Quick note - it's not inspired by the Genta designs of the 1970s. It's inspired by the 1969 Defy. This is entirely Zenith trolling AP, etc., because they were there first but Genta got all the fame! 🙂

@@ChisholmHunterOfficial Zenith released the Defy Revival A3642 the week prior, based on the 1969 A3642 watch. I really feel that was meant as a tip to this release. This is an homage to the A3642 in a more modern format. Zenith keeps reaching into their back catalogue for interesting references. It doesn't hurt that vintage inspired watches are super popular these days!
that's what they said but sorry no one is fooled. It looks nothing like the A3642. It is the same watch as the defy classic, now they just adjust the case to make it look even more similar to the RO while they already copied the bracelet few years ago. It is a shame that they dont even bother to upgrade the elite movement but just toss it, using the "el primero" name for extra attention while this is not even a chronograph. Very cheap move here to make a quick buck. Yes it is a pretty watch and im sure they will sell a lot of them becos the design is nice, yep the Genta's design!
@@SillytanN it's purely Zenith design before even Genta's design, it just Zenith now have the opportunity to revive a design in a modern take in a time were the top brands "get a hard time" in stocking watches that are in high demand, thats normal, Zenith is clever and giving the watch fans what they want
Zenith are knocking it out of the park at the moment. Prefer the lustre of stainless steel to titanium.
Looks great on your wrist! I fell in love with the black dial when I got to review it on my channel, but I’d definitely go for the blue!
usually not a big fan of white dials.....it looks really good on this model. you know how a car looks really good in a certain color.

Thank you for an excellent review of the new Zenith Defy Skyline. You cover more of the subjective aspects of the design which is really helpful in your overall evaluation. The dial is so nice that it would be difficult to pick just one, but I would probably go with the blue dial on the stainless steel bracelet. I've always been a fan of the 42mm Girard Perregaux Laureto with the blue dial and this watch reminds me of the GP. Thank you again. Respectfully, Greg
Buy all the rubber straps and get the white dial, because it looks amazing on all the colors.

The Zenith Defy came out 3 years earlier than the Royal Oak.

White for sure, your heart wants it too, IMO it’s a different style from the SMP 300. The zenith is more classy

Case design - zenith defy was 1st re.shape (1968?), aroind 3 years before AP. So... AP is Zenith like.

I just got the blue and it’s definitely a beauty. Although I choose it because I have a few other watches black and white so I wanted a color variation. The blue dial in person it’s much nicer and also goes with everything. Sometimes it looks a dark blue and sometimes the blue just pops out so you have variations of the same color which you won’t get from the black or white. All that to say that there’s not a better option all 3 are gorgeous it’s just a matter of which one speaks to you more at the moment.

So weird. My last two watches I’ve bought are the one on your wrist (BB41 in Red) and the watch you are reviewing (Zenith Defy SL White). Great taste my man.
I prefer the zenith defy open work. Grade 5 titanium > steel in terms of scratch resistance, wear resistance , tensile strength and weight reduction. The new one looks like a royal oak

In my opinion, if you don't have blue dial watch in your collection, it would be better to choose the blue one. Blue is a versatile and popular color.
these caught my eye, when they were released cant wait to try on at an AD, as Zenith fan Always buy on the bracelet and can add the rubber, i am sure they would throw one into the deal?

Yes and you can select the rubber strap color regardless of dial color. I think they offer 3 different strap color options.

absolutely gorgeous design and brilliant quick release! - although its not "one tenth seconds" it's "ten seconds" as it takes ten seconds for one rotation! :-P love this watch though, so much better all round than rolex....
Not for me .. zenith following a very predictable road , it looks like the lovechild of the oak and the the oversees . The small seconds is gimmicky with little or no use .In general I see it as a watch that may be for people who lust after a trinity piece but can’t quite get there .I get that it is essentially a homage of an early defy but yet seems all so predictable at present

1. Not Genta. Zenith was first.
2. Not octagonal. Dodecahedron- 12 sided, not 8.
3. Black cars show more dirt than white ones. Try it.
4. If you like depth, it’s blue, not white.

Beautiful watch. Zenith deserves the love, they've been producing some great designs recently. Personally I favour the blue , even though I've just got a B&W Seamaster Pro. Sometimes Asymmetry on a dial just works as it gives your eye a focal point. It's imperfection makes it perfect. Zenith have really nailed it with this. Love my Longines Big Eye for the same reason.
Interesting concept, your time racing away six times faster with that crazy seconds hand. Quite a dynamic look. Zenith recommend a full (pricey) service every 3-5 years and their watches have to go back to Switzerland with an estimated turnaround time of circa 3 months. Something that never comes up.
Why should I buy 2 of these when I could get a lightly used Submariner for the same money.

I might like the look better than the VC Overseas. I spend my days in a causal setting. I love the blue.
75% of my collection has blue dial. I would go with the white
I prefer the blue and i think it would suit your collection better because if you chose the white then you would introduce some competition with your seamaster 300. You might then sell one or the other in the end :/ but you know what if you prefer the white dial and can look at your collection happily with 2 similar looking watches then go for it man :))
A lovely piece and I can see why you're not worried about adhering to your preferred 6 o'clock date window position due to the very balanced dial. For me, the blue dial on the bracelet. Enjoy Madeira - a great location.

It’s a hard choice , I’ve got a blue Pam 1033 which is great , I think your getting the Panerai franchise soon , but Zenith are great watches , I take it it’s not the El Primero movement in this watch ,very underrated brand ,thanks
I love this watch and I want it but I have a rolex and a CM sport that I'm on a list for. Can only afford 2 at the moment. But if I could, I would purchase the blue. In the next 6 months-1 year... I will have this watch.
Wait for the skeleton dials. I've tried both the black and blue versions and they rock. Small seconds at 6

Looking forward to finding a blue dial in person. IMO the best looking watch in the roundup. I'd go with white second but my Explorer satisfies my white dial fix. Is it possible to mix blue dial with black strap?

How to solve the dilemma?

Thx for your very interesting video. Everyone can see your having truly a good time wearing this timepiece. The blue looks gorgeous but I would prefer the silver dial...its more elegant and more versatile. Also white/silver dials you dont see so many times as blue. I just like them more
