Made a short list of items I would like to see on the next version of CG50: Show the derivative in X or Y solver, not just in trace in the graph mode. Provide dy/dx solver in graphing app so that x/y value can be found for a given gradient... and also for a given second derivative. Provide a gsolve option to identify points of inflections in the graph. And even identify concave and convex areas in different colour. Allow parametric equation solve features just like normal cartesian graph gsolve features as none of the g solve soft keys work at the moment when it comes to parametrically defined curves. Allow us to do everything including finding areas. Please move the radian degrees item to first on the list of settings as we have to frequently switch between degrees or radians and it requires too many key strokes. We can find the tangent/normal to a graph using sketch option but the equation of the tangent/normal cannot be pasted into the graphing app as a curve. If we could than it would be easier to find where the normal/tangent intersects other key points. Please allow us to adjust the font size. The bottom keys of the CG50 have been shaven off at an angle compared to the Classwiz 991EX. The height of the area we press is less. This makes key presses less comfortable than classwiz 991EX. Please could you restore full size. Allow recurring decimals option where we can enter and convert between recurring decimals and other formats. Allow us to find prime factors of a number, as other less advanced Casio's do. Allow calculations of volumes of revolution, and 3D depiction of volumes of revolutions. Conics app is isolated from graph app and is really not that useful... we need to be able to plot tangents or other curves with the circles to find intersections with the circle etc. Importantly, please could you allow us to define a cartesian graphs IMPLICITLY... the grapher becomes useless when an equation is implicitly defines. Other calculators are able to show implicit graphs. This allow circles to be plotted easily without a separate conics app. The new distribution app is almost useless in an exam conditions or computations setting. This is because it lacks all the features for calculating but visually shows the distribution (useful), which means you need to be in the stats app for calculations. So to make the ability to see the distribution accessible, I would like the option to visually see my distributions where I am doing my calculations (stats ap) and not have an isolated distribution app to go to. Please integrate the distribution ap features in the stats app. Infact, the z distribution shows in the stats ap. Please integrate the distributions app this way. When we get an answer for a probability in the stats ap, please allow us to copy / store in a variable like x/ANS so we can move to main and use that value for the probability in a calculation... often we have to remember a string of digits to copy. Transformation of 3D images in geometry app will be very useful. Please allow us to copy the ANSWERS from intermediate calculations in main rather then just the calculations line... this is a really annoying omission from the calculator. Also sometimes calculations line that used ANS in the calculation does not contain the answer from the part before if further calculations were executed...a software method to detect this would be nice where it takes the answer from the line before. Enable Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient calculations in the stats ap. Allow access to all Statistical Table of values (eg. Critical values) for all types of distribution such as for critical values for Hypothesis testing for zero correlation of bivariate data - PMCC values vs significance level and sample size. Allow us to access stats data as we still have to use a book to access these stats data, it should be in CG50, if it has a periodic table it should have this. Allow the stats app to perform Hypothesis testing for different distributions by taking all the required parameters (like numworks calculator does). Allow Negative binomial distribution function in the statistics aps. Recursion web graph does not start at the table start, please fix this. List commands have to be executed in main rather that in the stats app making it difficult for use. Again, please bring the ANS key to CG50 like the classwiz. Square root should also ideally be a direct key and not a shift operation. When we select a function operation using soft keys in main and it appears on the screen, knowing the syntax is often a problem, find a way to quickly view the syntax of the operation. Some of the vector operations and vector input are in different locations, bring them in a coherent place. Provide decametres and decimetres for length conversion. A dark mode option.

What is benefit of getting a calculator now, if i don't have to sit in exam where it is permitted? for normal use, smartphone should be enough, won't it?
+Nitin Kumar I would tend to agree. If you are not permitted this calculator in the exam you are studying for and you are not interested in having a dedicated device, then yes, I would say smart phone apps are sufficient. You must remember though that others may wish to become familiar with the CG50 ready for the exam and may which to use a device which contains a range of efficient, dedicated functions. If you were taking a photography course and wanted to develop your skills and produce great images, would you only use your smartphone camera and apps. You can take some great pictures with your phone camera, but you still may be tempted to get a DLR camera for the best results. It's an interesting question. I may do a video on this.
1) Normal keyboard. Glass keys are crap. I never want touchscreen keyboard for my desktop computer, same for calculator. If u type something, u should have real keyboard. 2) It is available just after turning on and dedicated for calculation/math stuff. It is not "application" which u should find and lunch it is physical calculator itself. Perhaps u don't like rubber girls, probably u'd prefer real girls ? :-) 3) Generally it has more autonomous working time than smartphone. Unfortunately it is not correct for new lcd color models, but i am sure my smartphone can't stand for 160 hours of work. For some calculators like DM-42 from SwissMicros worktime can achieve few months from two watch batteries (they use ultralow consumption line of microcontrollers STM32L4 and tranflective ultralow power screen almost e-ink). And what the hell does "NORMAL USE" mean ? Good question. They appear very similar, but I have only seen the 90+ E in French, but if that’s okay for you then I don’t think there’s much in it. Perhaps others can comment.
I am an A2 student (exam board OCR), and find it hard sometimes to visualize graphs. Would this, in your opinion, be any sort of help for me? Thank you.
I can’t say for certain how useful you would find it. It may help as, of course, you can produce and explore graphs of function which you cannot on a scientific calculator.
I use 1.2V min.750 mAh Panasonic Eneloop. They last a manageable amount of time. I rotate a set of 8 (4 + 4) so there are always charged batteries, but yes I appreciate it can be annoying if need to change them in the middle of doing something.
@@melvinfernandes4352 It would entirely depend how much you use your calculator. I haven't measured myself. My most recent calculators are still going with there first charge. In my Apple Mouse and Keyboard they last about 2-3 Months of regular use. Since I put one in my fx-83GT Plus it hasn't run out, but the keys are waring out first, although that is a scientific. I find they work well. The CG50 manual suggests about 100 hours VS 170 for Alkaline. This is based on there recommended NiMH batteries listed here. *AAA-size nickel-metal hydride batteries:* Duracell rechargeable Energizer rechargeable Panasonic eneloop (SANYO eneloop)

The specs listed on Casios website are identical to the old classpad (400) with exception to 3 categories, something called STAT Test, Confidence Interval, and battery life / battery count. On the older 400, STAT Test is 10, Confidence Interval is 6, and battery life / battery count is 140 hours with 3 x AAA batteries. On the newer 500, the STAT Test is 11, Confidence Interval is 8, and battery life / battery count is 100 hours with 4 x AAA batteries. fx-CP400 (Classpad II) specs - casioeducation.com/products/calculators/graphing/classpad-fx-cp400 fx-CG500 Prizm specs - casioeducation.com/products/calculators/graphing/fx-cg500 I have the 400, waiting on the 500 to get here as this just became available in the states (I picked up the 500 on ebay new for $110 plus $5 shipping) so I cant actually speak to the differences between the two, but I can speculate on 1 significant change. The fact that the 500 requires an additional battery versus the 400 and yet still gets 1/3 less battery life than the 400, despite the need for the additional battery indicates to me that the processor speed has received a significant bump. This is a welcome change as the 400 is severely under powered. Just scrolling through the main menu is jittery on the 400, let alone the amount of time to perform some of the more complicated graphs is slow (in fact, the 400 is the slowest of the 3 "top' graphing calculators - the 400, the HP Prime (Wireless) and the TI-Nspire CX CAS). (I own the 400, Prime, and Nspire, plus the HP50g and the TI-Voyage 200). If I had to guess, Casio underspecd all the newer calculators that they released when the 400 came out, they realized it and decided to do a refresh with a slight processor speed bump and will probably phase out the previous gen. It is a bit bizarre that they dont really list what the actual changes are aside from the differences I listed in the first paragraph... As to my thoughts on the 400, it is a neat calculator for exploring. I dont find it particularly useful for getting class work done (physics and engineering) - in other words, if I already have the terms of the problem and I am just inputting figures to get a result, but it is useful for situations where I am trying to figure out how to quantify what the problem is in terms of, well, terms (variables and numbers) because of its large screen. I can put in figures, run a graph and easily see and tap around to figure out whether my graph appears to be what it should be. The 400 is also very good for geometry, the best of the three "top" calculators. The inevitable question I always get is, which is best. They all are strong in one area or another so I will give the short answer, the TI-Nspire CX CAS is best for school, provided they let you use the CAS model, if not, go with the non-CAS model. In the real world, the Prime is very useful but has an extremely steep learning curve and must be constantly charged as the battery will drain even with the power off (it needs to be charged weekly at a minimum, regardless of usage - dont use it for a week and the battery is dead). However, my preference is still the HP 50g, provided I dont need to graphically represent integrals or differentials due to its black and white display limitations (this is the benefit of a colour display). By the way, RPN on the 50g is the least of my concerns, dont get me wrong, I like it, but its not a big selling point or deal breaker for me. I use all 5 of my calculators for different reasons.
For the fx-CG500, they also removed the "typewriter" software keyboard layouts (QWERTY, QWERTZ, and AZERTY), so now it only supports the alphabetical (ABC) layout. This was done to comply with US exam board regulations.
The Calculator Guide thanks. When I plot a quadratic graph, it draws it with a dotted line even when the style shows as a solid line. How do I fix this?
@@EwanGamingnintendoclubcoukNot sure. If you don't mind resetting all your settings, you could try a reset of your setup data. Menu, System, F5, F1, F1, Exit and then try. Bear in mind, this will reset all you menu settings.
The CG50 is very different. Some of the features are within menus rather than via buttons. Some of the more basic functions will be the same. I am hoping to do a bit more with the CG 50 soon, but I've got my hands full with the Classwiz so far.
"DERIVATIVE" not "differential". Differential is the adjective, e.g. Differential Geometry. Derivative is the noun, e.g. the third derivative. (To) Differentiate is the verb, e.g. When I differentiate x^2 w.r.t. x, I get 2x.
You're right: there's always one that's literate. A shift between plural and singular nouns, e.g. die v dice is always possible. The shift from a noun to an adjective?!

I am an A2 student (exam board OCR), and find it hard sometimes to visualize graphs. Would this, in your opinion, be any sort of help for me? Thank you.
I can’t say for certain how useful you would find it. It may help as, of course, you can produce and explore graphs of function which you cannot on a scientific calculator.
what capacity is required for the batteries as i have rechargables ones but it doesnt last a long time
I use 1.2V min.750 mAh Panasonic Eneloop. They last a manageable amount of time. I rotate a set of 8 (4 + 4) so there are always charged batteries, but yes I appreciate it can be annoying if need to change them in the middle of doing something.
@@TheCalculatorGuide how long do they last from 100%
@@melvinfernandes4352 It would entirely depend how much you use your calculator.
*AAA-size nickel-metal hydride batteries:*
Duracell rechargeable
Energizer rechargeable
Panasonic eneloop (SANYO eneloop)
@@TheCalculatorGuide would 835mAh enough?
@@melvinfernandes4352 I really don't know. You would have to ask Casio. The only advice I can give is to use their recommended batteries.
I bought the same exact calculator and it does not come with the last 4 feature boxes.
You have to upload them they are extras.

HEY!! Does this have the popular Casio Invader game?
Not officially no.
@@TheCalculatorGuide ok
Does it solve chi square statistic?
Yes it does. I’ll have a look at doing a video soon.
is this calculator allowed for year 10 mocks?
You’ll have to ask your school that! It’s allowed in the GCSE so no reason why it shouldn’t be.
Worth getting this ? Just started as maths
+Jennifer Lopes If you want a graphic calculator then yes. If you don't want to spend the money, I'd recommend the Classwiz.
Yes, absolutely
Is it worth upgrading from a FX-CG20 ?
No, I wouldn’t say so.
@@TheCalculatorGuide Thank you for your prompt response
Just started a-levels and the school gave me 1 for free to keep
Nice!
Is this calculator allowed in Igcse O-Levels ?
Yes
How fast does it suck a battery dry
I replaced the non-rechargeable ones after about a year of on/off use. I replaced them with rechargeable ones a month ago and haven’t charged them again yet. With constant use, I don’t know, but it would probably be better than a phone these days...
I failed my maths gcse at foundation, why am I watching this ? 😂
Poppy Yates how?
@@nerdplanet2715 maths isn't for everyone lol
how do i save some things i did like a funktion?
You should be able to same functions as part of a program. Remember, this is not allowed for exams. More about this soon.
There's also a new successor to the ClassPad series - the fx-CG500. www.casioeducation.com/products/calculators/graphing/fx-cg500
+Ian Abbott Seems like a reboot of the full range.
On the newer 500, the STAT Test is 11, Confidence Interval is 8, and battery life / battery count is 100 hours with 4 x AAA batteries.

fx-CG500 Prizm specs - casioeducation.com/products/calculators/graphing/fx-cg500
I have the 400, waiting on the 500 to get here as this just became available in the states (I picked up the 500 on ebay new for $110 plus $5 shipping) so I cant actually speak to the differences between the two, but I can speculate on 1 significant change.
Still no SDK, this is just repainted fx-CP400.
For the fx-CG500, they also removed the "typewriter" software keyboard layouts (QWERTY, QWERTZ, and AZERTY), so now it only supports the alphabetical (ABC) layout. This was done to comply with US exam board regulations.

Is this allowed in IGCSE Maths?
Yes
The Calculator Guide thanks. When I plot a quadratic graph, it draws it with a dotted line even when the style shows as a solid line. How do I fix this?
@@EwanGamingnintendoclubcoukNot sure. If you don't mind resetting all your settings, you could try a reset of your setup data. Menu, System, F5, F1, F1, Exit and then try. Bear in mind, this will reset all you menu settings.
The Calculator Guide ok thank you for the quick reply!
I do the Ib is this allowed for exams
I believe so, in examination mode.
is this calculator allowed for the legacy A level maths
Yes it is is. Absolutely.
Thank you for responding so quickly. How applicable are the videos you did on the classwiz to using fx-cg50, since they look so similar?
The CG50 is very different. Some of the features are within menus rather than via buttons. Some of the more basic functions will be the same. I am hoping to do a bit more with the CG 50 soon, but I've got my hands full with the Classwiz so far.
"DERIVATIVE" not "differential". Differential is the adjective, e.g. Differential Geometry. Derivative is the noun, e.g. the third derivative. (To) Differentiate is the verb, e.g. When I differentiate x^2 w.r.t. x, I get 2x.
There's always someone isn't there...😏 Perhaps I'll start using it until it becomes acceptable like dice for the singular 😉
You're right: there's always one that's literate. A shift between plural and singular nouns, e.g. die v dice is always possible. The shift from a noun to an adjective?!
+dharma6662013 Yeah, maybe not then. Too late to change the audio in the video now though, unfortunately . 😕
