Significance vs. Effect Size for One Way using SPSS is a new concept for me. I watched this video twice, and both times it brought more clarification on the process. I can appreciate the visuals as they assist with an awesome way of learning, while at the same time receiving voice direction.
Very interesting video! I have heard of significance level, p-values, and cohen's d, however, I have never heard of eta squared. Additionally, while I knew there was a difference, I was previously unaware of what that difference was between effects size and significance level. This was a very thoroughly explained video and helped me to recognize the difference between the two.
Dr. Grande, thank you for the video. This video was helpful in allowing me to get insight on how to recognize effect size and significance levels and knowing the differences between the two. I find this significant when utilizing P-values in my groups research paper.
Thank you for sharing this instructional video. It felt good to know a little more this week about what you are talking about in the video through taking the class. When you talked about the ANOVA being .05 and the significance being less that that figure it clicked a little more. Many times it feels overwhelming so small victories of understanding are a delight.
this video was helpful in helping understand how significance is different from effect size and how looking at the two can determine the true findings in research. I learned that just because findings may reject the null hypothesis, it does not make the findings significant.
I have 1 question please. How do we predict practical significance? Is it effect size that indicates practical significance or some thing else? Also, what is difference between statistical and practical significance? Thanks for such an excellent and simplest explanation of both concepts.
Dr. Grande. When I run a one way anova in SPSS, I see four different EFFECT SIZE calculations. I know the hand calculations for the ETA squared, EPSILON squared and the OMEGA squared FIXED calculation. I don't know the hand calculation for the OMEGA SQUARED RANDOM calculation. Can you provide the Algebraic formula please? Thank you.
Thank you for this video, Dr Grande. My question, if I want to report the effect size in a table, what are the information that is needed eg do I need to include the value for corrected model, intercept, etc?
Thank you Dr Todd. you have really helped me grasped these concepts in your videos. I would like to cite you in my PHD write-up. Do you have published material on this video that I may cite please? Many thanks!
Dear Dr. Todd Grande Your videos are really helpful. But something that is really missing to makes your videos perfect is about the dataset. People will not completely learned the methodology until they do the analysis by their own. So, it is crucial for them to have access to the datasets you used in your videos.

This video clarified that significance and effect are used depending on data you are analyzing.
Was watching your jodi arias video in the morning and now I’m watching this video to study for a test lol

It was helpful to show in excel the steps to compute partial eta squared.

hello i have found my SE with Eta Square ,685 is it goood ?
Thanks:)
