If you were baffled by the Wander 1/1s, you'd be blown away by all the Panini 1/1s. In Panini XR football there are 102 listed 1/1s in the checklist, and Panini puts out more sets. The number of Justin Herbert, Mac Jones and Jalen Hurts 1/1s have to be around 500 or more.
Still 500 isnt that many man for those players and versions. Plus they are making these cards cooler and cooler IMO! Its all about those rookies hold onto them, everyone wants to sell right away amd they regret it later! Anything /49, /25, /10, /5, /1 are great to hold onto long term. You know someone wants it, longer its off the market amd nobody sees it the better when it pops up
My perspective as a guy in charge of online sales for a card shop - All the 1/1s we list tend to sell very quickly, and for an amount that makes us a profit. Even though there are hundreds or thousands of 1/1s made for each player, there are way more people than that who want them. While they dont hold the cachet that they used to, they are more popular than ever.
Wow. This is bad. Feels like early 90s all over again. Excess supply now to fill spike in demand thereby killing future demand and value through a glut in supply. Great video. More on this thread please...
An abundant of 1/1’s substantially diminishes the players cards. And Wander Franco could not live up to his expectations. His cards could be worth very little in the future. Time will tell.
Thanks for doing all that research and figuring out the total. I knew there was alot of em cos i see em on ebay daily an I know i have a shit load of his base rc, too many!My first 1/1 is a wander 2020 leaf orange speckle,. Thanks and have a great day
The mainstay 1/1s of the classic sets will always be monsters. It doesn’t matter. It’s extremely healthy for the hobby to have affordable 1/1s for collectors who aren’t millionaires
If people don’t realize sports cards are a clear scam at this point I don’t know what to tell you … how can a printed paper Truly be rare ( It Can’t ) not with cards today … and I’ve sold cards hundreds of them don’t waste your money people
Comparing mid season debut player (they tried hard to put them by update back in the day) and highly touted no.1 prospect that debuted the previous year and has plenty of time to work on is unfair, but I get your point.
They have switched out thee monstrous print run mistake(s) that have been made in the past...And replaced it with shorter print runs.... but a monstrous amount of different product....it is that simple..
If you have any numbered card, you have a 1/1. If you have the 75 out of 500, there is no other card that has that 75 on it. That’s how ridiculous some of these 1/1 variations are.
You make a great point.... and I've heard of people chasing player's jersey #'s in the numbering sequence..with those holding more value. Also, I cannot imagine how much signed/autographed materiel is out there as well.
I know it's a different sport but Tom Brady has 3 1\1 rookie cards. None of which have ever publicly surfaced. 1\1 cards used to be special but that time has passed.
we're really in a new Junk Wax era. When everything is "scarce" then nothing is. It's even worse in basketball, where some of the big names in recent years (Zion, Ja, Cade, etc) have 2,000+ different rookie cards. Just walking around card shows these days and it's very obvious it's a new junk era, because every dealer has pretty much the same thing. Stacks and stacks of about 30-40 different players across all major sports, all with different colors and "limited" numbers. Five-ten years from now, nobody is going to care that your blue rookie card is worth $1k when you can get the exact same card, only in green, for $20.
I love Mookie but I feel like he is going to be a middle tier hall of famer at best. At 30 years old he has 213 hr (not getting to 500), 1306 hits (probably not getting 3000), and 56 WAR (probably not getting to 100). There are MANY all time great HOFers with 80-100 WAR who get very little love in the hobby because they never hit the major milestones like 3000 hits, 500hr, 3+ MVPs, or some crazy single season record. If Mookie misses 1 or 2 seasons due to injury or what not, his HOF chances would be greatly endangered vs a player like Kershaw who could get hit by a bus tomorrow and be a first ballot HOFer yet still has plenty of career left.
Lol been in this since it started. Numbered cards were hard to come by. The 1991 donruss elite was the first time I heard of a numbered card. The only one I can even remember seeing is a Ricky Henderson Legends sometime in the later 90s. Everything today is so watered down with inserts and autographs I cant understand how it's selling for what it is. Def feel like its junk era round 2.
I actually pulled a 2019 bowman platinum wander franco jumbo patch foilfractor 1/1 but I have no idea y I didn't sell it. The most anyone offered me though was 1500. So I was waiting til just the right time. Now, it's prob worthless
I am commented before I watch the video. One thing is how many "one of one" are out there for one particular player which may not sound very rare. I think the main thing to consider is that how many of them have already been pulled, I think that is what is going to make it rare, do you agree?
Even @ 211 1of1's, there still only 211 - 50 years from now, there will still be only 211 - the key will be (from a collector and or investor) is picking the right set and right photo,
Dear Scottie, I am looking to buy a some modern baseball cards..especially rookies.. Do You believe Bowman Chrome Prospects Auto, First Bowman Chrome is a desired Rookie Card for most players? Looking forward to your feedback. Thank You in advance,
I have a 2016 Optic Gold Vinyl of Trea Turner and a 2018 bowman chrome superfractor of Sandy Alcantara, both in BGS slabs. I think these years were still low on the 1 of 1's.
I really don't understand why everybody complains about this!?!?!"the overprinted base cards are for the average kid or non collector who just wants to be a part of things. I'd rather have the 15th 1/1 than ANY other NUMBERED card... It's how they keep things fresh, it's how they keep another "junk era" from happening!!!
In my opinion, and I understand this might not be a common opinion, the rookie card for each player should be their first card made by the manufacturer, and those cards limited variants. For example, if their first card that is available to the public is a Topps Series 1 in 2023 then that card is their Topps Rookie Card. No Stadium Club rookie or Heritage rookie unless these cards come out before Series 1. Same with Panini, etc. Those will be the only card allowed to have the RC stamp. The same Rookie Card rules apply. A player must have made their first MLB appearance before the card is issued. I wish they would just do a rookie-only set at the end of each year and that set includes anyone who debuted that preceding year and is outside of a regular set and that is the rookie card. Yes, these sets would be very sought after and skyrocket in price, especially last year's set but I think this would provide clarity to what the rookie card is. Then the other card sets can be used for other enticements such as autographs, relics, or whatever.
The sports card world is turning into the junk wax era all over again. Panini is the biggest problem, they just keep putting out more and more sets every year trying to please the masses (but also greed). They are going to end up crashing the market. Too many sets, getting too expensive, and "short prints" don't mean anything, if EVERY set essentially has the same/similar amount of "short prints". Over saturation ruins everything!
I know the guy who had/sold the box that had the Topps Wander 1/1... Lol... You can image he was sick about it LOL!!! And THAT is why you NEVER SELL YOUR WAX!!!
Amazing mookie Betts I pulled a Jamal Adam's rookie 1of1 got it graded and came back an 8. What aggravated the crap outta me is these cards are 1of1s the should be pristine not 6s-or9s GEM MINT PRISTINE it's the only card there making it should be flawless.
There’s a reason why some companies like Supreme are so successful… it’s not because they printed so many shirts 👕 that they watered down the rest of their products. I really wish Panini, Topps, MTG,etc. would understand the business aspect ( I mean they have to have economists working for them) . They only seem to care about in the moment but not the long term side effect, these cards will be worthless/,worth-less down the line.
Just got back into the hobby 6 months ago since 1990-1991. It appears that it's a new junk wax era to me. Simple math. If Panini is producing 30-40 different sets and each set has 20 numbered variations of each player. The numbered cards probably represent the of total printed cards of each player that should actually be produced.
It’s also the reason I’ve said on multiple occasions you can only succeed in cards if you’re a collector. Over time, you WILL go broke if you treat this like a business. Even Panini can’t keep their doors open. I mean they can…but barely.
Scottie! Have a content request. I’d like to see you do a video on players rookie card values once they hit the hall of fame. Maybe some graphs? BTW I love my billy butler Scottie b auto card 😊
awesome vid!! thank you for doing the work and validating my assumption, all this product n print is scary im not buying any real big ultra modern... congrats on that monster mookie and almost 19k subscribers! 💪🍻
As a collector who’s been in the hobby for 5 DECADES. I appreciate the 1/1 and just plain variety of cards there are today. My personal favorite player is Ken Stabler. He has 1 rookie. I think someone should tell Topps that 1/1 doesn't mean what you (Topps) thinks it means. Thanks Scottie B! Also, I do think think this is bad for the hobby, it discredits the 1/1 and confuses people coming into the hobby. That is a cool card by the way. Congrats!
To the collectors it’s broken. To the card manufacturer’s who collect dollar bills it’s fine. As long as people mindlessly eat up this crap and buy all these worthless packs and throw money away on breaks this 1/1 joke will continue. They have to provide hits for all these gambling addicts. Plain and simple really. It’s gambling under the laughable title of “collecting “.
Bro any cards released from rite now on are not even rookie cards. We are 2 months into 2023. They are 2nd yr cards at this point. To be a 2022 Rookie card means they must be made in 2022.
Can't tell you enough how much I love your content Scottie! I've been pretty much exclusively purchasing Bowman 1st auto and numbered cards. I think rookie cards are moving into a horrible path. ofoverprinting.
No offense but we already know this about cards there's a huge over printing. For future reference 1\1, autos, relics, or any other special card don't exist anymore its all about collecting what you like.
“The one of one” is now “a one of one”
This trend was also extremely noticeable in the signature archives products although they not RC
Fantastic video and wish each player didn’t have so many variations & 1 of 1 cards. Truly miss the days when player’s only had 4 true Rookie Cards.
So you’re a Billy Butler fan. I got over 80 1/1’s. Glad to see someone still appreciates a great hitter. Love your videos.
Congrats on the Mookie 1/1 pickup!
Tom Brady has 3 1\1 rookie cards. Back when 1\1 actually meant something.
I think it was Olave in XR where I saw 3 different 1/1s listed within a few days
A 1/1 is still a 1/1
If people want to see 15 1/1’s as 15/1. Then change hobbies cuz that’s whack.
That's what's crazy about people spending such big bucks on some of those football cards, they're saturating the market
Still 500 isnt that many man for those players and versions. Plus they are making these cards cooler and cooler IMO! Its all about those rookies hold onto them, everyone wants to sell right away amd they regret it later! Anything /49, /25, /10, /5, /1 are great to hold onto long term. Good research Scottie
Yeah this is like pulling a 1/1 and then finding a last sell on ebay like if there's only one then how are there sells.
Your research department needs a raise!
Makes me a little sad about the /10 auto I pulled of yordan Alvarez in topps holiday 2022😢 😂
"If everyone has a 1/1 does anyone have a 1/1"...glad I wasn't drinking when you said that, my mind would have exploded! :-p
211 cards of millions is a lot yes, but how many of those will be found and graded.
Just wait until 2022 Topps VIP Party comes out with their dozens upon dozens of 1 of 1 design variations.
Speaking of Topps Fire. I pulled a 1/1 JD Martinez from a $24 Blaster. Definitely pretty cool.
Julio had 7 1/1s in Bowman Transcendent alone!
Great insight for us Scott. Thanks!
Scottie B is this a legit message from you?
Wow. This is bad. Feels like early 90s all over again. Excess supply now to fill spike in demand thereby killing future demand and value through a glut in supply. Great video. More on this thread please...
Nice video Scott
Nice call on the Mookie!
Go to Beckett, click a player and a certain year, and it'll give you Serial #d, Auto, RC, Insert, etc.
I only collect 1/1’s …. I own 1,453 1/1’s for whatever that is worth
Great video man! I bet this video took awhile lol
I don’t know how some cards maintain high value when they have no scarcity. ie: Mike Trout 2011 topps update, Ken Griffey Jr. 89 UD.
Dang it it was a setup for a Mookie betts pump and flex got me 😅
An abundant of 1/1’s substantially diminishes the players cards. And Wander Franco could not live up to his expectations. His cards could be worth very little in the future. Time will tell.
The 2019 bowman platinum 1/1 I pulled was something like 1:450,000 packs
Congrats Scottie on your Mookie 1/1
1/1 should not have parallels...
Hey Scottie B, do you have the estimated print runs of Topps Chrome baseball for.the past 10 years?
They need to really dial back the print runs and different sets they are putting out. The market is flooded.
If there are 1000 1/1s, you'd still rather have those than any other card for that player in the series.
These companies know what collectors want. If more people can get a 1/1, then the average collector will buy more, believing he has good luck.
I buy 1970's vintage all sports. Only put together heritage and topps base cubs team sets for modern.
Damn so how much value does my wander Franco Topps pristine superfractor 1 of 1 hold?
Same as the other 500 of them
Thanks for doing all that research and figuring out the total. I knew there was alot of em cos i see em on ebay daily an I know i have a shit load of his base rc, too many!My first 1/1 is a wander 2020 leaf orange speckle,. Thanks and have a great day
Hello, i was informed to contact you
If you include Panini with Wander Franco rookies, there are 6,500 Wander Franco 1/1’s.
Will Printing Plates ever catch on?!?!
Thank you for this video this is the research that 99.99% of the people can’t do! Keep up the great work Scottie
A scam I guess?
The mainstay 1/1s of the classic sets will always be monsters. It doesn’t matter. It’s extremely healthy for the hobby to have affordable 1/1s for collectors who aren’t millionaires

Manufacturered rarity to justify inflated box prices....
@user-xf1oj2zl1o I'm sure scottieb isn't part of your scam....
What’s the 17 1/1’s in Topps Series 1???
Is Wander Franco still heavily chased? It’s almost like everyone forgot him and are all going for jrod.
Just received the Christmas giveaway thing. Maybe the coolest guy ever to do this thank you sooo much
Well done video
I know it's a different sport but Tom Brady has 3 1\1 rookie cards. None of which have ever publicly surfaced. 1\1 cards used to be special but that time has passed.

In today's world with all the printing technology we have..it makes zero sense to spend a fortune for a piece of cardboard.

In reality, every serial numbered card is unique. Otherwise considered a 1 of 1 as no two are the same.
Even @ 211 1of1's, there still only 211 - 50 years from now, there will still be only 211 - the key will be (from a collector and or investor) is picking the right set and right photo,
Watered down 1/1 cards 😂😂😂
The hobby is willingly killing itself for the almighty dollar on the supply end
What about Jrod 1/1s

I’ve been warning about this for the longest time.
i have a 2022 topps stadium club beam tean trout 1/1 i thick its worth about 2 grand whats your thoughts
We have ended the next Junk era unfortunately. Junk Wax 2.0? Junk Parallel Era?
Dope video
I do not buy modern cards the market can't hold way too much printing.
I have the 2019 topps fire inferno of Fernando tatis jr. It's a sweet card.
Tremendous research and congrats on that Mookie 1/1!!

Many more sets and demand. Make sense
awesome vid!! thank you for doing the work and validating my assumption, all this product n print is scary im not buying any real big ultra modern... congrats on that monster mookie and almost 19k subscribers! 💪🍻
You being such a numbers guy, I'm surprised you say the "and"... "Two hundred AND 11"... I bet your dad HATES it lol
The pandemic brought on the junk wax era part 2. Everything from this era will be worth far less in the long run
I said this years ago....
Junk wax era part 2
All new sports cards are broken. It's 1992 all over again
As a collector who’s been in the hobby for 5 DECADES. I appreciate the 1/1 and just plain variety of cards there are today. My personal favorite player is Ken Stabler. He has 1 rookie. I can find tickets and other memorabilia but only one rookie card. I have over 50 raw and graded. I started collecting CeeDee Lamb and I don’t see an end in sight in my Lifetime. I kinda like that…🤷♂️
what does "canary" mean when you're talking about "canary 1/1"? I don't see a distinction between the canaries you were pointing at, and the base cards. Just curious. This is a great topic I hadn't thought about. Very surprising results.
I think someone should tell Topps that 1/1 doesn't mean what you (Topps) thinks it means. Thanks Scottie B! Also, I do think think this is bad for the hobby, it discredits the 1/1 and confuses people coming into the hobby. That is a cool card by the way. Congrats!
I had a 1/1 Topps 2020 St Louis Cardinals card . Even had it graded. Nobody wanted it, so sold it for 50.00 lmao 🤣
Awesome video. Very interesting content and 1/1 is getting ridiculous.
To the collectors it’s broken. To the card manufacturer’s who collect dollar bills it’s fine. It was Donruss (before they became Panini) who originally destroyed the mystique of the 1 of 1 some time way back in the early 2000’s.
Can't tell you enough how much I love your content Scottie! I've been pretty much exclusively purchasing Bowman 1st auto and numbered cards. I think rookie cards are moving into a horrible path. ofoverprinting.

It's good to have Special Agent Scotty B on the scene to illuminate the LOWDOWN! Gratzi bud!
Leaving the topps now set out leaves out around another 150 1/1s
