Great tutorial Diane & a great showcase for your straps, between the rivets & the straps it just goes to show how even the simplest of bags can be lifted to having the professional finish we all want to achieve.
Thank you for your fabulous tutorial.. Such a sweet colour bag. Makes it so beautiful to look at. Very nice. Learned a lot from your video. God bless you.
Loved your Tutorial, glad I found it. Janice San Antonio TX. I lived in England in the 80s and learn to use a knitting machine while living there. Love these crafts.
Fantastic and informative tutorial Diane on rivets and using a rivet hand press. Plus such a quick, easy and stylish tote. Your hardware is top quality and gorgeous. Another winner. Keep these videos coming 💖💖💖
Excellent tutorial on making a simple cross body/tote bag including brilliant instructions on how to insert rivets using a rivet press. Thank you so much for sharing Diane, looking forward to watching more of your excellent tutorials!
OMGosh I thought I was the only person that uses curtain fabric when making my bags. I've just finished a bag for a customer and I used a very pale grey blockout curtain remnant for the gusset.
@@SpencerOgg Umm, I can't help you there as i am in Adelaide, Australia, but the curtain fabric was originally purchased from Spotlight a store I'm assuming is similar to America's Joannes.
I have that exact same press and have been afraid of it. I bought it on ebay and it has zero original packaging and not instructions. So with was awesome. Thank you so much and I love the idea of ease of this bag.
Hi Diane, great quick bag. That blackout fabric does come in many other colors, well in the U.S. like at fabric.com. It's also great as an art medium because it takes well to various kinds of paints.
Oh how delightfully Riveting ❣️❣️ thank you for sharing, easypeasy ✨✨ don’t we need a little pocket inside though so your keys don’t get lost in the bottom 😁 love it though 💖❣️ box bottoms are the greatest 👍🏻😊😍 PS BTW the white on the lining is wonderful to be able to see down to the bottom❣️ I think I need LED LIGHTS in my bag bottoms 🤓
Great video Diane, thanks so much ... beautiful simple bag, who would know, and actually seeing those rivets being applied is most encouraging and inspiring!
Diane, thank you. A really simple style bag that looks great! I love the leather like handles. I bought one of your patterns and sew on handles. I haven't had the time to construct it yet but this makes everything clear to me.
Hi Diane, love your tutorials, you make everything easy to understand. Can you please tell me which riveter model you bought and what dies please. I’d be using it for bags and hopefully jeans 😬👍🏻
The links to my rivet press are in the text under the video Bev, you choose to purchase with the dies and the size of die I use 8 and 9mm cap most in bag making. xx
Thank you Diane! Your bags always look store bought, I love them :) I have made a lot of bags but none with rivets, how weird is that??? I so want to make a bag with the handles and rivets you use. It's just so classy!! Thanks again for another awesome tutorial. Very nice bag :)

I have been making tote bags (with 4" box bottoms) for a couple years now and I must say, your way is so much easier!! Where can I see how to insert pockets both inside and outside of this bag? College and school students love pockets. I also embroider school and sport and college logos on the front pockets. I make straps out of the canvas fabric that the bags are made of, but your leather looks so great. I will try this very soon! Thanks so very much.
Check out my web site for my full sewing patterns, they all come 'fully pocket loaded', this is just a simple taster to get you started really.👍🏻😊 www.spencerogg.com
I absolutely love your presentation, Spencer! Regarding the handle strap rivets: Have you ever used leather washers on the interior to reduce stress on the fabric?
Holy cow!! I love these bags! I just made the smaller one. It was so fun and fast! May I ask what the measurements are to cut on the bigger one? I want to do that one, too. Thank you so much!
You can make them any size - for example just add 2" to width of lining and outer to make it wider or a couple of inches to width and length - as long as you add the same amount to lining and outer it will work fine Dana.
This was a polyester backed tweed so had a bit of substance to it. I purchased at a clearance store so I don't have any actual details of who makes it I'm afraid. Anything firm such as canvas would work fine
I LOVE your channel. Your sewing methods are different than I’ve heard before and I really like them! I got the rivet setter ;you recommended and I love the way it installs single cap rivets but I can’t find the die set to do double cap rivets that is guaranteed to work with this machine. very nice!I never tried making a bag, and started up sewing again but never seemed those clips used for sewing. I have them actually used them for making felt flowers, but how do you sew a seam under the machine with them holding the fabric? thanks.
That's fab many thanks for the reply. I will give Dunelm a try. I've ordered some woven interfacing from Crackers fabrics last week just waiting for it to arrive.
Hi! How are you? I want to make a tote bag or even this bag you have made for my daughter for college to hold all her college stuff in. How would you make this to fit a A1 folder and another bag for a A 3 folder with a good size bottom (box corners) to hold multiple objects eg books, rulers etc....I’m new to sewing on sewing machine as I recently made face masks and I was told I’ve done a great job considering it’s my first time...now I want to tackle new projects and one is to make a bag for my daughter....could you help me with the measurements or if you can make a video as I think many college students will benefit from your awesome videos...thank you in advanced
No this is a much more simplified bag. The Harris Tote has true facings, inside structure and pockets, this is really just to get you started on your bag making journey 😀
Ok, thank you. Do you have a video for it? I made this bag a little bigger and added a inner zipper pocket as well as lined it with SF101 & Decovil, but I'm at a stand still as to how I want to add some handles. I'm really happy with how it came out though!

Would like one used by someone like yourself who has given them a good test as don't really trust online reviews where sold any more.
