I have a 2012 model never gave me any problem at all except a recent abs module issue, it's been a year and half. Very fuel economic and a beast on the road. Very nice machine.
Great video, i"m a VW specialist, common problems are mechatronic, and magnetic clutch for super charger. Pistons, timing chain and oil consumption will only be a problem when you mostly rev up to the maximum 7000 rpm. Injectors don't fail at all ,15000 service intervals will speed up engine wear, 10000 service intervals is the best.........!...
I have the 2014 model, mechanical isues I've had so far are water pump failure and supercharger clutch failure. Small cosmetic issues are broken arm rest flap and sunroof shade. I service every 7500kms and make sure to do the maintenance items like timing chain around 100 - 120k kms. It's an amazing car, I drive it daily and love the sh!t out of it, makes you feel special 😁
I could not agree with you more on that note. The way the car makes you feel is just indescribable. I loved every moment with my Polo GTi and till to this day I still miss it - Appreciate the love & support
Polo GTI 6C (1.8) Water pump, thermostat, coils, injectors cleaned, timing chain, water pipe torn, cracked sunroof strip and more issues that I forgot about. If you want to own this car, be prepared to spend R10K a year on fixing it. Issues started at 60 000kms. Nice when it drives but a lot of the time I think my car hates me. Funny thing is that I had little faith in this car from day 1. Something about it just seems fragile.
😢 I think I can live with that 10k I drive an Citi Rox 1.4i from new but i am a breaking point of selling it cause clucking, suspension I cant get fixed squeaky noise in the pedals 😢😢 any squeaky noise in a car I am out 😩😩😩
Good video, i had the piston ring landing issue, i also had waterpump failure twice. Mine was a 2012, but it was a little pocket rocket with 170kw and gave out a few hidings.
I own one 2014 model, no major issue experienced. mine only failed me with the water pump at around 170000 km. im still driving it even now and i have 230 000 km on the clock. oil consumption not as bad as previously mentioned because I top it up with a maximum of 3 L between service intervals.
2013 model awesome car, water pump, coil packs and once had a radiator leak. Supercharger belt tore once and now I think its either timing or ring land. I'll reply with an update once I know for sure but I'm still keeping it regardless.
Still have it? I have tge same year, 2013 gti. Owned it for 4 months (my first car) and have had to have a new radiator and now tge turbo actuator has sized. Have had to buy a new turbo
The only things I know about this cars, is: if you tune it, remapping it to stage 1, the common issue is the piston, because some people do stages on this cars already with a lot of km. But this isn’t the only car when you remap it will take down your engine. I knew some people had those issue with different models, like Audi and bmw. So the real answer is, to stay easy, if someone like to remap it or prepare it, make sure to change parts already fraglie, like pistons and turbo.
2012 1.4 polo gti on 63k miles had it since 44k. absolutely love it but oil consumption is my main issue find myself topping it up atleast once a month or more if I’ve been booting it 😂 touch wood not had any water pump issues that I’ve been told about yet. I’ve thought about doing the timing chain as a preventative measure
I have the 2014 model, mechatronics failed at around 70,000km, radiator, timing chain, supercharger magnetic clutch/water pump all failed between 100-120k km it does consume oil you need to keep an eye on that otherwise it's a great little machine with good power delivery on demand.
My polo just stopped in the middle of the road and I have to idle a while before it moves. When it moves instead of drive when the gear is on drive it reverse back. Now it's starts but haven't tried driving it. Please help with the problem?
Owner of 2014 model here with 40k mileage. First car of my life, love it so much! Only problem i got is hard to find aftermarket parts unlike golfs. I am planning on stage 1 tuning, should i map the dsg program as well? Worrying about Dq200 can’t deal with any more torque.
Congratulations 🎊 You definitely have a beauty. After market parts? What exactly are you looking for, I could direct you in the right direction. I would definitely do a TCU flash on for sure.
🤣 🤣 Fully agree, I actually forgot about that. The thing is also you can't just buy the clip, you have to buy the whole arm rest which is quite pricey. Good Point there... Appreciate the support 😉
Hi guys. Hope everyone is well. I'm having an issue with my Polo gti Cav 2014 cthe. It has a low idle. Start up 1000rpm then after 30 seconds or soo 700rpm. Slight engine vibration due to lack of rpm. Also a stutter when giving it gas. Any ideas? I changed the battery and sparl plugs. No error codes. Thanks in advance.
I did my whole motor over I bend all my valves ND did pistons over and did whole motor over I got a polo 2011 gti 6r but now my super charge not kicking in after I change my water pump
My polo gti 2011 piston did hit the head, replaced all 4 pistons, the flywheel went replaced it, waterpump went replaced it, megatronic went replaced it, and had the whole car’s electronics done by an electrician, Biggest headache of my life!
There can be a few reasons, but I will definitely go to the closest workshop to check it out for you. It can be misfire from lowdown acceleration or it can be gearbox issue where it's having a delay from pull pull away where it puts it in N and jumps to D in a split second. So I will rather go check it out.
So stuck between a polo GTi or fiesta ST, 2017 or newer. Coming from a fiesta, I wouldn't another fiesta. Would love the gti but very scared as people drive the kak out of these vrrpha monsters, especially the mechatronics costing over 30k, that's insane. Great video though bru!
Much appreciated 🔥 Yes both vehicles has its flaws. I personally will go GTI route. If it's Polo look for a 2014 model for sure. Goodluck with the choice. Appreciate the support 😉 #dontforgettosubscribe
I own a 2013 model. Only issue I had was a water pump failure. There is a slight vibration/shudder when accelerating at a low rev (between 1000 rpm and 1500 rpm). Anyone has/had a similar issue and know what it might be?
Shudder when it changes from first to second??? Mine started like that ….my DSG ended up failing. The whole DSG need to be replaced as Vw don’t fix just the metatronics they replace the whole freaking DSG.
Congrats on the ride. Yes you can a DV spacer on these cars. They make really nice turbo noises. Just be careful for what you purchase, I would suggest either GFB (a bit pricey) or Forge. It will give you beautiful turbo sounds as well as hold the boost for a bit longer and give you better throttle response. So I would say yes go for it.
Most definitely is a nice car to own, few precautions to take. A very nice basic platform for tuning but definitely worth it. Thanks for the support 😉 #dontforgettosubscribe
Awesome video. Personally i don’t know anything about cars as you’ll discussing issues I’m like 🤔🙆🏾♂️😂. With all cars you just have to be careful and make maintenance top priority. Hence, I hate auto cars and love manuals with less electronics. I own a polo 1.6 vivo. Probably the most reliable car il ever own. I’m scared of VW DSGs. I was interested in a golf 1.0TSI comfort line, it has a electronic handbrake, any issues with that? Thanks
Appreciate the support 😉 We all learn as we go, trust me I personally don't know everything either. But you 100% correct by saying maintenance is key 🗝 if you get DSG make sure you have a mechanical warranty with it. Never experienced any issues with electronic handbrake, but you do get those instances where the handbrake can get stuck but it's not common though.
Car is a lemon. I had a 1.4L Gti from brand new. (Late 2014 model). They had worked out the oil burning issues with the bad rings mid 2013 so models made after 2013 don’t have the oil issue. So where to start ……timing chain was “stretched” due to a failed timing chain hydronic guide at 18000km (replaced under warranty)…..then my metatronics failed at 38 000 km. Car was out of its 3 year warranty by 2 months. I fought with VwSa and got the entire DSG replaced (it’s a 90 000ZAR job) but it’s was replaced with a new DSG from Germany, so as I understood, Vw Wolfsburg replaced it and paid for the repair and not VwSa. When I got it back I traded it in on the new polo 2.0L GTi. (The 1.4L only had 48 000km on the clock when I traded it in) A month later I found out the new owner of my 1.4L Gti had the water pump fail. It was a little pocket rocket though, but I would stay say well away from this car. (Also had a fuel issue that took around 5 visits for Vw to find out what it was, it was some small sensor that failed making the check engine light come on all the time). So if you see 2nd had one floating around with Bi-xenon headlights and DRL ….Reflex silver paint and no sunroof ……yeah ….that was mine. Buyer beware. Oh they also suffer from dual mass flywheel issues aswell
Not at all.. I own one, 2012 CAVE engine.. just replace the Accumulator and I don’t have any problems.. The core goes, if you put in a billet core.. say bye to the problem. But it’s one potent engine.. I’m doing 180kw just from the down, air, turbo upgrades and software stage 1 +. Say bye bye to Golf 7 R Its my daily driver
Well it really depends which Insurer you really go for to be honest. There are a few factors that plays when getting insurance. 1. How long you have your license 2. The vehicle falls under a performance car so for your age its a high risk according to them 3. If the vehicle is a high risk for theft Etc So all depends. Appreciate the support 😉
I have a 2011 polo GTI 6r and am having a issue that I can’t read codes on. My car decided to lock into 2nd gear when I stopped for traffic lights and no matter what I do will not shift out and now has a check engine light but says there no error code when using a OBD2. Anyone know what this issue could be?
That my friend definitely sounds like either your Mechatronics Failed as mentioned in the video or the Clutch Pack Failed, can be either of them. I hope you have a Mechanical Warranty?
I had a 2011 with the CAVE engine with 155km on the dash, and haven't experienced any of the major problems other than the water pump clutch burning out, which led to the pump failing itself. Best advice I can give anyone that experiences a water pump failure on this model, is rather get the OEM pump instead of an aftermarket pump. Unfortunately I went the route and got an OE pump and the supercharger had a slight delay, even with a stage 1 tune. At the time when I let go of the car, either the gearbox or mechatronics were on it's way out as it started to jerk more frequently. Nonetheless all in all, I couldn't agree more, it's an amazing car, it has the perfect body weight to performance ratio for a little hot hatch compared to its bigger brother the Golf 6 GTI. Buyers looking into getting these, it's best to look at models with the CTH engine.
I could not agree with you more, best to stick with OEM waterpump, but some times our pockets don't allow us as they are quite pricey but we all learn from it. Definitely the perfect body weight to performance ratio, as it is a little pocket rocket. Appreciate the support and your take on the Polo GTI. i have a 2013 model 6R, water pump, thermostat & timing all linked so that was a costly affair. other than that, car is a stunner.
Any idea what turbo this car comes with from factory
As far as I know, it's comes out with a KO3s turbo. I might be wrong.
I had a 1.4 180cv. I loved it. But damn, turbo and dsg problems... I spent lot of money on it
I would like to ask a question...this model using a wet cluth or dry cluth ?
