@@rizzoli7 I got a 1410 on my SAT. I am rank 1/132 for my class. Since you're a sophomore I would advise you to really practice for these standardized tests. Stats definitely don't mean everything though. I feel like my essays and extra curriculars really portrayed my passions and who I am as a person so I think that's what helped me the most. Once you get closer to applying to these schools, just make sure you are very satisfied with your writing and have someone look over them.
I loved the part where you really went in depth explaining your classes. What you described sounds so amazing... I’m looking to study English and Philosophy (perhaps creative writing) and this totally helped me out! Columbia is my dream school and I’ll probably apply ED next year! Sherleen tries When people say class of 2023 or 2020+, it means what year they’re graduating college. A sophomore is a person in their second year of school.

i'm applying to columbia in a few months (wow that's scary) and i noticed from a lot of students that bc of columbia's proximity to NYC, they often go out to eat... that's really amazing and and exciting since i'm also a foodie, but the question is how much typically are these expenses? living in NYC is def not cheap right?
Columbia looks great! though I prefer Brown bc of the open curriculum and the less stressful atmosphere tbh. I’m also a bit intimidated by the admissions rates, it’s great for my major (history) but I’m not sure if I should apply, On the one hand you’re in the city with a ton more opportunities than someplace like providence, but on the other hand the environment at places like Columbia and Harvard seems a lot more cutthroat and high strung than brown. I’m conflicted tbh, would love to hear more about your experiences at Columbia though! This video definitely made me think about applying next year!
Hey! Brown is also an awesome school. At the end of the day, it all depends on what you prefer. Columbia is quite competitive, and some people thrive in that environment. Others prefer a more laid-back education. They are both equally great!

My dream school is Columbia but I don’t know if I’ll get in. I am a junior and will graduate with an honors diploma in 2020, but I am taking 10 credit hours from The Ohio State University right now, have taken 9 at a community college, and will graduate with a minimum of 30 college credits. My school does bot have AP but I take college classes as if I am a normal college Student and have been ever since I was 15. I will graduate at 17 because I skipped 1st grade, and have a 4.0 unweighted and a 4.13 weighted GPA right now (school calculates weird even though I have 9 fully completed college credits) but it will be much higher when I actually graduate. My ACT score is kinda low (only a 31) and I haven’t taken the SAT and don’t plan to. I have a bunch of extra curriculars: debate(team leader), photography(founder/president) yearbook (chief editor), japanese culture club(secretary, not japanese btw but was lending my support and supporting the club!), creative writing club, creative collective (a inclusive art club, founder and president). I know columbia is suuuper competitive but I have been in a college like environment so I can handle it. Do you think I might be able to get in? I will most likely be applying through Questbridge and I am aiming for admissions and hopefully a National College Match Scholarship. Sadly my writing skills aren’t the best but they aren’t the worst either, and I would like to major in psychology.

I’m in suburban neighborhood a little bit outside the Dallas Fort Worth area. This is my dream college and Manhattan is where I want to live when I’m older. What’s it like moving to the big city? Any tips for adapting to NYC life?
New York can be overwhelming but also lively! It is an amazing city but takes time for the transition. At Columbia, you can be in downtown Manhattan in 30 minutes. It is super convenient, but it can also be a distraction. Finding the balance is important. I can't say I have successfully made my transition to NYC yet hahaha. I'm also figuring it out right now. Hope this helps! I will probably make more videos of my life at NYC. Stay tuned!

Does anyone know Columbia international relations programs and how that will transfer to “real world” jobs? I’m hoping to major in international relations/business and somehow get a job working as the liaison for business for vouge. Okay I realized this is a lot for one comment. Anyways. Loved the video.

Hello, I have an important and concrete question. I would generally consider my English not to be very bad. I study the language and have been studying at a boarding school for a certain time. Now I have to say that when I examine your language skills, I see that you think in the language, have totally taken it and subconsciously use it. I would love to get to that point. My English meets the standards of C1 with a tendency towards C2. To gain more fluidity and confidence with the language I would very much like to ask for your advice. Perhaps you can reflect on what has helped you and help you to use English at the level of speaking and writing. Thank you very much, I appreciate it.

I did a project on Columbia University! It's a huge campus!
It's actually not that big. It's small compared to other US universities, mainly because it's in Manhattan.
