I like the way Hayley repeats the word 'simmer' until it sounds like the word 'mercy': "simmer simmer simmersi mmersi mmersi mmersi". This echos the main line of the chorus "how to draw the line between wrath and mercy?" Wrath that burns (from which you have to simmer down) and mercy. She says simmer over and over so you can't draw the line between them. I think that's ace. And, like you, this song was a grower for me too, but I do love it now.
I felt the same of the slower 2nd verse and bridge until I heard the lyrics and it made sense to me, they sound very vulnerable to me. Love your channel!
Punkkid_Fitness yeah I def want to take many more listens, I always have a hard time hearing lyrics haha And thank you for checking out the video and channel! ^__^
I loved old sounds of paramore and i love Hayley again, dark Hayley of course. Perfect bass, drums, the bridge voices in the background. Chorus is so viby. BTW - you have beautiful eyes :D
I love the song and your reaction! Honestly this kind of Radiohead-ish vibe is exactly what I was hoping for with Hayley's solo material. Also I just subscribed and checked out some of your other videos. You've got a cool channel and a great voice!
Jaye Kaze you mean decode? Yeah just a little different but still familiar I get that. Honestly the two songs they did for twilight are some of my fave paramore songs :P
Loved the fact that you didn’t stop the video and let the creation finish. The song should actually be titled, “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy”. Her beliefs and faith are clear in this song, while she also states that a part of her would gut a man that harms a child. I can also relate here. Hayley shows us a more deeper sense of who she is now, compared to who she was. This is made clear at the end where we see her lying on the floor. That person is gone and we see the changling version of her looking at us at the end. Myself being a professional musician, went through this same metamorphosis at the age of 30. I think we can look forward to a whole new style from her. Exciting ❤️
that's so insightful, thanks for sharing! definitely can't wait for more, I think Leave It Alone was a beautiful video too! wasn't as into the song as much as I was with Simmer though...
This is my second time listening to Simmer and watching the video and I definitely like it better now than the first time. I still miss her style of singing in Paramore though.
@@SincerelyHannah this music simmer reminds me a lot of Silversun Pickups music with the fast beat drums and the darkness. It sounds amazing don't you think??

I didn't even catch that! That's a really cool observation! I like it adds so much depth.
Finally. Someone who doesn't pause the freaking video every 2 seconds just to overreact. Great video. Really enjoyed it
Bipolar Bear lol! Thank you!
Can I love this enough times? NO I can't ♥️
"She's like running naked through the woods, I'm into it" - Saaammmeeeeeee

She is angry. The first word is RAGE. . and she sings about "giving in" to wrath or mercy. She decided to simmer.

The song without the video lost all sense...Good song, nothing less and nothing more
that's fair. I really enjoyed the song itself personally!
