heard either of them speak ill about the other person. They both held each other in high regard. I also heard like someone else commented that they were on an extremely tight budget and needed to get the movie done as fast as possible which would definitely make for a lot of tension between any one, not just them. But I never heard they hated each other. I've watched several interviews before Patrick Swayze passed and several now of Jennifer and they both, as I said, always talked highly of each other and considered each other "friends" maybe not best friends, but still friends. She even balled her eyes out she said when she heard of his passing. I think it was just because tensions were high because of the tight budget and rushed schedule.
No body puts baby in the corner

I agree love dirty dancing xx
@@swaggyghoulies2690 you are not babys father 😂😂😂😂 wtf you talking about 😂😂😂
Ohhh yes
@@swaggyghoulies2690 That is what I was thinking while watching this. The relationship is creepy. She is like 15-17 and he is in his late 20's or early 30's
That little nose kiss he does in the beginning 😍😍
And his smirk gahhhh
He kissed her 4 times. First the nose, then the hand, then the cheek, and finally on the lips. Now that's love.

The remake was an epic failure!!
@@Vixen743 glad to hear that, bc the remake was horrible
This song played at my school dance. My friend and I know this scene by heart, so we literally did the whole thing. But unfortunately failed at the lift
Me and my mother know the dance and we love the movie we always fail at the lift and he scream and laugh every time
Makes it more epic hahahha
لعب
wow that's impressive!
damn it!!
Will always remain one of the greatest dancing finales along with Flashdance and Footloose. There was just something about the 1980s. Actors in the movies could dance back then.
Patrick was actually a dancer first. He grew up learning dance from his mom, dancer and choreographer Patsy Swayze. And for Flashdance, the actress, Jennifer Beals who played that main character was not the dancer in those famous scenes. That was a pro standing in named Marine Jahan.
Give credit where it due the step up movies from the second one up are good
My class is doing this dance as a play
Bith great movies t9oo
Also Strictly Ballroom has a very good finale scene.
Just stopping by to clean my eyes out after that horrifying remake.

R.I.P Patrick Swayze :( . Such a beautiful dance. I really love that movie! They dance so perfectly! And they've got a beautiful voice. :)
Same
They might have a beautifu voice but they are not singing The Time of My Life. The singers are Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes. By the way, Patrick Swayze did have a personal hit in this soundtrack singing She's Like the Wind.
He was so nice!
They werent singing tho...
I saw this film last night (29/8/24) for the first time. Super film, dance sequenties are fantastic. I feel very sad that Patrick Swayze is no longer with us.
When i get married i would like to dance this song with my husband. I just have to find a man who want to marry me and learn to dance🤣

@@averieberry6034 I'm just messing around. " this wasn't recommended, you searched for it" is a comment seen a lot on UA-cam videos
Even as a guy I love this scene so splendid
Maybe 😂
This is such an amazing scene. Everything the movie was about, the class and money differences, the danger of irresponsible choices and falling head over heals for an idiot, the rules Johny was fired for...they proved with this dance what a beautiful, hard-working, worthy relationship they had, something not to he ashamed of in front of anyone and despite everything that happened. 👌 Perfect story climax
Excuse me a idiot? He isn't the one that got fired he left at the end of the movie to go to college like some of the other young dancers who were hired in for the summer. The little lady the couple the shoemakers is what he talks about in a previous scene.
wrong its oure fub
This is another one of those movies that are timeless I have watched many times ❤the all the dance music ❤
This song proves that in everybody's life there is always: "Time of my life"
I dedicated this song, to FJC were ever he is,💋
Swayze is legendary
This took 1987 by storm. Especially proud for us living in the Catskills.
Now this IS dancing at it's finest!!!
Watching Patrck Swayze dance will always be a sight for sore eyes. I'll never get tired watching him doing what he does best.
Funny because every little girls at my primary school in the early nineties were crazy about this movie but now watching this today as a 40 years old adult with chilling nostalgia, the little boy in me must admit that this movie and this songs are iconic and goddamn classics. I miss Patrick Swayze so much!
I am looking at it and smiling every second of it. My favorite movie I watched 1000 times. Love them both equally. Break my heart when I think he is gone
1980's the gold + platinum age of culture
2:14 he literally just did a double with 0 momentum and no one is even talking about it. Does anyone figure skate anymore??
IIRC Schwayze had pro ballet training
Werent him and his mum professional dancers too
Totally put of this world!! 😍
Actually he was a ballet dancer and that is a move a ballet dancer does not just a skater
@@opsimathics he was amazing...
Patrick dancing and looking his best ever. Captured on film so we can have it forever. Jennifer was fantastic too. She later said she didn't like Patrick when they made their 1984 movie Red Dawn. But before they did their screen test for Dirty Dancing he apologized for the way he treated her with tears in his eyes. After he died she said she wished she could have apologized to him. She said "I am so sorry that I couldn't just appreciate and luxuriate in who you were..." however they felt about each other at times they were magic together in this movie.
I'm so happy that Baby's father is smiling by the end of this scene. It shows in his face that at that point, he's finally aware of Francis as she is now, and how she's grown as a person, and is so happy about seeing how she's grown into herself.
Jennifer Grey is absolutely stunning 😍
so romamtic. R.I.P Patrick 😔😪😭
Rest In Peace Patrick Swayze

Patrick is just so handsome! 😍💕
The first time I watched Dirty Dancing after Patrick had died I didn't think I could watch it again. Such a tragic early death to such a wonderful man. I've watched this move from my era so many times and I still get chills on my arms and legs at this scene. I'm 64!
I fell in love with this film when I saw it for the first time ^.^
Me, too, Its like three decades since
So did i. It was the best.
Favorite toh ni mama I love you mama sana kung nasaan ka man ngayon sana komportable ka at masaya mahal na mahal kita 💝🥺
Rest In Peace amazing PATRICK!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤ A LEGEND LIVES ON!!!
I find it great how, thanks to a beautiful scenery, a great cast, gorgeous dancing, a music score full of gems and the terrific chemistry between Swayze and Grey, from what could have been a standard coming-out-of-age film full of klischees and a boring and predictable plot turned out a classic of its time, a memorable piece of cinema that goes beyond generations. The Paradigm of a Chick Flick? Whatever, I a man and it don't even put the "guilty" before "pleasure"...
My most favorite too, plus the soundtrack. Made me love films' OST

When he shows the team the step and they ALL step...I LOVE IT ❤
I still get emotional over this movie. The fact that Patrick and Jenifer didn't like each other doesn't show at all. There are not many films which bring tears to my eyes, but this is one of them.
My heart goes out to all the children of the 80’s who innocently search “dirty dancing” in today’s social climate.

(Fact) The pair are said to have got along fine during filming, but were never best friends.
The director previously said there was some tension because Swayze was a trained dancer and would become easily frustrated while trying to teach Grey how to do the steps.
And there’s another moment which caused friction between the pair: when Patrick runs his hand down Jennifer’s arm and she bursts out laughing.
Well, the pair actually filmed that scene over 20 times but Grey kept getting the giggles, which is said to have irritated Swayze.
The director gave up in the end and decided to just leave the sweet moment in the film.
Qué bien ver qué la gente se divierte y es feliz, como debe ser.

We rented it for the first time when I was less than 1. But well I ended up walking and even dancing early. I didn't even want a baby bottle or a pacifier but sometimes I forgot about eating. I ended up one of the youngest female farmhands working on the Henley farm in another state.
