First memories of fishing out of a boat were in my grandfather's early 90s Pantera 2. Also snuck my first drink of bush on the deck while he was cleaning it out of at the end of the day. Even at 8 years old I knew it was a quality boat. 👌
First boat was a 93 BassCat PII, I now have a 2013 Pantera IV. My whole family has had Cats since the early 90s. PII, PIV, Cougar, Eyra, Puma...... we have them all
Texas. I LOVE the "IN-YOUR-FACE-NO-BS" calling both "BALLS-N-STRIKES" opinions and commentaries, Andy. Your "REAL dude" presentation of the products you spotlight are both ENTERTAINING and INSTRUCTIVE. I've learned a lot from your channel. In a nutshell, having someone like you break down 20 or 30 years of boating experience and allow someone like me, a novice, to gain some EXPERT advice is PRICELESS! I feel like I'm standing on the shoulders of a giant and getting to see the really good and important stuff as I endeavor to make informed decisions in this field of interest. Thank You.
My best friend has a bass cat cougar and has had it for over 20 years. To this day we both fish out of it on lake fork here in Texas and to be honest with you it looks just as good today. He’s had very few problems with the mercury OptiMaxx 200 hp. We’ve done everything from bass fish to duckhunting out of that boat. I would not say it is screaming fast but the ride it is as good as any boat I’ve been in. The people at bass cat know how to really put a boat together.
Been watching you for a while now, I started because you were working on that old Champion, I was a Champ Guy. Alas they are no longer with us so I am on my 2nd Bass Cat Pantera II !!. Damn do I wish I had a place for a Cougar Hybrid!!! You Rock!
Our first ever fishing, “family” boat was a 1984 Bass Cat Pantera. Both Bass Cat and Champions have a special place in my heart here in St.Louis, Missouri!
South Central, VA started watching the rebuild and have stuck around because of all the information you and the team bring to the table. You guys have been awesome with all your knowledge you share!
Andy, I owned a Cougar from that era & it was a wonderful boat, quality built, one of the fastest Bass boats on the market. I liked it so much I bought another BassCat (Eyra) & I don't even have a dealer in Pa ( drove south of the Mason Dixon line )to get them!!
NEW ROADS LOUISIANA , I LOVE BOATS ALOT AND BASS FISHING . I ENJOY THIS CHANNEL IT GIVES ME MORE KNOWLEDGE BECAUSE OF YOU GUYS AND REALLY IT JUST FEELS LIKE A FAMILY ! WE CAN TALK EVERYTHING BOAT \ BASS FISHING AND I JUST LOVE IT
Austin Texas, started watching while researching to buy a used bass boat. Just got a 1999 Ranger 518vx, tandem axle trailer, 200hp opti all same year with a helix7,hook5 and a fortrex. Three new trolling batteries, new fuel water separator, filter, fuel pump, plugs ,wires, impeller, lower unit reseal and all fluids. Got it cheap from a very reputable shop that does consignment.
SW Iowa checking in. I'm looking to buy a bass boat and stumbled across this channel. It's helped me decide what I want for a boat and what to stay away from both boat and engine. Now I'm hooked on the channel. Lots of information and fucking hilarious!
Jeff from Montfort, WI. I just enjoy seeing all the entertaining videos on you tube and posts on Facebook. Thanks to you all at Team Marine for this and your great service. Remember "No Brakes".
Northern Michigan, you had me hooked after the Gambler factory video! I have two, a 1988 and 2003 Intimidator, I love them. I really enjoy your videos, keep it up!
Northwest suburbs of Chicago. Just love the information and background history on all types of boats and motors. Very entertaining on top of that! Keep up the great content.
Oklahoma side of the Oklahoma/Texas boarder. Love the mix of humor, personality and knowledge. Back in the day I had my next boat narrowed down to a used 95 basscat or a new javelin. Went new and regretted it ever since. Still running the javelin but not because I like it, life got in the way....
Eastern Nebraska. I watch because you know your stuff. Highly value your thoughts on boats and will 100% be using the info you share in the search for my next boat.
Thanks for the shot out to us South Africans. We are a bass crazy nation and until recently (if not still) the actual world champions as a team. Based in Cape Town, South Africa and Secretary for SABAA (South African Bass Angling Assocation) Western Cape Branch affiliated to B.A.S.S. So yes we have a qualification route from South Africa via our National Champs to fish in the US to ultimately qualify for a Bassmaster Classic birth. Love this channel to bits due to you calling it like it is! Keep up the good work. And come visit us some time. We have different spawn time (around Sep) so you can have 2 spawns in one year!
Stationed in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Love the channel, informative, honest and entertaining. You give an open and honest review on boats and products providing viewers valuable information to make informed decisions.
Northeast Wisconsin, have always had an interest in bass boats. Watch because you are really entertaining yet informative Own a 31 year old Ranger 375 that's been well taken care of. Have thought about buying something newer but too sentimentally attached to the old girl. .
Tampa Fl I started watching your Ranger reviews which your not high on the new ones. I own a 2021 520L which I have owned for a year and use it every weekend have 90 hours on it and have had one issue which was second time I used it the key pad switch went out. Besides that I’ve lived the boat fishes great. I like watching you because your honest! Keep it up
Had a 99 Cougar for years and I would put the ride on that boat up against any other bass hull ever built including a mt home 202. Don't know what it was, but it was something special and noticeably better than the couple of newer cougar/pumas I've been in.
Crivitz, WI.. Would be great to see a Blast from the Past vid on an old Skeeter Starfire 175. It was my first bass boat and we made great memories in that rig.
Southwest Louisiana. Love the honest reviews and I also love the personalities on the channel. Also love suzuki and I want one but the local dealer hasn't been able to get them in the last year.
Arkansas, i need a re-power for my 01 x21 my opti-pop popped, I asked the know all facey page and asked if I should try and find a different boat or re-power and everyone said re-power and a lot of people said look for a Suzuki so I started researching and come across y’all’s page. So now I’m about to get me a new 250 ss.
I’m from Lower Burrell, PA. Outside Pittsburgh. Bought my first boat three years ago and I was always looking for information/knowledge about boats in general and you by far offer the most insight about all things boat related. I have 17ft Lowe Skorpion with a Tohatsu 20HP on it. Can you do some type of review on Tohatsu someday?
I live just near West Salem but moved here from south of Madison. After getting ripped off from 2 Dealer/shops in the area I found you guys. Some locals said stay away but I brought my boat there last summer and could not have been treated any better. Figure a shop exposing themselves on UA-cam and Social Media has to care about their reputation and I was right. (other than a prop I ordered I never heard anything about) but it was gonna be a spare anyways. Keep up the great work and Blast From The Past. Mid 90s Champion (had one so I am biased 😉)
My problem with the basscats is the forward trolling motor pedal all the way forward on the bow. I almost bought one, but chose a phoenix instead for that reason.
@@stevemolina8801 I'm sure you would get used to it. And it has its benefits when it comes to flipping and pitching. But I think it would be sketchy out on erie or any rough water.
Hemet, California!! BassCat is definitely one of the best built boats in the industry. You can not go wrong with getting one. Can you find a 90's model Ranger 381-V. It was the first shallow-gunwale bass boat I ever saw.

Can you possibly do a video on re-powering 90’s Bass boats with a new 4 stroke. For instance, I have a 1998 Hawk Super 1800 by John Storie. Love the boat and would like to repower. My issue is that it is rated for a 200hp but in 1998 200hp 2strokes we’re around 430lbs. Can my transom handle the new 200’s or should I put a 150 on it since they are quite a bit lighter? Thanks!
Gary. Michigan… you seem a bit out of control & crazy & that’s my style… really like your real & honest reviews on bass boats …. Keep up the great job & I will keep watching..
Well I live 2 hours south of you. Watching because I’m wanting to buy my first bass boat just trying to figure out what I should get. I’d like to get something around 18 to 20 feet at a decent price.
