Thank you for your post as it will be implemented ASAP into the Los Angeles building codes for more fire-proof construction. After every disaster in LA: earthquakes, mud slides, and fires the building department researches and implements new codes. There is video showing the devastation along the Pacific Coast Highway. I have lived here for 35 years and most of those homes were built before 1985. There are a few stretches that have homes that were not damaged and they are all built to withstand this horrific situation. The Getty Museum in Brentwood is designed to be fire proof. The architect is Richard Meier and he designed three houses on PCH that were untouched by the fire. My hope is that everyone can have a home that is fireproof.
I was watching today video on youtube Lahaina Hawaii fire one year later and they just now finish up cleaning all the debris no new buidings yet..This LA rebuild will take at least 10 years.
Hey there, It’s been more like a year and a half since the Lahaina fire. Seriously, this is Lahaina times a hundred. Shameful all of this talk about “Rebuilding”. It’ll take FIVe YEARS minimum just to clean it up and of course where in the hell are they going to put all of the debris!! Let alone where in the hell is everyone going to stay? Logistics and these people don’t have a clue. It’s all talk. Good flippin luck LA….,
Maybe Not. I live here in Hawaii and we don’t have workers nor the housing for people here. California is part of the mainland they may rebuild faster then Lahaina
@GregdelPilar-fz8qm I went through Hurricane Harvey 🌀 Fixed it up Then cam the Texas deep freeze...vortex from Canada 🇨🇦 Finished off the house...finished off not only my savings but left me in $18,000 of debt. Removal of house 🏠 was gonna cost additional $7,000. So, nobody's paying that except you. Property taxes still will be due. So...let's put it to you this way... I'm actually in Los Angeles County right now!!! Now this!!! Looters? Yup. There's no recovery. I haven't been able to build a new house yet. The one I had lost was a paid off house. I also had to replace my car 🚗 after the deep freeze. I went through the covid 19 lockdown. This stuff is brutal. I wish I had a new house 🏠 😕 again. The first one took my 20+ years of savings.
Why? How would the fire have behaved differently with another governor in charge? As for private business, remember the Boeing Company? Boeing lost record amounts of money, caused crashes that killed hundreds of people. Yet Boeing paid its then CEO Dave Calhoun - who served as Boeing's CEO until his departure in 2024 - a total compensation of $32.8 million in 2023, marking a 45% increase from his 2022 compensation of $22.6 million. Upon his departure, Calhoun was entitled to a severance package valued at approximately $24 million, with the potential to receive an additional $45.5 million in future payouts, depending on the terms of his exit and the vesting of certain stock awards. Yeah, I guess, he did get fired but I suspect most people would happily accept the terms of his "firing". So much for accountability in the private sector.

I am truly sorry for what has happened ...Western North Carolina & Eastern Tennessee are two of the most beautiful areas in the U.S., & I've traveled a lot. I used to live in NC for a number of years, the people were warm & welcoming, my neighbors (black, white, Latino) used to bring food to my house almost daily...I think they thought I needed some fattening up. NC had some of the kindest, most hospitable, friendly & helpful people that I have ever met, the food is awesome, I loved the weather, the laid-back demeanor of the people, & their accent, slang & entertaining stories ...I had hoped to retire in the Ashville area one day. Sad for all of you who have been forgotten after Hurricane Helena, along with all of those who have been forgotten in Lahaina, Maui, Palestine, Ohio, Paradise, California, & so many other locations.
I'd never recover from something like this. My home truly is my sanctuary. Spent 28 years making it into the cozy, peaceful space it is. A lifetime of mementos, all the cremated remains of my beloved pets, things that make me happy. I'd rather die inside it than to forever grieve for my happy place.

People DID die because they could not walk away. In the morst possible way. You do realize that right ? I personally think your priorities are out of whack with reality. Note: Those who stayed behind, also put others at risk , which is not honerable at all. The same kind of privilaged mindset killed more people than needed during the Pandemic. You would think people would learn. Risk and Sacrefice is part of life and copmmunity. Shame people have forgotten that.
I'm not the sentimental type, but that reporter's reassuring the kids that all the stuffed animals made it out okay reduced me to a blubbering mass of tears. Thank you, sir, for your kind sensitivity to the little ones whose precious innocence and vulnerability is so often trampled upon by unthinking, callous adults.
This truly breaks my heart. I'm a retired Fire Chief and I've never seen anything of such magnitude. My prayers are with all who lost their homes and lives. I also want to fellow Brother and Sister Firefighters to be safe and know how much I appreciate all rescue personnel, Red Cross and other entities involved. Please be safe everyone ❤
Honestly, it isn't just the sheer magnitude of this. We're talking about a state that is already tied up in pointless systems, let alone LA that has even more going on that has crippled them even before this point. Those that are under/not insured are never going to be able to rebuild in that area due to how godawful the pricing is. Even insured people will struggle. Fire rates are going to sky-rocket for everyone. Rentors are going to be SOL unless they figure out how to fix the terrible bidding on rentals and stop the prices from going up. Meanwhile, the city is sitll on fire and there's no water, there's not enough firemen, there's not enough supplies, etc. I don't know if you've seen the recent interview with the LAFD chief - if you want truly heartbreaking you should track it down. She's been begging for more for well over a year, because what they had was never near enough.
**** Stu, what you just said about the stuffed animals was completely PRICELESS!! and probably the best and most special thing anyone could have ever said! Thank You!!! That was absolutely amazing....
There's more wood inside the house than outside. Start building homes with brick, mortar and concrete, guys.... Leave the wooden design for colder and wetter places like the North east, not for CA.
@@wirefly1000 Nothing much, just a 1,000 year flood that ruined the whole area with 1000 children in insecure homes. Not much . Thanks for asking though , I know they're just a bunch of hillbillies and hippies
My thoughts exactly!! These folks' homes are $1 million and more... they can afford to start over. I feel bad that they lost everything, but folks in NC are still struggling...
What a wonderful thing to say when the broadcaster said to any children listening that all the cuddly toys, teddies ‘managed to escape from the fire’. Thank you for that. From Scotland
My family refuses to talk to the media. This is a horrific situation when you have lost everything. I live in Texas and I watched my sister’s property, schools she taught with, restaurants and other things I visit in Altadena. You have insurance companies playing games with these people. I know the game since I have gone through 25 hurricanes, ice storms, floods and tornados in the last 20 years. My home was damaged 7 times. Give these people grace.
Where the stuffed animals are so are all the blankies too. My granddaughter asked me about her blankie every time we drove past her daycare taken out by a tornado.
I had a blankie that was everything to me as a kid. I'm sure that must have been difficult to explain. What tornado was this if you don't mind my asking?
So taxpayers continue to be on the hook because the Mayor and Governor cut funding for not just fire fighting but fire prevention. Just pure disgust when prevention was key. This dates back several years to bad/no policies in forrestry management. It should not take deaths and severe property loss for policy change. Hold the politicians accountable.
What's worse is that despite this horrific event, how much you want to bet that people will just keep voting in the same types of politicians into office. While I do have a lot of empathy for the terror that must be happening down there, at the same time, these problems were going on for years. Unfortunately, the same people that had their lives destroyed may well have been continually voting for the people that through ineptitude, laziness, and greed made it happen.
@@Amoreyna Sadly it shouldn't even be about politics. When I ran for comissioner on the east coast I would tell people that I wasn't a politician, I was a community representative. Politicians need to be accountable for budget and finance - especially where protecting lives and property should be the first priority. Regardless of other issues, I think all voters need to look at where their money is being spent. I wish I could help people who lost their homes and have no insurance. Its a terrible situation. I run a small construction company and other than giving advice, there's not much I can do from the east.

We drove down along highway one last summer after my son’s ucsb orientation to visit family in Santa Ana. There were a lot of nice homes. Unfortunately they are too close to each other and no way can avoid the burning ambers blown by the winds.
Like most of America. I've been watching the updates on these horrific fires. Most of my emotions have been anger towards the incompetence of the local and state officials. When the helicopter man said to all the children out there "all the stuffed animals are safe" Made me realize too a child. A teddy bear, a blanket or favorite toy is their identity. Prayers to them and to their parents
@masshole663 “Most of my emotions have been anger towards the incompetence of the local and state officials” What specifically do you think are the key examples of incompetence?
@bullcrap9409 well cutting any funding for the fire department. That is both on the state and local level. 17+ million cut at LAFD and 100+ million cut at CAL FIRE. That alone says Incompetence. California has had wild fires for decades and to not do any preventative in regards to managing the brush and forest. I won't even go into the fact that the Palisades reservoir was off line for the last 6 months. It really doesn't matter anyways. California always goes running to the federal government like a kid who runs to his parents every time for help with rent cause he spent it on beer and girls. I just think this time he slept with the wrong girl and now she is pregnant and he is in deep 💩. No money, cause he spent on his unemployed friends.
The major incompetence has been all of America laughing at, humiliating and ignoring climate scientists who have been sounding the alarm about this for 50 years. Yet we did nothing to mitigate it, nothing to adapt to it. And here we are.

So many homes with pools of water. Where are the reverse pumps with auto sprinkler systems? Would of been nice to see more of those homes with pools, still standing! Why is this not a regulation?
The better quesiton would be - why are pools allowed when water is so scarce? Even if you factor that pools aren't necessarily filled constantly, that's still a lot of water just sitting around. Even more so when you factor in how much use these pools got, how often they were drained and refilled, topped off due to evaporation, etc. It isn't some huge, grand amount probably, but when you're talking about a city that is struggling with water supply to the point that they have massive systems to other states to get enough to run, it makes a difference.
i dont think we can imagine, the imprint those images leave on a childs soul, they will need extra care, to over come this. To recover their favorite stuffed animal, that, we know, often meant consolation to a child, a close ally to talk to, their best friend, may mean so much in this time. I hope there will be efforts to bring the children to this place to look for it. ❤
This is such a horrifically shocking! I can’t imagine how everyone feels after losing everything like this. I hate to think about all the irreplaceable items people lost and any pets they weren’t able to take like fish or horses.
They need to pitch tents. This is nothing new. Those serve our nation, the military personnel always live in tents when they deploy for a long time as well as short time. There will be no running water, no utility company to supply the power, but it is livable.
What amazing luck, or what amazing grace, that a house is fully standing, barely touched by the fire, while every other house around it is burnt to the ground. One house untouched, with trees around it untouched, and right across the road, all the houses leveled into ash and soot.
The pain is real, everyday struggle for people of Gaza(losing home, waiting in line for food, scared of bombs), love from Gaza…(our tents are open for u to share) stay safe LA..and vote for “cease 🔥”

I was watching today video on youtube Lahaina Hawaii fire one year later and they just now finish up cleaning all the debris no new buidings yet..This LA rebuild will take at least 10 years.
Hey there,
It’s been more like a year and a half since the Lahaina fire.
@GregdelPilar-fz8qm
I went through Hurricane Harvey 🌀
Fixed it up
Then cam the Texas deep freeze...vortex from Canada 🇨🇦
Finished off the house...finished off not only my savings but left me in $18,000 of debt.
@@GregdelPilar-fz8qm lots of people wont be back. They said 1500 people so far left Lahaina..
I think at least double that. This is Dresden levels of devastation.
They need to fire the mayor and governor. If it was a private business they would be fired.
Weather lady outfit is only 11% contained at this point.
Western NC was basically forgotten! They lost everything too! 😢😢😢
Born n Raised in NC~
What’s NC doing about it, the state needs to raise their taxes to cover the aid
The US can survive without NC, can’t say the same for California.

I'm also sorry about the comments made by those who have lost their humanity. ❤
@@cre8tion26 OR maybe instead of sending billions to Israel the US actually start caring for its own ?
Why doesn't Israel raise taxes right instead of leaching off American taxpayers' dollars ?
That pantsuit is giving me a headache!
That's how you feel now. But I think once something like this happens, you'll find a hidden strength inside yourself. You will have to.

What a movie we are watching. From the firemen to the anchormen/women - a stage that only a few can comprehend.
Dear Mayor, stop saying OMG! Please show some respect to God!
Bass and Newsom caused this tragedy.
No they didn’t! Arsonists did! Planned! Stop it!
Gotta blame some mortal I guess
Sentimental things are never replaceable. No matter how hard you try. Thats the thing they like to take from people the most.
Wow..up to 4k grant....where was this for hurricane victims. Seem grossly unfair.
People of Lahaina, Maui & Palestine, Ohio will agree with your comment...they've been forgotten as well.
it's really crazy how nobody is talking about the book the censored guide to wealth, it changed my life
Could you imagine terrential rains hitting this area fairly soon, goodness gracious
It would be equally disastrous :(
That's typical for this area, can't win over mother nature.

That is a ridiculous and unbelievable amount of destruction. Something really wrong there.
Almighty God hands at work.

All her clothes might be burn, only these sleep clothing left.

I'm mad at the arsonists 😢
@masshole663
“Most of my emotions have been anger towards the incompetence of the local and state officials”
What specifically do you think are the key examples of incompetence?
@@kpokpojijiif the locals really believe that then why didn’t they move away prior?

In some places the ground is too rocky. In others, they prefer you don't ask.

Palos Verde?????? Oh my God!!!! When did the fire happen there in Palos Verde????????
i dont think we can imagine, the imprint those images leave on a childs soul, they will need extra care, to over come this. To recover their favorite stuffed animal, that, we know, often meant consolation to a child, a close ally to talk to, their best friend, may mean so much in this time. I hope there will be efforts to bring the children to this place to look for it. ❤

They need to pitch tents. This is nothing new. Those serve our nation, the military personnel always live in tents when they deploy for a long time as well as short time. There will be no running water, no utility company to supply the power, but it is livable.
She looks like she’s wearing a zebra costume😂😂😂
What amazing luck, or what amazing grace, that a house is fully standing, barely touched by the fire, while every other house around it is burnt to the ground. One house untouched, with trees around it untouched, and right across the road, all the houses leveled into ash and soot.
And will probably be unlivable for the next 6 months at least
Use concrete slab
The pain is real, everyday struggle for people of Gaza(losing home, waiting in line for food, scared of bombs), love from Gaza…(our tents are open for u to share) stay safe LA..and vote for “cease 🔥”
