- This week on the DoneDeal UA-cam channel, we're test driving the Volvo C40. Built on the same platform as the XC40, the C40 has a slightly more aerodynamic roofline which flows downwards in a 'Coupé' fashion.
Depending on which variant you choose, the C40 will be able to achieve up to 578km range on a single charge. If you opt for the dual motor, this is reduced by about 40km, however the added AWD and extra power more than make up for this.
Priced at just under €60,000, the C40 is certainly a car that you should consider if going for a smaller 'SUV' style EV.
It's a very enjoyable car to drive, and the size of it is perfect for Irish roads. Large enough to fit the family, tall enough to glide over the bumpy roads, but not so wide that you can't drive down a country lane.
The Google powered infotainment system is excellent, however it could benefit from wireless apple car play.
We hope you enjoy our review, and thanks for watching.

Excellent review. Thanks.
I would point out that the range meter on EVs ( which is known as the Guess-o Meter or GOM) is not a way to judge the real range of the car. Its usually goes on an average of previous journeys and depends how its been driven. Also if the car is very new it will be very inaccurate. Volvo in particular make the GOM very conservative and the range will be better than this with careful driving. Outsude temperature also makes a big difference.
Howver I do agree the C40 is great to drive.
It's probably about 10-15k too expensive. Very nice car though.
Imagine buying it in winter for full price and getting half range life 😢
